This new Togekiss from Surging Sparks is quite controversial

You would absolutely be correct. He's looking at it as evolving from Togepi via Rare Candy, or taking 2 turns with Togetic as well.

Fun fact: if you knock out a tag team, VMAX, or three prize legend with amp you very much while under the effects of altered creation GX and flip heads on wonder kiss, you can take 6 prizes with one KO

“Whenever the opponent’s active Pokémon is knocked out” is downright outrageous, I’d still be chill if it’s knocked out by damage of an attack or by an attack, but seeing as ability based knock out is pretty popular now, this is awful for the game

You missed the important part: “opponent’s active Pokémon is Knocked Out FULL STOP.” It doesn’t have to be by an attack, it doesn’t have to be during your turn. If the opponent is knocked out by Vengeful Punch, it counts. If Wigglytuff ex has its final special energy removed by Handheld Fan, it counts. Remove a Bravery Charm using Lost Vacuum, that counts. Munkidori moves 3 damage to take an Active KO. That’s a flip of Togekiss. During that same turn, you Prime Catcher and use Dusknoir to take another Active KO. Another coin flip. And finally you take a KO either with an attack or during Pokémon checkup, that’s 3 flips for additional prizes in a single turn, when you’ve set up the board to (barring Legacy Energy) take at least 3 prizes in a single turn.

I think its a potential Dusknoir tech substitute...I was thinking a Blissey deck eith this would be funny, cause if you got a KO and flip for Togekiss, to grab an additional prize (thats 3 on an ex) but if any of those prizes were a Chansey you could potentially get even more prizes off a Single prize...let alone using Briar to get that KO

I can imagine this being done in Expanded as some gimmicky cheese, since there’s a Bunnelby that can get two stage 2’s as early as the first turn. That, or or make some super-ultra-mega combo deck that combines a million prize increasing traits to take 6 in one attack.

People r forgetting that its not “once during your turn” so you can essentially flip as many coins as possible with one togekiss on the board whenever the active is KO’d which is kind of ridiculous…

Nah it’s bad it’s a stage 2 with a coin flip. Cards like hammer can be used at any time of the game and can be easily searched and imo even that card is fair when there are better options

Yeah, this should have been flip two coins, if both are heads. While togekiss is on the bench, odds are decent you only need to take out 4 single prizers to win; or, if you KO two pokemon ex, odds are good you'll only need one more prize. That being said, I don't see it taking over the meta, and I'd like to see some fun rogue decks make use of it.

Flipping two coins probably wouldn't be worth the resources to get Togekiss out. There is a cost to getting Togekiss on your bench and this doesn't seem as broken as some seem to think. It only works when the active Pokemon is knocked out.

Surely in the game they just tinker with the coin flip odds. Obviously can’t do that for table top. But I would imagine the larger player base is the game.

Zard most likely isn’t going to use this. Dusknoir and Pidgeot already require a lot of candies, and even if Zard ran Dusclops it’d require a lot of bench space.

Takes your Ace Spec slot plus whatever number of other cards you want for Togekiss' evolution tree. Not to mention the cards you use to find Grand Tree in the first place. It's a lot of resources to set up that might be better applied to something different. I'm kind of low key excited about this Togekiss, but I don't see it having a huge impact on the meta.
