Inplace upgrades have been around since Windows introduced Feature Updates as that is the same but automated. The problem with In Place Upgrade and this newer Recovery solution is that they require a functional/bootable Windows OS. Otherwise you are outside the OS and keeping your data and apps isn't an option if you have to reinstall the OS.

Yeah, just like feature updates and in-place-upgrade this will reset some of the settings and modifications you made to your install. At least with ShutUp10 they save your settings to a file so next time you open it it will tell you which settings changed and if you want to revert them.

I discovered the Nvidia app was the culprit behind my pc completely freezing several times a day whenever I watched a couple YT videos at the same time (one w/CC on) It didn’t happen all the time but seemed to get progressively worse. The sound still played, but everything including the mouse was frozen until I typed ctrl/alt/del and then hit cancel. I had already ruled out the RAM, NVMe, GPU, and OS. I even started using another PC but the freezing problem followed me, plus I noticed a huge lag while scrolling through the YT “watch later” list. Eventually I stumbled upon a YT video of someone complaining about the Nvideo app reducing FPS in games and suggested going back to GeForce Experience. On a hunch I deleted the app, updated the game driver, and the freezing problem went away. I hope that helps somebody someday.

I wish this was for windows 10. I keep having this stupid recurrent issue of the right click menu appearing unexpectedly and repeatedly and I can't seem to find a fix to make it go away. Sometimes it also opens a code panel (inspect element, perhaps). I've tried the usual suggestions already, and am currently deciding if I should try reporting it as a bug or just try reinstalling the operating system. Did dism, sfc, hardware diagnostic, reinstall of mouse, touchpad, usb drivers. I've even replaced the mouse itself. This thing is annoying and kind of feels like malware, but scan finds nothing.
