You have to try this! A half golf swing is one way that works for all golfers to GENERATE more power. Making a shorter backswing, full of MORE control, you are more likely to find the MIDDLE of the golf club, square the face and therefore create a more efficient golf swing with more power. This is a method I have shown to golfers of all levels and ages, from senior golfers to young golfers, and low handicap golfers to high handicap golfers. With the driver, the HALF BACKSWING For MORE POWER works for ALL Golfers!
When golfers ask me how to get more power, I always say a half backswing is the key for more power, and it works for all golfers no matter your age or ability and handicap. Don't swing longer in your backswing; just start swinging shorter, and I know you will hit the golf ball longer and straighter more often. You will begin to create a far more efficient golf swing in 5 simple steps that any golfer of any age can follow. A 3/4 backswing is the way to create power in the golf swing and WAY more power in the golf swing. Sync up the arms and body to get the club to stop just short of parallel.
This NO BACKSWING MOVE is Changing SO MANY Golf Swings
The 5 simple steps to follow:
1. Grip in the fingers.
2.How to start the golf swing.
3. Set the wrists.
4. Left shoulder down to the ground.
5. Rhythm - trust in the coil of the backswing."

Sorry but as much as I enjoy your videos, if you think that's a short swing your sadly mistaken! Watch your video back and you might feel like your not swinging fully, but you can see that your back swing is full (or as full as I can do!). It should called be swing within yourself as that is what your encouraging, which incidentally works! The sequencing stages are very good though!

Yes, but I found I was over swinging because of the momentum of the backswing. I have had a lot of success trying to shorten my swing, which allows the club to finish the swing at the top and let's you create lag, which translates to power at the hitting zone. I was one person who always hit the ball with the arms and not the club which leads to hitting from the top.

I've been working on release from Padraig Harringtons channel. The drill is a half swing on the way back then try and stop the club at impacy. It's mad how far you can get the ball with a controlled half swing!!

I can't swing as far back as you. When I swing I have to make an even shorter swing because I can't get the upper and lower body separation, or x- factor, like you. I've learned that the shorter I swing with a good tempo I hit more solid shots. Thanks for the video.

I’ve been playing 4 years now and after watching this one video, I saw my accuracy improve more than I could have ever expected. Not only am I now remaining on the fairway, but most of my drives headed straight for the green. Simply By making sure my shoulder tracks properly, my accuracy followed, and my confidence improved. Within the week I added power and was surprised to discover that several of my drives landed on the green! I can’t believe how your lesson made such a huge difference in my game. Thank you ever so much!

Totally agree with this video. I'm 52, play off 14, have an old back injury, don't have a full turn and regularly rip 270 yard plus drives on the course. Just switched to a Cobra Darkspeed X and with a low spin/mid flight shaft I've hit in the 280's on trackman sims! Just look at Mr Rahm :)

Another excellent lesson. I have an indoor net and just finished working on this. Outstanding!! I tend to rush the downswing -- This just helps me know that contortions in the backswing are not necessary. Rather hit it shorter under good directional control than to be required to hit amazing rescue shots from the trees/brush as a second shot.

I just got back from the range and i think this could be something to work with. I even hit a few high draw bombs!! Doing it on the range is one thing, Saturday on the course will be the next challenge, fingers crossed.

I got a chance to see a practice round at the PGA Championship last year at Oak HIll. The thing that stood out to me the most was how short Rahm's backswing was. Off he tee, he was hitting it 300 yards with a half swing. His arms barely go above his waist.

I learned the grip in the fingers from reading Ben Hogan's Five Lessons. In his book he does the exact same thing you do - balance the club with just the index finger and the butt of the hand. It really works well for having the proper grip for golf.

Hi Alex, firstly, thank you so much for posting your clear to understand videos. I have a question - I'm a slightly older (approaching 60) golfer who used to play off single figures but had a hip replacement last year, and after the medical layoff have found that I now am hooking the ball like crazy (starts off straight but don't trust my base so presumably rotating too much?). I used to set the ball out right with a gentle draw but clearly my subconscious is taking over - I feel a shorter, more 'punchy' swing (which I have always used for approach shots from an 8-iron down) helps but I'm losing distance on anything above a 5-iron and have terrible accuracy with my driver. Any advice? I have a very neutral grip but still seem to turn the club over on impact (still coming down on the inside or on target)

Another great video Alex cheers from Port Pirie South Australia. Have you ever thought golf balls could act like a lawn bowl? Like they could be heavier on one side than the other? There is a gizmo I bought on temu that spins the ball to get it balanced and while its spinning a green light will come on to poke the maker in to mark the ball which will be the center line where you line up your putt. Not sure if it would help with the driver.
