This is amazing. The part about rotating the hips slowly and pushing the arms away with little to no hinge is amazing. The swing feels so effortless and consistent now. This is as close to a quick fix as I’ve ever seen.

Been away from the game for 10 years. Used to be a good golfer. This is opposite of how I used to start my swing. I rotated my club back inside to set my wrists. As I've been getting stronger and back to swinging full shots I've definitely been missing a lot of shots. I'm going to give this a shot since I can't continue doing what I have been. Before my injury I was a single digit handicap. I'm pretty sure I'm a bogey golfer now. I have a lot of work to do but it's great getting back into it. I'll have to check out your other videos.

How your wrists move is so key. My swing thought was to cock the right wrist back, instead of cocking it up. This automatically makes the left wrist flat(or slightly bowed), and lays the shaft on plane(right palm holding a tray). Almost all amateurs get this wrong. They’re trying to cock the club up, and that puts the club across the line, with a cupped left wrist, and an open face, just like you pointed out. Great video! I remember my left wrist getting sore when I first changed this. It felt strange, but it was so worth the change. Much more predictable flight, with much better strike.

I've always learned A TON from your videos. Here's an idea for a new one...not sure if you'll read this or not but if you do, hopefully you'll like this idea. Topic: What makes a great practice facility? Specifically, what kinds of grasses/conditions/course-up-keep do you feel makes a great driving range practice area? This is obviously a wide range of opinions, but I'd love to hear your thoughts. Also.....for full swing practice (and short game to some degree), what kind of hitting mats and chipping pads do you like the best that you think course superintendents could use in their practice areas? What kinds of pitfalls can arise from poor technique on mats or poorly kept grass? And any other practice facility opinions you'd like to inject. I happen to have a putting green in my backyard in Phoenix, AZ - it's about 800 sq ft. I always find practice area and short game stuff fascinating, so if you want to cover this topic OR if you're ever in AZ and want to shoot a "backyard short game" episode from "Club 3130" and become an "honorary member" (which just means signing the guest book) let me know!!! Best wishes on your continued pursuits for pro golf qualifiers!!! Very inspiring sir! Eric

Wow I’m new and was chipping and just grabbed my wedge and decided to just no wrist hinge full power chip with a super strong grip and wow most consistent straight shots, but using absolutely no hing so at the top feels very odd so tried doing some hing and have been in shambles. But I know exactly why. I roll it out like you described. Now if I just go back to a full power chip instead of rolling I go all the way back and wrist naturally hinges now thank you so much

I like it. I have a tendency to start my back swing with a little wrist movement. But after watching a lot of your video and one on taking 3/4 back swings, I started to hold my wrist position more and just let it hinge on it's own when I start my downswing - which I think is what you are suggesting here. Works a lot better. Much more consistent - especially when chipping or taking less than a full swing. Great stuff.

Can’t wait til I’m done with shitty work to go try this out.. been playing golf for 16 years on and off and recently got the golf bug back because of a work outing .. I wanna say in the last two months I was hitting every club in my bag including 3wood (which I was pounding 250 yds)and driver pretty consistently and I was like finally!! I was so stoked that I got a certain feeling in my back swing I like. Well yesterday it went all to shit because I was struggling with my 3 wood as if I’ve never played the damn game.. I was furious and to top it off the range had a power outage right when I bought a large bucket.. at this point I was enraged..

I went for a lesson today. I roll my forearms open in my takeaway and have my wrist cupped at the top. I was told it causes an increase in loft and a loss in distance. And ya, I said but Freddie Couples has a cupped wrist at the top. I think I do this because I was always told to have the club toe up when the club is parallel to the ground. But instead of turning my body back to do this, I’ve gotten out of sync and move my arms first then my body. He had me hit shots moving the club outside the target line without rolling my forearms. Alternatively, he said I could take it to the top as I do but then I had to rotate my left hand from cupped to bowed. I think you had a vid on a move like this too. We also worked a little in syncing up the body and arms but I had enough just trying to work on the wrist.
