I like the trick, but to keep the math simple instead of adding 1 to the first number you would, in this case 14+1=15, you would keep it the same so you don’t have to add 1 to the last number. Because (46-15)+1=46-14. Same math with less steps.
@scottw72443 жыл бұрын
Why do you get the spectator to pick a number? You then don't use it in the trick (from their perspective). Also, you add one at the start then subtract it at the end: the maths is easier if you subtract from the new total.

I have easier math. 14 cards you counted on bottom. 6 from spectator’s number 14+6=20 52-20=32. You don’t have to worry about adding a one twice.
@Ellyl13 жыл бұрын
Indeed. Even if he eliminates the +1 in both spots, the trick still works. 14 cards counted initially, remember 14. Spectator number is 46. 46 -14 is 32. In the original presentation, he is adding 1 to only take it away to no effect.
@andrewharpin67493 жыл бұрын
To make the maths easier, 1st, don't add the one to the cut count. 2nd, add the cards dealt to the bottom to your cut count. 3rd, subtract the total from 2nd from 52 to get your index. Fewer numbers to remember and fewer steps

Its cool that the math works, but if I were a spectator, I would be super skeptical that you asked me for a random number, but then didn't actually do anything with it. And why would I trust that your number is actually random, and not a predetermined number that makes the trick work? I suppose it all comes down to effective patter?

I don't get it. You ask the participant for a number and then you just say, I want to use my number though. The spectator will just say, what happenend to the number I chose. Did I miss something here? Why do you need to calculate something with the number from the spectator? You could just ignore his number because you already know where the card ist. The 15th card from the bottom and the 38th card from the top. If you deal 6 Cards it gets the 32nd card from top. Why did you have to do some calculations with the specatator's number, if you then ignore it completly as far as the spectator is concerned. He doesn't know that you calculated anything using his number in the performance.

Why complicate this? Really, the trick is in the counting. In your example, the card is 15th from the bottom. At that point, you're 52-15 = 37. The method here then has the spectator share a number that we're going to ignore. We do nothing with it and any spectator is likely to catch that. Why not work in a false reveal? Encourage a smaller number instead of a larger. Count out their cards. Let's say 25. Count them down and show the wrong answer. Put the stack on the bottom. Now, we're at 37-25=12. "I think I know what went wrong. Really, the magic is in your hands. [Place the deck in their hands] I'll make you work half as much as you made me work. Let's try counting down 12." They hold the big reveal in their hands. You use their number. You don't need math to figure out a number of cards to deal for their pick (because really, it's inconsequential. You could just as easily always deal ten and then fix that "greater than 35" problem you mention. I guess I'm missing what the complications add as they seem to remove the spectator from the trick entirely.

Yo good trick, but rather than this complicated unnecessary maths. It could have been like 52 - 14 - 6(or whatever number of cards you deal after you ask for the spectators number). That way its much easier.
@sasidhar_palagummi3 жыл бұрын
Isn't the computation of reaching the number of position of card little too complicated? It is evident from the tutorial...the position of card selected by the spectator is arrived easily after counting the number of cards in the smaller deck (counted while showing to the spectator...in the present tutorial it is 14) as 38 from top. Simply subtract from this number whatever number of cards counted as discarded (here in this tutorial:6). The position of card will be 38-6=32. We may not require to do so much arithmetic to arrive at figure 32. After counting the number of cards in the smaller pile...we can ask spectator to choose any number between 1 to 10 and if they choose 8...count 8 cards and place them at bottom of the pile..and then you can say my guess is 30 (that is arrived simply by calculation 38-8=30). Look forward to MLT's Comment on this variation.

Bro adding +1 literally doesn't make any sense. Why would you count how many cards are below where they cut off from and then add one, subtract that number from the spectator's number (you used 46) and then add 1 again? Defeats the whole purpose. Just count how many cards are under where they cut off and that's it. So during your explanation, instead of counting 14 cards + 1 = 15 and then 46 - 15 = 31 and then 31 + 1 + 32, why don't you just count 14, and then 46 - 14 = 32. Same thing, still works, and eliminates unnecessary steps.
@MLTMagicTricks3 жыл бұрын
Good idea, I learned the trick the way I taught it in the video and did not realize that. Either way the trick will still work, and the adding 1 parts are not to big of a deal to do anyway.
