Hello: When you have drilled a hole in a sanwit's construction, you should fill the hole with marine-grade epoxy resins. The hole you have made must be oversized, so you have ensured that water does not enter your construction. What you get is a "plug" that sticks and shuts off moisture, and you can drill the right size hole. If it is something that really has to last for a long time, there should be a plate on the back

When you drill holes you should seal the wood with two pac glue before putting the ss bolts or fittings in with sikaflex, that way if moisture does make its way in under the sikaflex it wont soak into the wood.

@mikeskelly2356Ай бұрын
Mount a pulley to Port and starboard just a few inches forward of the Tiller Bar and you can run the steering lines parallel to the Bar, giving both easier steering and clearance for the 'Decking' you need for Solar. Attaching the lines to the Bar with Stainless springs will take up any stretch while allowing the rudders to 'flex' independent of the wheel, reducing wear and Pilot fatigue... Also, don't neglect to apply 'Dielectric Grease' on all 'push on' and screw connections to prevent corrosion... There's 'Pretty and functional' and there's 'Functional', both work the same, one just requires serving your guests liberal amounts of genever before a tour of the boat! 🥳

Thought I could hear Mary in the background and then you spun the camera around to show her, glad to see your parents getting some more time with you at anchor. The short clip of you sailing really shows why you need the wishbone boom for the main, probably quicker to make one with aluminium rather than wood, at this stage you just need it good enough to get you underway 👍Congrats on getting the sails up 🎉 and even better in the time frame you planned 👍

you definitely need a boom and a traveller, boom to be able to adjust the clue tension on the main sail foot, called outhaul, a traveler to be able to adjust the sheeting angle across the boat of the main sail sheet. Also need to be able to adjust the tension of the mainsail luff (mast track side) by a sheet called a cunningham from the mainsail tack to the deck at the base of the mast. Well done by the way.
