Had the front sway bar fail on my W126. It sure makes for interesting handling!! The weld on ends saved it. The suspension doesn't drop, but the wheel isn't held properly laterally. When it happens it's like driving on a water bed. Next time I'm up in Bellingham you're welcome to take a peek if you want!

With your help and some others, my 94 E420 is almost fully restored. Thx for your help!

The weld-on piece works great. There was an outfit in Florida that sold a similar product some years ago. Installation was straight forward enough and a pro did the welding job on mine. A really wonderful solution to a common rust belt problem.

A great idea to repair the anti roll bar. Many thanks for the video, Kent.

Man I was aware of the pain pf replacing the bar but 20 hours!!! I was going to put a w126 HPF front bar on my 550sel for the slightly stiffer bar but I’m reconsidering now

Just curious, if this sway bar is a 20 hour replacement, how do you easily gain access to repair…?

If you pull the front tire and look under the fender the end of the sway bar is right there. Plenty of room to work around it for the repair.

I remember it was a real pain to change the one in the engine bay.

Hey Kent, I know this video is a few months old now. I have a clunking noise that sounds like it is from the rear at low speeds during right turns. I am wondering if it is my rear sway bar link. I can come to a full stop, and then when I make the sharp right turn it clunks and pops pretty loud. Then once I get to a faster speed and no longer am turning right it goes away. (Funny enough, when the temps get above 60 degrees here in Illinois the noise disappears all together.) Any ideas?

That sure sounds like a spyder joint in one of your rear axles is failing
