Mike, Kelley, and I traveled to Columbia, SC to drop Kelley off for her annual job training. We decided to turn the trip into a metal detecting adventure. We ended up in the yard of an old house, and although it seemed like a bust at first, something incredible happened. Suddenly, old coins and relics started surfacing, including a lot of silver and a coin that we almost never find while metal detecting!

That's a great spot, John. We (Soda City Chasers) have been hunting it for about 2 years now - about 15 silvers, several Buffs, some IHPs, and a 14K Clemson class ring. That strip of grass used to be where the old streetcar system ran up to the top of the hill. The place is just full of older coins. Congrats to you guys for a good hunt!

Nice large cent! Had a great hunt myself this weekend at a 60s school ... Found a 1834 capped bust half in XF+ my first 1800s silver and I've been doing this since the late 80s. Goes to show you never know

Good for you Kelly. Keep at it. You'll find some silver yet. I've found 2 1916 mercury dimes but not with the D mint mark. One of my best finds was a 1901 Barber and I found and old railroad watch fob with the date and other info and most of the original paint on it. Keep at it. Learn your machine. Mike nice finds bro.
