I've seen this strategy! Uthermal did this in a "1 Terran vs 10 Insane AI" challenge last year. He just hunkered down behind an army of tanks and waited for the AIs to a-move in until they'd literally mined out the map.

Considering how bad this game was, I don't know what to believe. The imba report feels so over the top conceited and flowery + such terrible plays as make moar a-move zealot/stalker run-bys feels like he's just trolling while intentionally playing badly. Bad observer management, no proper use of aoe's like disruptors or even early use of aoe's. I don't even think he could have gone wrong with voidrays. I would even say he could have done some sort of cloak cheese like cloak a disruptor outside the detection line and bomb some tanks and move away. I don't know. But terran design is pretty stupid, like they have all these ridiculously good light units that deal ridiculously good damage to other light units, which light units have the bonus damage to, GET THIS, other light units like the hellbat, so it's no like you can just pile up adepts and kill the hellbats, but bad protoss. Probably played that way to make protoss look bad.

I feel like this game has the sort of tragic decision-making that usually only good players make. New players usually get so hung up on what units counter what that they don't improve their macro, and lose to simple "more stuff beats less stuff." This game just goes to show that unit comps do in fact matter, and at no time is that more true than when facing mech.

@@ledrash6079 I disagree. Put a lesser mech player in Goodys situation and the garbage strategy of that toss would have worked. Just a little worse chokes, a litle worse tank positioning and the terran would have been dead. Tank based mech itself is not a good strat vs a macroing toss. Goody was at quite some points relatively close to being broken. With slightly worse positioning he would have been dead. It is due to his great positioning that he survived.

Oof only Shield lvl2 upgrades when the majority of his army was Archons. Refuses to build immortals vs tanks. Refuses to build air units because of a commitment to gateways. Doesn't use the prism to find a weak point in the back. Yes, if you constantly run into a spiked wall, you're going to end up as holes.

tbh, armor/shield upgrades aren't super valuable vs high damage burst units like tanks. vs marines/carriers/voids or any other low damage fast attack unit they are fantastic. it's better to have them than not, but its not super impactful as it doesnt reduce as much if that makes sense but yeah a prism in the nat could've been good, i just kind of assumed there were a wall of turrets. even mothership into the main could've been good.

Having PTSD here watching this poor protoss try his best to crush a terran defense and failing miserably... we've all been there. Also this time Harstem had little to say of his plays. He expanded, he got upgrades he tried attacking multiple places... The issue is, he needed to go air, and for me, that means it is imba 😅

Little to say? He accurately pointed out that the protoss just threw away units endlessly, like he was purposely trolling. At most he attacked in two places at once and one of those attacks was always just an A-move. If you're going to try to break mech with only gateway units, using a prism and attacking in 3+ locations is a must. Real review of this game: Heaven was disrespecting Goody and playing bad on purpose because he thought he could win anyway. When he didn't win he decided to get some comedy out of it by submitting it here

Thanks for this one - I just started playing casually after over 20 years of not playing any games. Currently playing mech Terran just against AI to get back into it; beat intermediate after a couple tries, 25apm vs 148. Best I've had so far is 37. That'll increase once I get back used to using camera hotkeys and do a few remaps (eg. Battlecruiser Y is way too close to T, utilize Q and W for armies, etc) but I'm thinking apm is a somewhat artificial benchmark... I guess I'll have to to diamond first to know for sure. I'm using a Mac with Magic Trackpad 2 to attempt to prove that it's a viable tool - I hate mice. Anyway shout out to all the old people out there who are still at it. : )

This is high Masters / low-GM decision making and scouting, people. This should be proof enough for most people to realize that if you're below Diamond it's not because you lack high-level game knowledge (in most cases). Anyone can get to Diamond 3 if you just learn the fundamentals of macro and a-move. I was Gold 3 and then I watched VibeLoL's B2GM series and got Diamond 3 in ~3 months of only playing on the weekend. And I'm still garbage at this game. If I can do it, you can do it.
