Yes, because of his own struggles he has tremendous empathy for those that suffer. This must have been very hard for him to do because of his grief at the loss of Chester and his own experiences. Dan is a great human being 🤘❤️🤘

As with many in your audience, this song hits hard. My family has experienced the aftermath of too many suicides. You can tell how much Dan is feeling Chester's lyrics and how he is trying to reach out to someone who is in that dark place. Thanks for showcasing this, Bill. Hopefully, it made a good difference for someone sitting on the fence today.

I think most people alive these days have been affected by the loss of someone to their own hands which is so very heartbreaking. I know of Dan's struggles too. What a wonderful human being to do this in tribute to Chester and to giving hope to others so they may not take Chesters' path. ❤️

This is such a raw and impassioned performance, and his remarks afterwards are also heartfelt. His outreach to those suffering from depression, or having suicidal thoughts, is perhaps Dan's greatest contribution to the world - aside from his musical artistry of course. And you remarked on the old setup and the shirt - in older videos he always just wore his own clothes, lots of T-shirts and a number of plaid shirts like this (probably depending on the weather). Now he seems to have become either The Man in Black or The Man in the Muscle Shirt. 😊 See, for example, Loch Lomond or I See Fire (both non-metal, BTW, and both great). Thanks, Bill. I love all of Dan’s videos, because not only does it document his journey…but it reveals the beauty of his heart and soul. Dan’s vocals in this is gritty and edgy, and he sang it flawlessly! To me it sounds like Dan recorded this without the bells and whistles of special effects, which is amazing, but also not needed….for Dan Vasc IS the special effect. I'm right with you, there. Been in a similar situation, while raising my four kids as well. Now (because of my "second and forever husband"), we have six children (yours, mine, and ours), 22 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. God is Good, and getting through the pain and depression is SO important. This song as well as "Heart of Steel" are my two favorite Dan songs...if I had to choose, that is. 😀

Thanks for reacting to this one. Dan is very about depression as he himself suffered from it years ago. There’s another song he covers on this subject as well, Heart of Steel, which is a very touching song and Dan says some important sentences in Portuguese in the beginning, so it’s a good idea to add subtitles. Dan has spoken about his own issue with depression in his past. One of a very very early video he did is Josh Groban's you are loved and he has a message after that addressing Mental Health David Draiman of disturbed has a song a reason to fight you want to see the official lyric video because it's him talking and testimonies from audience members regarding the Demons of mental health and substance abuse. It's very very powerful. And he does mention Chester when he's talking to the audience. Disturbed song Inside the Fire is about him coming home and discovering his partner had just killed herself. When he was younger he did find his girlfriend who had OD'd I think he was about in high school. Thank you very much for addressing this topic. I too and dual diagnosed in that I have a mental health diagnosis and substance abuse. Just celebrated by the grace of God one day at a time 6 years clean and sober
