same. My sweet husband loves to tease me about my death pile. It has helped me record in a journal daily the tally of items I list. It was fun to see my progress. I try to beat my own listing record each week.

Those who have a death pile have proven to everyone else that it is not the selling, but the acquiring that is truly important. How would the grocery store manager do if he took the things he liked and kept them in the back of the store? No one is going to fire you Rusty, but really... do what you said you wanted to do. In spite of your "Hick" routine anyone listening to you knows that you are a smart man who knows his stuff. Now, act like it! Or start a new KZbin sight and call it "Playing the eBay Game"; learn from a professional! Or start a local 12 - Step program for people who pose as resellers. And yes, the glasses are precious!.

@@RustyTheReseller Sure why not? Or have you looked at whatnot at all? Some resellers love it. There are several sellers who do very well there. Some have a small audience but some have a large following. Maybe watch some of the resellers while you are listing stuff to see if it would work for you. Anyway thanks so much for all u do! I felt like you were speaking directly to me cuz. I thought I was the only one. I am addicted to sourcing and it takes me so long to list things. My death piles are huge!!!! I have so much stuff and my husband & daughter are upset with me because of it. How can I make myself stop sourcing?!?!?? I only buy from online auctions and I get so many awesome things!!! It’s hard to pass up on when I know I’m getting a deal.

Just an idea, I know your channel is mostly focused on helping other resellers, but maybe consider doing KZbin sale videos? It works for a lot of people and I’m sure you have the audience and it would help move stuff. Just a thought, love your videos :)

I have considered it. it's worth putting out there to see if people want that......from us. So far the channel has been built upon free education without the intention of turning you into a "customer". I'm well aware that several channels in our niche do this, and make good money from it. I guess what i'm saying is that i'm still on the fence.. Convince me.....

LoL i do the SAME THING! My apt is cluttered because i have a hard time getting rid of anything. My clothes are everywhere because my drawers are full of this that the other including junk "i may need someday.". But o found you today researching old postcards. I was buying auctions to sell but my partner sold her truck and i dont have room anyway. But i got a carved wood trunk and inside is several old postcards, mostly used with thier stamps, an old newspaper, old doll, and a letter to parents of a son who died in WWII signed by Harry Truman. But i have gone through every postcard trying to figure out if the stamp was worth anything and every time i spend hours and hours until im going insane because i still can't find their worth. So many look the same but one is worthless and some are not. 90% are from 1898-1918. I have a letter that is still in its stamped envelope from 1848, wax stamp, to a man in Paris who lost his wife and the person was concerned about the mans Little girl now without a Mother.

I was 19 when i purchased my first item on Ebay, but i honestly don't remember the first thing I sold. The purchase was a hand held video camera that used the tiny video tapes that you would then put into a vhs size adaptor to put into a VCR for viewing. It was damaged when i got it but still worked ok. I used it at a summer camp that Both my buddy Peaches and I worked just after high school...

The “procrastination death pile”. We managed to get everything listed by December 1st by listing 10 items a day for 30 days. Setting up templates has sped up my listing process. So yes, I can relate.

What I have been doing is sorting my unlisted inventory into A, B and C. A being high value and things I know sell well for me. Then I’ve been working on listing As. I have found this to be a great strategy. The Bs and Cs I plan to lot up and sell wholesale to other resellers. It’s great stuff and some is high value but it no longer matches my business plan. Then, once I am done this process my plan is to have 3 bins of unlisted inventory only. And only go sourcing when the #1 bins is empty (i.e.listed) Then move the empty bin to the #3 spot…and move up #2 to #1, # 3 to #2 and new inventory goes in #3… and keep rotating. That way I won’t be tempted to list new inventory before old. When I find listing to be a drag, I find 5 like items to list. Listing is faster that way. Wish me luck!

Great ideas. In a sense, I have done the same thing...for the most part. If I buy a lot of items, i pick the ones that will bring the most money and sell them first. Once my investment is back, i usually slow play the rest. Most of what I showed actually came in large lots, my money is already back to me, but that isn't a good enough excuse to hold on to things. @@RustyTheReseller Yes, I used to do the same thing...make sure I recoup my outlay first...but something Technsports said that stuck with me is "we are in the selling business, not the storage businss" and he is right. Our unlisted inventory should match our listing goals. If we have more inventory than we could possibly list in 3 months (or even 1 month). Huston, we have a problem! LOL!

I struggle with the same. Issues. I sourced some items at the beginning that were mistakes so I plan to donate those and try to start 2024 with a better strategy. My goal is to comp more before buying.

That's exactly how I was, but that's part of the process. You have to "do" the work in the beginning to figure it all out. Mistakes are made, but you learn from them, accept the losses...and move forward. Thanks for your honesty and for the comment!

Dr Rusty! I have so many of the same frustrations and beat myself up over them as well! It's so good to know I'm not the only one. For me, perversely, the more valuable the item, the longer it takes for me to list. I guess I worry about making a mistake, not getting what it's worth, liking it too much...or something. So I'm off to list the Christmas items I have that need to go up NOW and then five high value items. I'll report back. Meanwhile...GREAT hot tip! Omg, I thought I was the only one that had that issue....afraid to list stuff thinking that I might make a huge mistake and sell something for $100 when I could get $1000!!! Rusty - hang in there, I can guarantee I have more stuff sitting around then you do I have a 3 car garage full of stuff to sell - no room for our cars! And a whole room in my house full! Yes, I too am on a 12 step NO BUY program. Is is so much fun and exciting to go to estate/yard sales. I don’t want to leave this mess for my daughter to deal with. Not that I am old… but you never know. Now, if years from now, leave her a full well organized ebay store. That’s a good thing.
