Honestly, Big Mek with Mega Armor getting the Mek Kaptin enhancement with Kustom Force Field wargear feels like the way to go for me -- getting those Flash Gitz a 4+ invuln and regen feels really good.

Yeah, I feel that the SAG is distracting people from just how good the Gitz are with the Mega-Mek leading them. As well as the survivability buff, which is important because people are absolutely going to be trying to get rid of them as fast as possible, you've got the Mek adding his Klaw to their melee. Gitz already do anti-horde melee very well, often surprising people who expect them to be weak, but they do struggle against bigger stuff. They also really want to get close if they can, so you can control which target they get their extra shots against. Of course, then there's the tricky decision of whether to go with the Kustom Mega-Blasta, which is very dangerous with the re-roll but might inconveniently get the Mek killed if you get over-excited with it. (On a related note, the Mega Armour is also handy if some sneaky git tries to pick off your boss with Precision...)

Don't forget the other ability the Big Mek in Meg gets. Per command phase, bring back one destroyed bodyguard model. I used it and kept bringing back a flash Git that went down. Made them much MUCH harder to shift.

The sleeper model in this Detachment is the humble basic Mek. He's already very handy for buffing Ork vehicles and giving them +1 to hit, but now he can also shout orders at the same time, so with good positioning he can buff two units at once for his 45 points. He's also the cheapest way to get both orders and an Enhancement into a squad,, if you want Lootas with +1 to hit at a discount, though TBH if he's not also fixing stuff the SAG Big Mek probably adds more for a fairly small points increase. Also, with Shoota Drills working on Mounted units we have the possibility of Deffkoptas hitting on 4+ with their Rokkits, and if that doesn't scare you you clearly haven't seen what happens when six of them shoot into a horde unit.

There's one unit I haven't seen anyone talk about, Mek Gunz. yes they are probably still better in Dread Mob w/ goggles, but a Big Mek can lead them, granting the infantry keyword, and allowing them to receive the +1 to shooting order. 3+ Bubblechukkas and KMK's sound like an absolute blast. you could even bring a normal Mek to actually issue the order and give the Big Mek the Gob Boomer for 18" orders to leaderless units, or give the re-roll charge / +1 strength order to things like the Kill Rig or Gorkanaught fighting in the midboard. I absolutely love this detachment as an Orks and Guard player, and I'm so excited to get some playtime with this detachment.

Well it don't work.... yes you can issue orders on the mek gunz but for +1 to hit and stealth it work only on infantry/mounted models in the unit. So even if you attach a leader the unit, only the unit will gain infantry but not the mek gunz (that why even with a Shokk attagun in them mek gunz can,t go through wall)

@@herendel Ah shoot, Yea you are right, I misread the Order and got it's wording confused. Still I think most other things I said is still generally applicable, having a mek give the Big Mek +1 to hit and the Big Mek free to shout orders to things further up the board still seems at least worth trying out. Then you can really feel like a guard player with your artillery line lmao.

Str 10 ap3 for one turn if you use the pulsa rokkit. And with most marine units being 5 models to start with its 10shots minimum due to blast. Always try to maximise your shot amount.

I think this detachment's core rule is a great example of how modern 40K design has evolved since the early days. You can give two orders to an Ork unit and risk mortal wounds, _however_ even if you take the mortal wounds, you _still_ get both orders. If this rule were designed back in "the old days", they'd have leaned way more into the "flavor" of the Orks being goofy dumbasses and would have said "if it fails, you take mortal wounds _and_ the orders don't work because lmao they just argue and fight with each other!". It would have been awful. Nowadays it seems like they're really leaning into how cool and threatening orks can be while sprinkling in just a taste of that classic dumbass spice for flavor, and I think it's all the better for t.

Halfof my army has always been a Dread Mob. The other half is made for this. All those years of painting camo on Stormboyz and Flash Camo on Flash Gitz was worth it.

Big Mek in mega armour attached to Flash Gitz is scary. 4+ invulnerable with the force field plus can bring back dead flash gitz each turn

I was thinking that too. Plus, because the stealth and cover tactic only calls out Meganobs and not mega armor models in general, the Big Mek could still give it to the Flash Git unit along with the +1 to hit for shooting. That turns Flash Gitz to an effective 3+ armor save with the 4+ invuln and -1 to hit them for shooting.

What Blood Axe detachment? I just see a detachment based around giving orders to your Boys that can be used with any Ork subfaction regardless of themeing, so it doesn't have to so slavishly appeal to the very specific image of one kind of army and can instead be much more varied.

I’d be tempted to use this detachment for my Badmoons. I still need to build out some Flash Gitz. +1 to hit could be good on Lootas if they decided to move, but I’d probably use Sneaky Stalkin on them to give stealth and benefit of cover instead. I feel like either the Big Mek with Shokk Attack Gun or a Big Mek in Mega Armour with KFF would be best for the Mek Kaptin enhancement. Attach them to some Flash Gitz and give the Shoota Drills order for +1 to hit so they can move and fire at full effectiveness. I have 30 Stormboyz from 8th edition so it’s nice to see a detachment that gives them battleline. This is just a solid detachment I’d probably run on the regular.

Extreme flavor warning!! This detachment is awesome and hope they continue to explore this archetype on future codexes! This is right up there with the Iconoclast Fiefdom detachment CKs got. Awesome iconic mechanics that can be finetuned but the rough ideas here are LOVELY! Much like I hope to see CSM continue to get Dark Pacts and how flavorful that ability is. Far better than the wontons of 9th imho.

Fun thing to so with the strats: Lethal Hits on Beast Snagga Boyz charging a vehicle/monster. With a Beastboss they hit on 2s, and they natively reroll all hits against vehicles and monsters, and can get Taktiks pretty easily with the aforementioned Beastboss. A nice bonus is that with Taktiks, even outside of WAAAAAAAAAGGGHHHH, they can get S6 against the legions of big things at T10/T11. Sounds like a great time for anyone who got the Combat Patrol.

I'm just pleased they gave us a little more viable dakka from shooty units, while still giving options for melee as well. The Big Mek w SAG leading Flash Gitz is exactly what I was looking for.

Melee dreds can get some good buffs, plus it makes it easier to make sure a naut gets where you want it, so definitely some vehicular shenanigans to go round. also adding a bigmek in MA to flashgitz seems more useful, keeping them topped up and protected from counter fire, plus adding some melee bite seems good.

The redeploy enhancement specifies "ork unit" only. So 3 stompas could be switched out of put in reserves. (This WILL get FAQ'd, same for the issues with the 'join Kommandos' enhancement. But it's funny to think of a little Ork Creed sneaking stompas around)

So interestingly the battleshock makes them lose their orders buff. Is this a glimpse into the guard codex? Cause battle shock only matters for recieving orders, not sending them out. Or is that already a part of the rule?

Am I missing something with this? I run dread mob and feel as a shooty army, dread mob with plenty of meks/mek guns/kans with rockets is fantastically superior to this one? Killa Kans with the button abilities hitting on 4+ is awesome, the git finder googles and mek guns with that button is deadly! This new on eis fun, but if you want a shooty detachment dreadmob seems still way better...although lovely to have this new sneaky option!

pretty janky detachment for rules bugs. Auspex mentioned the one about beastbosses on squigosaurs leading kommandos, but also the big mek enhancement for re roll hits can be given to the big mek in mega armour, letting the mek start repairing models and bringing back flash gitz

I love this detachment. It is a rare thing for me to compliment 10th - but for once, this really does feel cooler than the 9th edition blood axes. (Edit: I meant the main rule, specifically. The blood axe stratagems were pretty much on par if not a little better, and the relics and warlord traits were better. Cover was nice enough for Kommandos, but did very little for other units, what with our rather low saves. It also just always seemed a bit boring)

orky orders do look very fun, but its a bit sad that there's so little for kommandos and stormboyz in the detachment. Adding a warboss to kommandos is a cool idea, but with kommandos being a relatively small unit, that'll often make combat before the rest of your army calls the waaagh (if they even survive that long) your spending more points on a warboss to put him in a squad that's worse for him

i love/hate this detachment. Love it for the joke of orks actually using 'tactics' but hate it because 'orks doing tactics actually good!?!?' lol Flashgitz dump out of a vehicle, bigmek gives orders to hit betta and den be sneaky (Bigmek himself is Mega Armor, not Meganobz, so he doesnt kill the stealth order). Good odds with a leader to not fail the leadership and just light up something fierce. I think i would care about stormboyz as battleline if i had a stormboss. Theres not much they can achieve without characters buffing them even with orders.

Its okay for shooting, it buffs flash gitz by allying them with bigmek in mega armor for full rerolls in shooting and a order to give +1 bs. That order can be used on basically anything other then vehicles and you can buff vehicles with meks who get to give orders to buff nearby infantry support. New shooting tankbustas are also good for dakka focused orks. Buggies kind of get screwed but most other shooting stuff is buffed in this detachment because of how good it makes meks and the shooting order.

One of the orders is literally +1 to hit with shooting. Both variants of Big Mek give rerolls of 1s to hit to their unit, there's an enhancement that gives *full rerolls to hit*, you can even give the orders to Bikes, give them +1 to hit AND Stealth/Cover, pop a trike in there so they can basically hit whatever they want at half range... Basically, you know nothing.
