Grab a panel off a car, paint it, have the whole donut crew sign it, and auction it off for charity. Could also do a raffle and donate the money from it to a charity. Or do what Hoonigan did and every dollar spent from a merch sale = entries into the raffle.

It is weird that red is the most expensive colour nowadays in the old times it was the cheapest so many armies wore red and many flags have red inside them as well. Paints and dyes often have different sources for their pigment. So the dye might have been easier to obtain than the paint pigment.
@kolorklash97434 жыл бұрын
Reason why red is expensive now is that they were dependant on lead Additives to give reds and yellows good coverage however which changes in Voc levels and so on companies had to give up this type of formulation and now need to use more of the pigments to achieve the coverage.

Glasurit is good stuff. There's a reason why a lot of German cars use it. Look at how durable years later their finishes are compared to other manufacturers and their methods of body finishing. The undercoating/ rust inhibitors/ protective coating procedures are also not created equal. Take cosmoline and cavity waxes for example. The quality/ application process can make all the difference in preserving the metal work for years to come. Thanks for sharing this, even though I've worked in the collision/ body industry it was still cool to see and educational.

In most applications, water is considered a solvent. More conveniently, it's also a highly polar solvent, meaning that it is pretty effective at bonding to and dissolving a lot of different compounds. So any other solvents aside from water that are added to water-based paints are used to make the other compounds more soluble in water.

This video is absolutely incredible! I knew paint is complicated, that spectrometers were used to generate a paint code, and that paint code was put into a computer which then tells you what ingredients to put and how much. You then go up to a huge rack of ingredients and use a super accurate weighing scale to measure each ingredient and mix. Even a slight deviation messes the paint up. I had no idea that two slightly different shades of the same colour could have a 10x difference in price. I live in India. Over here most non-dealership body shops are tiny independant set-ups that can't really afford spectrometers or paint booths. When they need a particular paint, they usually take the fuel tank lid to a paint distributor who uses a spectrometer and makes the mix. Most paint shops don't put in the effort to carefully mix the paint exactly as specified by the software, so there is almost always at least a minor difference in the new paint and old one. The dealerships usually have all the equipment and ingredients and do try their best to mix the paint properly but in most cases a trained eye can spot what panels on a car have been repainted. The exception is only with the luxury car dealerships, because they usually have super expensive fully automated paint mixers that are 100 percent accurate with the ingredient measurement. Depending on the car type, brand and size, dealerships typically repaint an entire car for between USD 1,000 and 2,000. The independent body shops can do it for USD 250 to 600, but you can be pretty sure the paint will be noticeably different from the original, and quite likely begin to fade in a year. Sometimes they do such a bad job that the paint will begin to crack in the summer and form a kind of mosaic pattern.

You should paint accents on any bike you own, that would accent well with the silver Porsche paint. Fans would love to see you work on your own bikes while taking us through the paint process.

The most expensive paint I’ve mixed at work was Ford Mystichrome. $4000 per gallon in PPG Deltron DBC. I used 2oz to paint my valve cover. It was $63 for 2oz.

I think you guys should have some car accessory painted with that paint and sell them on your website as a limited run. Maybe something like aluminum valve stem covers with a donut “d” on it or something like that? Or maybe some donut enamel pins with the liquid metal paint as limited edition pins. OR paint one type of car accessory with it and then do a giveaway on your social media platforms. 1 of 1 exclusivity is always a home run.

Midnight purple might just be the best stock paint color of all time imo.

I've painted a lot with both the 22 series and 90 series paints by Glasurit. Another note to remark about the Glasurit lines of paints is that they're also made for ease of use and learning them is alot easier than other paints. A Glasurit 22 line beige and a Glasurit 22 line black color will behave similarly when being sprayed onto a panel. They balance the ratios of ingredients so that all paints feel the same to put down and they also make sure they cover similarly across the board. However in my experiences with other brands such as Spies Heckler Permasolid line I tried two colors, a black one and a beige one. The black color had an ok surface tension flow but they beige one had a very high chance of making runs, the fact that when painting with Spies Heckler I had to learn myself how to thin out the beige color to stop it from making it run was very irritating. Other brand such as Spies Heckler permasolid behave extremely differently even though they work the same as the 22 line from Glasurit. I have a lot experiences with other brands and a confidence to say that if you get to learn glasurit it is by far the best paint option on the market, both for the hobby market and the professional one. And before anyone asks what paintgun I use I have two SATAjet 4000 B RP digital 1.3. One for Clear coats and solvent paints, and another for Water based paints. Just my two cents.

I’ve been lucky enough to have a dad who went to a glasurit painting school and has sprayed the paint professionally for over 25 years now and he’s even rubbing off some of the knowledge onto me lol.
