This is properly amazing. To give that much time and to put that much effort in to keeping your bird occupied and stimulated is absolutely fantastic. I mean yes, this lady might have the time, but she doesn't have the health, and yet she knows what he needs in order to be a healthy birdy and so she does what he needs and enjoys. And ofc then there is the bond building. Honestly, if only every owner could be this invested in their animals welfare and wellbeing. I really hope this lovely lady is able to get a handle on her chronic illness/inflammation, bless her. And I hope that she and her furry flying surrogate son have many a happy year together. So adorable! And such a pretty colour! A blue budgie almost. Gran had a blue budgie when I was little (the typical budgie colours - still beautiful but not that amazing blue!). I would go stay with her and we'd have a routine of things we'd do, and a couple of hours in the afternoon was Beauty's time. We'd close up the living room doors and windows, and his cage would get opened so he could have exercise (this was in the early 70s, Gran died when I was still quite young but we were very close so some memories are well and truly etched!) Compared to many budgie owners of the time, she was quite liberal. We'd settle on the sofa to read, and he'd always stop flying around and would come and sit on my shoulder - the one on Gran's side - and he would listen to every word, occasionally chipping in with one of his words. I'm convinced he loved doing that, as in the video, he could fly away any time he liked. I don't know what happened to him after she died, I dare say he was rehomed. He did stay with us when Gran would come to stay, sharing our green budgie's cage (they seemed happy together). I have very few memories of ours, even though he, too, was allowed out for exercise. Can't even remember his name🤷 Like I said, I was young. Wish I'd had a relationship like this pair though!
