If Clint ever got a chance to go to Fort Riley, KS (1st Infantry Division), he'd be in hog heaven when he sees all the old M-Series trucks. Last time I counted, they had about 500 in a lot. Not sure if they were going DRMO or if they were just spares for emergency use. The railroad came right by the lot which happened to be where they would load equipment on trains for transport. I was assigned to an Air Force TACP unit there at Fort Riley for five years. I basically was in charge of our fleet and coordinated maintenance support with the Brigade Motor Pools. I was quite familiar with the Army fleet, so the old trucks were definitely too old to be part of their modern fleet. It has been six years since I had been there, so I don't know if they still have all those old M-Series trucks.

Good to see not only a Business relationship develop but a friendship as well. Some of the best friendships I've had through the years started out due to business dealings . When it came to Heavy equipment : My Pop ( Grandfather) was a IH/ Dresser Man . Dad was Case & Cat . Their Buddies they subcontracted for & worked with was John Deere Men. Sad thing is we don't have a Dressta Dealer down In Memphis anymore. Or Case dealer anymore for that matter . My buddies that are still running both brands have to go to Arkansas, Mississippi or Missouri for parts now . Spent a lot of seat time on a T8C Wide Track IH, TD7G Wide track, & TD15C Wide Track with Winches on the back. Along with a D5B & D6D Cat & 450C, 550G & 850B JD. But one things for sure I'm nowhere as good a dozer operator as my Dad, Pop or Mr. Jerry . Mack

C&C crew are some good people. So nice to see. His story about his son working to pay back the decal equipment reminded me of when I wanted to start mowing lawns. My dad asked what I was going to use. My response was our mower. His response, you mean my mower, if you are going to be a business man, you need to learn nothing is free. He rented it to me. After about three months he asked where his payment was, I said I bought my own at the auction house. I think that Mike and Clint live in a wonderful place, hope to get back to the country for retirement. Miss the country people where I grew up. Thanks for sharing.

Did not realize that the Wildcat brand attachments were made in the USA, that's great to hear. Enjoyed the video and tour.

The 850J was adapted for the marine corps engineers, reason I say adapted because there is only one dozer purposely built for the US military. So when it comes to putting on a armor package to the piece of equipment the machine is adapted to carry it, in excess of 10,000lbs. Most cases the cooling systems are not upgraded from the original design, nor outfitted larger engines, such and such. On top of that these machines are placed in extreme weather conditions, such as Kuwait where the average summer temp is 115 degrees. The other adaptions made to these are a air transport package, the fuel systems are modified to run JP8, military jet fuel, and usually a rifle mount. I know with the Army we dont bring parts machines with us when we deploy. Clint is right, there isn't a John Deere dealer right down the road where we go. We have to get parts threw a supply request, or fabricate one, and when down range local cash purchase (whole different situation) is a option. Last deployment we have a 2 850J that were basically left there form a marine corps unit (must have fallen off the books because of MTOE change), but the engines were blown in both of them. We had to process them for DLA (Defense Logistics Agency is the same people that auction it off)so they could take a cutting torch to them cause the cost to ship them home to repair out weighed the cost of replacing it.
