Oh wow - this project has had so many twists and turns, and the undoing is always painful to see 😁 I'm glad you generally liked the end result, and the button bands! I really like the idea of the collar short rows, even the original vintage sweater has collar popping-up-issues (and idea to add to the pattern?)! Oh yes, the weaving in of the many, many ends 😫 I've been saving my bits to use as stuffing for my hexipuffs. The end result with the modified sleeve pleat gives a real bomber-jacket-look, like someone else says, what amazing work. Also love knitting for pets, and so great to see the stashbusting progress! ❤

If you're worried that it will stretch a bit much across the shoulders, just run a single row of crochet stitches from one shoulder point all the way across the back to the other. Just use single crochet into the shoulder seam. I rescued a slightly too big knit of mine that way. Really quick and effective.

Love your fringe. I’m a brand new knitter with chronic issues as well. When you were working out the sweater issues, I found myself getting overwhelmed with and for you. I could relate to your frustration. It was scary because you’re an experienced knitter. I’ve recently discovered that gauge swatches serve multiple functions, one of which is to reveal that a yarn I love to crochet😊 is awful to knit. I frogged it three times before resolving to crochet that particular yarn rather than try knitting it against its will! I tried using my Brittany needles (lovely smooth wood), my bamboo needles (too grabby on the halo of the yarn), and lastly metal needles. I constantly dropped stitches if I purled, and I really wanted to make a stockinette scarf. I watch your channel to gain inspiration and motivation on my dark days. I too do better if I’m making things for others. Currently I’m making 120 chenille frogs for Christmas shoeboxes for children in third world countries that may never get toys. I’m on number 91 and plan to get the last 29 done before Thanksgiving. I normally don’t like doing more than one of a kind, but I used to work in orphanages and children’s ministries and know that children with nothing adore soft toys they can hold and snuggle. You’re a real inspiration and I appreciate your finding ways to stay creative in spite of your limitations. It keeps me going. God bless.

If the shoulder width/drop is bothering you, consider adding a woven stay-tape on the inside of the shoulder seam from the collar to the sleeve that is closer to the measurement you want that to be, and easing the seam a bit as you stitch it in to 'shrink' it back and also stabilize it so the sleeves don't stretch it out further.

To maybe help explain the lyocell felting issue, it gennerally needa to be washed below 30°C, which is obscenely low, especially considering that most wool wash cycles hang around 40°C. So yes that weird semi-synthetic fiber is some how worse to wash then pure wool, my sympathies.
@RetroClaudeАй бұрын

Now I don't feel so bad about all the agonizing I did with my cardigan before moving on from step to step. Agonizing, it seems, is part of the process. 😆 It still didn't turn out how I wanted it to, and I'm still agonizing a bit more before moving on to the cuff and trim, but I've decided, "It's my first cardigan. Any mistakes or over/under-calculations I make will just be part of it's charm." Not quite finished, but I'm so stinkin' proud that I even made it this far. It's the best feeling when you learn that you can do something you never thought you could do. Your sweater is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
@madlunarАй бұрын
Claude I want to start by saying I love your hair!!! It's absolutely beautiful, you look stunning. Also, something has been bothering me for the last couple videos. In your most recent "reset" video, you had a count of 124 or so, which is the count you used from that video going forward. However, that count was before you donated a whole bunch of yarn and got all the way down to 100.25 50g balls! Doing the math, you should have ended the video after the reset with 119.75 and the last video at 112.5. That would put this video at 105.18 50g balls! You are absolutely so close to being under 100 by the end of the year, which is such a big milestone in this project! You've put in so much effort you deserve to be proud of how much further you are than you thought these past few months.

I had the exact same thing happen with my sleeves on the Mohn! I think I sewed them in like 2.5 times each and even now its more puffy than I would like for the style of the rest of the sweater. I eventually figured out that I must have not decreased at quite the rate I was supposed to, so somehow my piece was a bit long, which caused the puff. I still like my sweater, but it just wasn't what I was expecting from the pattern examples. I also had to back my buttons bands on the Mohn as well just to keep it stabilized and not look like my sweater is too small. I made a video on it for the next sweater I made lol. I think yours turned out really great - I actually really like your color combo :) Hopefully a little distance from staring at it so much will make you love it too.

I've been laughing at myself recently, because I remember hating them in the 80s and ripping them out of everything, but after watching so much costube and gaining an understanding of how padding was used to adjust women's silhouettes throughout history, and realizing that I kinda have slopey shoulders myself, I have a new appreciation for them. Actually got excited when I found an unopened pair at the thrift store last week, and I'm eager to figure out what to put them in.

I like the colours you chose for your Mohn cardi - they suit you very well. I have that pattern too but am now put off by All Those Ends that will need weaving in. Ugh!

Your new hair is INCREDIBLE to the point where I've had short hair for over a decade but I'm now thinking I might grow it out 👀

Left and right kills me, when wearing or when looking at it? Aaaaahhhh!!! 100% dogs are amazing. Getting my (rescue) dog changed my life. ❤ also, loving the blade runner vibes 😃
