I hate when people say that other people lives in tiny house because they don't have money to buy big house, the truth is living in tiny house is awesome! You can go travelling with your house and for some people like me I love having a small space that has everything in it!

Na'im A.Bakar Living in a tiny houses frees up a whole lot of time as well as cash, so one can travel more and pursue their passions. They give you the advantage of living small, while being able to live large.

Na'im A.Bakar personally, its a recent decision... I was going to go with a shipping Container house (40' containers) to have myself a cheap yet large home. but then i realized something.... I'm disabled, and i don't use much space... bedroom (sleep and change) kitchen (cook) and office which i also use to watch shows and such, so i decided in the end, I don't need big... and i couldn't take care of big (house work/cleaning) so small is where its at for me... I can built the structure for just shy of $5000 (not professionally!) my family is very crafty and quite the builders so...

For the life of me i cant understand why everyone is being so mean i think the colors she picked are lovely! the are bright and joyful which says a lot about the lady living in it if i had a house i would color my house pastel colors

I don’t wanna be a drag.. just a little advice, the owner of the small house should have been the one commenting more on their tiny house. And you being more of the interviewer, asking questions like; tell me more about this… Probably useless advice/opinion. I love love the tiny house and the information the video provided !

I second this. It also bothers me that whenever she asked questions where the owner started opening up and engaging, she would interrupt and take over. Why bother interviewing and asking questions if you're just going to decide the answers for her?

Why isnt anyone covering the lack of places to keep a tiny home? There are now laws being enacted in florida and texas that purposely prohibit tiny home dwellers by limiting what is considered a "home". Therefore forcing tiny home people who can live off the grid to be in an area that they MUST hook up water, sewer and electric. One has to choose between a trailer park, camping grounds or buying land. Where are the communities for these type of dwellings?

+rootbeerncy I have this dream of building a tiny house community. It would likely be more cookie cutter than most tiny housers would like, but it's my dream, and they don't have to live there, haha. But this saddens me to hear states are trying to stop tiny houses or at least limit them. I don't know how it hurts anybody to allow Tiny Houses. My only concern would be car congestion, which is already an issue with many condo communities, which are everywhere. Don't see why Tiny Houses would be picked on when they are more fun and eco friendly.

That is a very nice quality built tiny home. I suspect it cost much more than most people could afford though. The attention to detail and the quality of materials put into this home makes is so much more livable than many tiny homes you see. She really had great sense to get the extras that most people do not consider things like the washer/dryer, A/C, Solar, Hickory flooring, large marble counter tops, large sink and a toilet that is not a bucket and sawdust......these things make the tiny home a real home and so much more livable and enjoyable. I also like that sliding door it really can open up the place and allow you plenty of options from a deck to a well designed out door patio living space that is an extension of the home. The spot for the propane takes was nice too.

A nice house for sure! Just a uhm, bit of information for anyone building one... Take the width of the sliding door together, and the width of a pocket door. Its basically a wall and a door. Its just, with the pocket door you just slice the wall in half and put it on the other side of the door. This is good for one reason i can think of (xD); One you can actually use the wall on the other side of the pocket door where as with the sliding door you have to keep it clear to open the door. It is an amazing house! I just thought i would share that tidbit of information... :)

I love pocket doors and have done since I first learned about them as a young teen (back when it was my dream to be an architect). I've never lived in a place with any pocket doors, though. We're planning to remodel our master suite in the next few years and we plan to use a pocket door to our en suite bathroom just because we want a pocket door! If I were building a house from scratch, I'd make just about every interior door a pocket door.

Purple is my fave colour and my family used to have a cottage in upstate NY, where wooden victorian houses are predominant, so I'm partial to the design of this one. One of the main points of having a tiny house, is the ability to customize it to one's preferences, so bravo for doing just that. Its a charmer for sure! Nice to see a washer/dryer as not too many include one. Now, I just need to figure out how to maximize storage & create a workable crafting area for when I build mine.

Jenna, I saw you on TV yesterday showing this tiny home on the "Fixer Upper" channel that my mom always watches. I had seen this on youtube so I knew which home she was going to choose. It was so nice to see more background on the person choosing her tiny home and seeing her boyfriend. I was so excited. Then it showed you and your husband building your home!! I hope to purchase or build my own some day. Many of the tiny homes that I have seen on youtube are now on TV!!! I hope the builders don't raise their prices. I want one of these to simplify my life. My condo cost me $46,000.00 and is 1100 square feet. So many of the ones that I like are less then my condo. I hope they stay that way. The demand is growing!!!

@rcmodelr

Nicki Davis All the more reason to mount it closer to the ceiling so it would draw in the warmer air from the ceiling, cool it, and blow the cooled air to the rest of the living space. I'd only want it mounted close to the floor if it was to be used almost exclusively for heating since close to the floor it would be taking in the cooler air and maybe blowing the heated air toward the floor, but since warm air rises, it would still heat even the loft area. Then again AC means "Air Conditioner" which would technically include BOTH heating AND cooling since BOTH are ways of "conditioning the air." Why do so many call something that heats the air a "heater" but something that cools the air an "air conditioner" even though by either heating OR cooling the home living area, you are actually "conditioning the air" to match close to how you want it to feel whether it's mid Summer with 100+ outside temps or mid Winter with < -30 outside temps??? So actually a Heater or an "air conditioner" would technically and by the way they work qualify as being an "air conditioner."

rcmodelr probably due to the fact the boxes say "Air conditioner unit" and they don't heat anything...

this house is so gorgeous with its impetuous high spirited paintwork. it brings delight to the eye. I felt a tiny bit robbed that the interior was so grown up, I'd love to see overstuffed chairs covered in paisley and a large rainbow lorikeet in there somewhere. :) Just beautiful.

As someone who lived with an incinerating toilet for more than 5 years.... Ugh. I would love to know her current thoughts on it. It's all fun and games until the heating coupler goes out... And it will and than your life is hell. Not to mention the joy that is the aroma of burning poo. And if your a "yellow let it mellow" person that doesn't fly either. I am getting post traumatic stress just thinking about it. Soooooo many issues. Beside that I love her house! It's adorable.

Forgot to mention another couple of the other highlights. Each "Flush" takes roughly 20 mins or so to burn. You can't so much as open the lid let alone go until the burn cycle is compleat. And you have to empty the ashpan where the remains of the poo, the liners and your own paper have gone to die. Forget to do that it builds up and burns the coupler out- then no potty until the part comes in and you figure out how to change it. I could go on lol

Such a beautifully crafted and super functional tiny home! You have your whimsical colors and Victorian style on the outside and gorgeous wood craftsman style interior, best of both worlds. I love that you have so many amenities such as solar, full sink, air conditioner, washer/dryer, lots of counter space too. I love to cook, so I notice when tiny homes look like a person will actually cook in their kitchen; thus, a long counter and full sink you can actually put big pots and pans in are big pluses in a tiny home with a cook! Jenna, you are such a smart cookie and a detail oriented person, I like the extra things you point out in your videos. I do have one question, are the floors insulated? I was wondering that when you showed us your floor cubbies, I live in MN, and an insulated floor is a must if I were to build a tiny home. Thank you for sharing your tiny home with us Nicki!

Jim Wilkins Thank you, are you the builder Jim?! Hold on... I just clicked on the link above and I'm taking a thorough tour of your website. I'm very impressed, and am surprised to find out that your company is just 20 minutes south of where I live! And it's a curious thing in the universe when in my mind I'm wondering why so many tiny home builders use (heavy, albeit traditional) wood stud framing, and was pondering the merits of metal framing, wondering about it's load bearing capacity, structural integrity, and other properties; and then "bamm!", the teacher appears, and you are doing that very thing! And you also offer slideouts, remarkable! It's very true that when the student is ready, the teacher appears. I love your ability to seek out new or better methods and materials. Never stop learning, I love that! Keep up the good work! :)

Nicki I have been researching for quite some time what I want in my tiny home and they are many of the features you have in your home. I also definitely want an incinerator toilet. Composting is just a bit to primitive for me. I also am going with solar and propane. I might consider propane for my refrigerator, I already have the combo washer/dryer and love it. I am a baker so i will need the kitchen to function like a traditional one would. For my staircase I am going to have them boxed in for storage. When you bake like I do you need lots of space for specialty cake pans etc. So happy for you. Now back to my drawing board and Google searches.

Hmmm, you might regret your incinerating toilet decision. Nicki hates hers and I haven't heard a first hand good review yet. Just bad reviews so far... Research composting. We use the Nature's Head and it's awesome! Also, if you go solar, you won't be able to power the incinerator, it takes too much energy. Same with an over and washer/dryer combo. Other than that sounds good! :)

It has only been in the past few months I found out that it has become well known that the entire "House Hunters" series of shows is...well BS. All of the people looking for a house, chose or bought the house before they filmed the show. A lot of the houses not chosen are not even up for sale or are Airbnb or rental properties.

Lilahn it may appear so due to the attractive roof design and windows in the loft area. The footprint, however, is a stock 192 sq ft (8 x 24), and the loft (the only one) is a little "larger because the owner opted for a little less height on the main floor under the loft. It's a tradeoff most folks can make.
