The one time Daniel Ricciardo has a good race... trust Lance Stroll to do what Lance Stroll does best... Anyway a lot went on in the CHinese Grand Prix weekend. From spontaneously combusting grass, to wild Sprint Qualifying results! Here are my thoughts and reactions for the entire weekend...

And Ricciardo has received a 3-place grid drop for Miami because he passed Hulk under the Tsunoda SC to get the spot back Hulk took from him thanks to Stroll, and apparently the Stewards said it was fine for Hulk to do that - Article 55.8 for those who want to go read the exceptions that article lists 🙃

Honestly, as frustrating as it sounds, this one is on Ricciardo and the team, and first and foremost on Stroll. Hulk obviously did nothing wrong, he is absolutely covered by 55.8(h). Ricciardo is not. He simply re-overtook Hulk under the safety car without clearing it with race-control or being told to do so. Obviously that seems fair enough to you and me, but it is a violation of the regulations. Losing the position to Hulk is simply another consequence of Stroll being in F1. Now I imagine Vcarb will protest, so it remains to be seen wether there are any exceptions to be made. Lets hope so. I just think we should protest, when the stewards don't enforce the rules, not when they do, because any genuinly fair system can only exist when it means enforcing the rules for everybody.

@@parrotantics2046 I think you're confusing the penalties for Ricciardo and Stroll? Stroll got a 10 second penalty during the race and 3 points on his superlicence, Ricciardo got a 3-place-grid penalty for Miami, since he retired the car and couldn't be penalised during the race.

Imola, Canada (I count Montreal as a proper circuit), Barcelona, Red Bull Ring, Silverstone, Hungaoring, Spa, Zandvoort, Monza, COTA, Interlagos. Even Abu Dhabi with the reprofiled corners is OK. So I think I’ve cracked a way sprint races could spice up the format: Award points for the top 10 Use each drivers fastest lap to set the grid for the actual race (drivers must finish the sprint to have the lap count) This gives teams lower down the grid a way to give themselves a shot for the main event and forces the top teams to make a strategy call to maximise points from the sprint but also set themselves up well for the main race

At the point of the SC ALO did 12 laps on hard, but Aston (and few others) didnt have a 2nd set of Hards to put on, so after SC restart they knew they needed to pit at some point anyway, going for the softs for the restart and mediums after is the best they could do, if there wasnt 2nd SC, the hards would have degraded more and probably gave him a shot at RUS/SAI
