How about we stop sexualizing women's bodies especially childrens!? and people who don't get chastised?! Or worse
@nomoretwitterhandles
@nomoretwitterhandles Жыл бұрын
@@16driver16 First of all, a woman gets to decide whether or not she wants to be sexualized. That is not up to you OR society. If a woman wants to wear a tiny bikini, she is more than allowed to do so, as she deserves her bodily autonomy. While I don't think younger girls (such as teens or pre-teens) should be sexualized (because no shit), they do still deserve to dress in a way that makes them feel beautiful. Being young and going through puberty, all while feeling ugly and undesirable, is a huge issue that complicates their self-image and self-esteem. It's something I related to a LOT growing up. Instead of saying "let's not sexualize women/women's bodies", how about we say "let's make more inclusive outfits and swimwear for women who want to dress comfortably"? You know, focusing on fixing the problem by offering a solution? I'm sexy and I deserve to be sexy and I want to be seen as sexy by other people. If another woman doesn't wanna be seen the same way, she has every right! She can dress how she wants and I'll dress the way I want! But don't be pushing that shit on me!

(this is an opinion of a queer, autistic, woman of color. Don't interact if you think being queer is a slur and that autism only manifests with a diagnosis. Your opinion is boring.) So many people never took a child psychology or educational psychology class and claim to understand kids... Kids LITERALLY develop their personalities between the ages of 5 to 9 (that's when you start to notice personality disorders as well. The earliest detection of social issues with autism starts at 3 to 4 with interactions with others but only really 5 to 6 when "shyness" becomes an issue. Some psychologists can claim earlier detection but I don't believe in not listening to how a child expresses themselves verbally and with learned body language, which is 5 to 8)... That's elementary school, kids will learn and start exploring their gender and relationships with others. It's when kids realize other kids are kids too and have families and wants and desires. They might not know the WORDS but they're starting to form memories long-term and that impacts development. Most kids will have crushes by 10 years old. Again, they might not know the WORDS for their feelings, which is fine since most grown men can't express their feelings, but they're there. The chemical responses are there. The neural pathways are forming. And any trauma to those starts then. I knew I was different than my peers by 5. I knew I liked other girls at 6. I knew that I didn't want to kiss anyone by 9. I had the words for my feelings by 12 (queer, gay, asexual, possibly narcissistic) and by 16 I was confident in my identity (queer, gay, asexual, possibly autistic) and I was firmly in my identity by 23 (genderqueer, gay, asexual, definitely autistic). And all of that discovery came in Kansas and Iowa. I was bullied for being brown and weird, I saw confederate flags flown in my city, I had to listen to bullshit revisionist history in my white-majority school, and our school was protested by the westboro baptist church multiple times for having trans kids... it's exhausting. I was yelled at, at my own graduation, for WEARING PANTS. Not even like jeans or something, slacks. I dared be AFAB and wear pants in 2014. Republicans and conservatives are the biggest babies. They'll protest people of color, queers, women, trans folks, foreigners, science, etc and then claim they're just following common sense when most of them never took an advanced psychology course or advanced biology course. A bunch of C grade anti-intellectuals too afraid of their own thoughts and desires to self reflect.

Glad to hear you've gotten diagnosed with autism with that "definitely". Because it wouldn't be "definite" without one. (Seriously though, it's harmful to you and others when you self-diagnose, so unless you're clear about a diagnosis, just say you're symptomatic of autism or that you think you may be on the spectrum. It hurts the chances of other people getting diagnosed because of the current self-diagnosis trend going on rn, as the first thing professionals are doing now is checking curious patients for internet addiction.) Also please don't call us "q*eers". That is a slur and it ain't a cute one. Identify as you want, but don't go around calling a community by its slur, especially because identifying as a slur is a PERSONAL CHOICE, and most of us do not like slurs. If you're too lazy to say "LGBT+", you need to sort out your priorities. Anyway, not tryna diss or anything. Everyone could stand to learn more. For example, your first part about child development is something I wish more people understood. Children aren't stupid, they're just inexperienced. Kids are actually quite smart, and society often takes their intelligence for granted. Child development is something I took very seriously during school, and it's something more people should be required to take--ESPECIALLY if they want to have children. All too often I see children with their noses glued to their tablets and phones, scrolling and scrolling and scrolling through social media for HOURS on end... The impact social media is having on child development is quite scary. It's stunting a lot of their emotional growth (over-exposure to bad subjects such as gore and p*rn, bad opinions, hatred, negativity, dangerous acts, etc.), and not a lot of people are taking internet addiction (mostly social media addiction) seriously. Years ago, I dropped all social media platforms and... I got better. Like, I didn't feel remotely as depressed, and I wasn't angry all the time because of how awful people were being on the internet. I gained my faith in humanity again. It felt great. So I can only imagine how awful these kids are feeling all the time, being exposed to the shit on Twitter and Instagram that's only one tap away. Kids are getting addicted to p*rn at a really young age now, it's sickening. Adults need to grow the hell up and learn a thing or two about the importance of development in young children. Being gay or trans isn't the problem; it's the lack of education that's screwing us all over.

@@nomoretwitterhandles 1. I wasn't diagnosed autistic at 23 but at 26. Self diagnosis is a real and valid tool. Because my diagnosis was 120 dollars for the preliminary report and 2500 for the full one. This "trend" does fucking nothing. What resources am I stealing or taking by saying I'm autistic? Accomodations? Those aren't finite resources and also don't exist beyond self bought ones. Money? No. Fuck off with your nonsense. 👍🏽 2. I'm queer. I'll say queer and queer community. Three of 5 queer organizations I've been apart of called themselves queer or LGBTQ. Both. Queer is valid. Don't use it if you don't like it. Just like I don't like d*ke or f*g but people still use them. That's their choice. And it's not lazy or a lack of priorities. I've been queer since middle school. Queers have existed for decades openly. People call me fat but fat isn't a slur because there's nothing wrong with queer or fat. 3. "Phones bad" is a boomer ideal. Maybe actually monitor your kids instead of blaming their overconsumption of social media. I was angry and depressed as a kid before smart phones were invented. I was also anxious and autistic without a diagnosis. 🤷🏽‍♀️ You come off as condescending and rude. Maybe take some classes about tone of voice. This isn't a class so your edits were unwelcome and not needed.

My biggest issue with Target pulling 90% of the pride collection is how everyone is covering for them with the argument of “well their locations and staff were being threatened with violence!!” And yeah. That would be a pretty good argument. Only the answer to domestic terrorist threats is NEVER to roll over and give in to demands??? Hire more security. Give your staff benefits or better protection or let them stay home. It’s not even asking the bare minimum anymore, the bar has been under 6 feet of cement for decades. Why do we have to walk perpetually on eggshells our entire lives because a bunch of adult children never grasped the “everybody’s different” lesson.

When I was a kid, I liked hanging out with girls and boys. I would think to myself, "well, boys are stupid but they're funny, and girls are really pretty and also funny". Some years later, Lady Gaga was very public about her being bisexual, and I LOVED Lady Gaga. So I thought, "if Lady Gaga can be bisexual, maybe other people are too..." I asked my mom what "bisexuality" meant. And, though she's changed over the years for the better, at the time she told me "it's a phase, honey, you have to pick one or the other eventually, it just doesn't work out that way". She is my mom, so I thought, "well, maybe she's right... but it doesn't feel right, does it?" During high school, I realized I liked women as much as I liked men. When I was 21, I came out to my family--not that I was scared to, my family is actually really open-minded, bless them; I just didn't think it was necessary lol--and they have all since been very supportive. For some people, it's a rainbow t-shirt or a binder swimsuit. For me, it was Lady Gaga coming out as bisexual. Sometimes, we just need someone to take that stand for us. Sometimes, that "someone" can be our neighbor putting on a gay little hat from Target!

Don't be a dillhole. Conservatives are a big issue, because they are extremists. Not every Republican is an extremist, and not every Republican likes where the party is currently at rn. I'm a bit bipartisan, leaning left, but the Republican party (minus all the bs laws and bigotry) has a few solid goals for their platform, mostly in relation to government size/intervention and businesses. Both parties are EXTREMELY corrupt (not for the average person, just the parties and party leaders themselves). Like, let's be real, both parties have had their fair share of dogshit laws and interventions, and even though the "Republican" party has made arguably MORE bad laws and interventions, that doesn't mean they're the only ones at fault. It's really easy to pretend like you're morally superior for siding with a certain political party, but like... is that how we get shit done? Is this how we change people's minds? Or is that just us tryna close our ears and eyes because we're too scared to admit to our own faults? I will always vote Democratic because of the political climate we're under right now, but that doesn't mean I think every Democrat is a goddamn saint filled with nothing but love for my queer ass. Both parties only care about one thing: Money. And that ain't the kind of politics I wanna subscribe to...

I did grow up in a very very LDS community and i had a lot of friends who came out as LGBTQ+ befofe i did. And a lot of my family wanted to blame "peer pressure" but in reality i was just so scared to even confront the possibility0 that i wasnt straight that I just straight up didnt until i found a community that made me feel like it was okay for me to explore that and figure myself out. I wish more people understood that.

Ehh idk if I'd put it that way, some kids probably don't wanna tuck. Like I wouldn't ask my kid to tuck so they can "cover up more" (obv either is fine, ur body ur choice) I think the pdf-file part is thinking about what kids are doing with their freaking genitals lmao like... It's bothering me that he thinks that hard about that. Never had a situation as an adult where I've examined children's clothing like this

OMG THANK YOU FOR BRINGING UP ELVIS. I accidentally ended up in a whole fuckin thing in the comments of an elvis short. Somone commented that they thought it was wild he met his wife when she was 14 and in Germany and all I replied like "wow never knew that that's gross" and I had so many notifications of people saying me I'm wrong for judging the past with today's eyes and 'soiling his name'. "It was a different time" and all that. It made me so shocked that it made me look into Priscilla Presley cause I didn't know shit about her. I kept replying for a while explaining all that nasty deets I found with the biggest being that he was her LEGAL GAURDIAN at 17!!!! But they didn't do anything until after they were married (from what I remember reading)?? Yeah big ass groomer sign on that man. TLDR; Due to someone spilling tea in a short I got bullied in the comments for replying and now I've grown hate for Elvis

hi target employee here :) yes they pulled certain products and moved the pride section. on the corporate level i disagree with them pulling the products and moving them. this wasn’t everywhere only in conservative areas, including my store, but i honestly was okay with it. we as employees were being harassed by customers especially the more visibly queer employees like myself, a lot of people who work at my target are visibly queer, so although it sucks it was taken down and it’s discouraging that people will choose to hate instead of understand it actually made me feel safer going to work and the fact that my managers did not put up with any of their bullshit. pride month is over so it doesn’t matter as much anymore but i just wanted to leave my two cents here and also shout out all target team members and managers that handled a shitty situation with love and kindness towards the people who were harmed by this false rhetoric
