@@Lyddy-Draws I know, right? He was never pushy or forced people to believe. As far as I know, one doesn't have to go to church to be a believer according to the Bible (there are other ways to worship and one can't deny that there are many churches are pretty corrupted.) I wouldn't be surprised if Jesus hears the 'good' twin yelling this, would just go, "Dude, lay off your brother, will ya?"

@@LJCG777 ?? I thought I was saying that you don't need to go to church to be close to God? And if there's anything I can't stand more is people using their religion to prove how 'good and much better' they are than other people. If there's anything I learned from in and out of church is that people are jerks. No matter where you are sometimes...
@Lyddy-Draws11 ай бұрын
@@KirbyIsCute legit though. Pretty sure Jesus would not approve of a lot of Christian churches right now
@KirbyIsCute11 ай бұрын
@@Lyddy-Draws It's true that there are quite a few churches out there that are good and try to help people. But often times these days I hear so much corruption going on and the people attending don't seem to see it. Like the pastor who advised people who trusted him to go into crypto and stole a lot of money - just for these same people to forgive and trust him because he said it's God's doing. Or the pastor who molested an underaged girl - said girl confronts him in church but he says God forgives him and quite a few church goers forgive and seem to side with him - one even hugging him. The corruption disgusts me, and a lot of churchgoers seem to believe just as long as they go to church then they are in God's grace no matter how horrible some of the pastors are. They just need to say, "God forgives me so why can't you?"

What about a guy who goes crazy trying to figure out if Christianity is real because he gets a dream about god telling him smth and he goes crazy trying to believe in him and stuff. like he kills people etc etc… then he dies from insanity!! CREDIT ME PLEASE!!!!!! (Also I’m a Christian sooo… hi)

@Tired-hm4tw lmao that's definitely a child so idk why you expect them to be realistic when it comes to making up a movie plot. Also lots of people have done insane shit in the name of religion so it wouldn't surprise me at all if someone in real life had a mental episode and started killing others because "god talked to me in a dream" lmfao.😂😂

AYO I WORKED ON THIS MOVIE I never thought anyone would see it and production was as much of a shitshow as you would think. Some fun facts for interested parties: Scott would make us watch him do magic tricks at lunch. Roddy Piper was super nice and drank a shitload of diet coke. Half the crew had a background in Christian films, the other half had a background in either horror or porn. Made for an interesting dynamic 😂😂 Also I'm the dude in the background of the soup kitchen scene and the missing dude in the black shirt lol

Sad thing is, this concept would work really well as a comedy. Like a company that someone can call to make bizarre bonding scenarios for two people who are fighting, actually sounds hilarious. It'd even be funnier if they woke up thinking it's a saw scenario and they keep escalating or extrapolating what horrifying things they'll have to do from the person in charge's very clear and simple instructions. "Take the candy on the counter and-" "Oh why, cause there's poison in them and you're going to ask me to choose between him and an innocent baby? Is that why!? You're going to make me give poison candy to a baby!?" "What? No! It's supposed to be a lesson in sharing. What the hell is wrong with you people!?"

Reconciliation? That would require complex interactions where there isn't a clear good guy or bad guy! Way too postmodern for a Christian movie.

I think that's incredibly telling about the specific beliefs of the film-makers
@shreknskrubgaming72486 ай бұрын
Which makes me wonder what the angel reporter would have done if the other twin just never gave in. When the week was over and they were out of food, was he gonna let the other twin, a devout Christian, starve to death for no reason? That would be a bit of a dick move, right? And we can't have an angel being a dick in a Christian movie, right? So, he probably lets both of them go, which means what the fuck is the point of any of it? Christian propaganda is some of the most absurd shit there is, and I'm so sick and tired of them acting like they're oppressed; Christianity is one of the biggest religions in the world, probably the biggest in America, where most of it comes from (at least second, maybe behind Judaism,) you're not under attack. Oh no, gay people can get married, it's basically the Holocaust but against Christians!

I grew up in a Christian household, had to recover from a lot of religious trauma, and while I am gonna slap an obvious "not all Christians, etc" on here, I think it's really interesting how the Reconciler appeals to a very specific attitude I see in some Christians, including my family. Basically you hit the nail on the head when you pointed out that most of the people in these situations didn't actually reconcile, they just... stopped fighting. And that's because to some Christians that IS what they think reconciling look like. In their eyes, anything that generates Conflict is Bad, and anything that stops the conflict is Good. It doesn't matter _why_ you choose to vocally disagree, or got into a fight with someone, the person who brought attention to the issue and rocked the boat is the one who needs to apologize.
@domeatown Жыл бұрын
oh, gosh. yeah. that's the nail on the head right there. complexity and disagreement and open discourse aren't all just stepping stones on the road to genuine emotional intimacy, friendship, reciprocity, or authenticity. that's mainly because authenticity isn't real or allowed. especially if you are female. you are an npc with tits. and then by the time you are an adult even your friendships with other women won't be real because you'll be so fully indoctrinated that you are closed off from what you value and can only connect on a superficial level that usually involves clothes and kids but you'll take it because that's the closest you'll feel to anyone.because there's an implicit shared pain that no one can quantify or acknowledge because no one has the vocabulary but it hovers in the air as women who are sharing space try to connect while also trying relentlessly to become more and more and more and more of a ghost in their own life it's true outside of religion, but in those spaces it hovers like a mirage over every surface, like the shiny glint off the exterior of a memory or a partially remembered dream. like holding pinkies but you want to hold hands but you'll do whatever you can today to savor the crumbs of your own love as it hovers in the air, just out of your reach and that's why you don't rock the boat. because you'll lose all the droplets of your potable water, which are mainly just the tears that you didn't allow yourself to cry

I had similar experiences to the ones you're describing, only adding abusive into the mix, and my gods that couldn't be said better. @tiacat11 Жыл бұрын
@@annyviana21 Yeah, it's really heartbreaking, especially when the reason you're breaking the wall is because you _love_ your family and you desperately want things to be better. I GOT KICKED OFF THE SET IN THIS MOVIE!!! I was an extra in the office scene, and I was supposed to walk over to a "coworker" and casually hand off some papers and lightly chat. After around take 5, I decided to say something goofy with each take and make her laugh. They didn't like that and I got kicked off the set, even though I was supposed to be in a few more scenes. I swear we spent the whole day shooting that scene. It was so incredibly mismanaged

@ghandinotsenpai9135 Жыл бұрын
this made me curious if there were other people named Jesus before Jesus was born, so I looked it up and turns out there were multiple people in the bible with the name Jesus, and the name was common before too. imagine if the phrase is actually about some other dude named Jesus and we're giving credit to the wrong guy?

it does go with the established theme. 😂 all the major christian holidays just happen to be on the same day and have similar names to older roman and pagan holidays that were around for much longer than christianity.

@zakosist Жыл бұрын
Right. And the fact they're ripping of an extremely violent movie but cant commit to any of it. I dont think a movie absolutely needs violence to be good, but then you need a storytelling that fits a non-violent movie. And it still needs some form of dramatic element.

@Codex Saw 1-3 is great, almost entirely due to the interesting character dynamics and motivations of John Kramer. After that, they sideline Kramer (for obvious plot reasons associated with SAW 3) and the series takes a NOTABLE dip (but anytime Kramer appears he steals the show) in the character and writing department. So I'd honestly just stick to 1-3. Though if you do like police drama, the later installments do have some nice segments and the rebooted Saw movie Spiral is quite enjoyable in that department.

I’m dying at the fact the brother is mad at the other one for not going to church for 2 years. I learned in Catholic school that church is not just a physical thing, or a service specifically. It’s a community. You don’t need to physically attend church to be a good Christian.

I had a friend who said he liked to pray in the forest, where he felt closest to god. The priest that taught us at school said he needs to go to church anyway or it doesn't count, because "that's what churches were built for". What he actually meant you need to come so he makes more money

4:38 “I was talking with my dad over the holiday, you know like, said you know my dad says god is not dead. We act like he is…” Next part is definitely gibberish but it may be: “good and evil… hey, look at me” or a stroke. Both are equally plausible at this point.
