I bought the Land Cruiser model and somewhat enjoyed it, but in the end I returned it. Total lack of bolt on aftermarket support at this time. FMS does amazing scale body work, but I would leave it at that. What really did me in was the lights stopped working on mine. When I contacted support, they were no help at all. Thankful for Amazon allowing me to return it after about 60 days.

You're right about the grotesquely high prices of static models, and these FMS vehicles, as well as having RC play value, make perfectly satisfying alternatives. In fact, this looks so realistic that, when I saw the giant oil drum lying on its side @ 7:06 I experienced a moment of genuine astonishment till my brain recalibrated my idea of the size of the truck I was watching.

These things are awesome... I wish there were 1/10 and 1/6 scale versions with actual hard bodies instead of lexan. Just as detailed. That would be pretty awesome. Lol. It just sucks that the RC world is SO expensive when in reality, the things they're comprised of really aren't all that expensive to produce.
@faiqcreates2 жыл бұрын
What hurts the most is people justifying that expensive thing. Like a set of 3 bolts for "rc" are as costly as an entire packet of those same size bolts which contain probably 80 90. Also its all plastic, maybe a little metal here or there but plastic. People are making tons of money in the rc world
@DutchRC2 жыл бұрын
you do know RC4WD has a 1/10th version of the hilux with hard body?
@jonjacob19622 жыл бұрын
@@faiqcreates I absolutely agree. I'm also into the fish hobby and it's the same there. A bag of Pete gravel specifically for aquariums is like double if not triple the cost of the exact same gravel labeled for landscaping/decoration. The only real difference being the way it's washed. Yet even then it's still gotta be rinsed good to use in an aquarium because the packaging process makes so much dust. It's crazy how overpriced things can be just because of the specific use case it's labeled for even if it's the same exact product under that label... The RC hobby especially is SO overpriced tho... I wanted to get into it for YEARS. I just couldn't see spending more than a couple hundred bucks on an RC car. Even used RC cars are pretty outrageous. At least in my area... I did eventually get myself a Redcat Gen 8 v2 tho for a pretty good price during this past black Friday sales...
@jonjacob19622 жыл бұрын
@@DutchRC yes. And they are beautiful. But again. They're just stupidly overpriced... Not to mention, they're more trail runners than crawlers... The leaf spring set up, although extremely scale looking, doesn't allow for enough suspension travel to do the type of crawling I do with my RC. I could theoretically buy just a body and figure out a way to mount it to my Gen 8 but idk if it would look right. I feel like the Gen 8 is a bit too big. Those RC4WD trucks are quite small for being 10th scale... I just feel like the scale would be way too off...
@DutchRC2 жыл бұрын
@@jonjacob1962 agreed! the RC4WD's are indeed more scalers then crawlers.. well I guess they aren't crawlers at all :) I have had a couple and loved them, but you kinda always have to excuse yourself "it's not a crawler.. it won't perform' :P (I now have a SCX10 cause that does perform)

Would you happen to know of any after market smart chargers that are compatible with these tiny batteries? Not too fond of using the included USB charger. Also do you know of any adapters for the battery and ESC power wires? It’s an absolute pain to unplug the battery from the car and I can only imagine it’s only a matter of time before I pull a wire because of how tight the plugs are. Not to mention the wear and tear from unplugging and plugging in. I’m trying to find a female JST adaptor for the battery side but I cannot find anything.

So many KZbinrs out there refer scale to a wheelbase or size. Its refreshing when someone just compares it to a 1/1 properly. 👍 That rig is so nice, but to find out what vehicle is closer to 1/18 you’re gonna need to know the length of the two 1/1’s? Pretty sure the Chevy is a half ton and the hylux is a quarter ton? So the Chevy should be a bit bigger? They both look amazing regardless! Thanks for sharing Phil! 👍👌
@TomleyRC2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it’s more than just the wheelbase, but I also think a lot of manufacturers also use just the wheelbase. I also get a lot of comments on the smaller 1/6 scale stuff, saying ‘it’s to small for 1/6’….because it’s not the size of an Xmaxx or similar 😅
