wow, I don't know what R/C kits look like these days, but compared to the Lunch Box I got in the 80's, this Traxxas is amazing. Ball bearings, metal parts, metal chasis, great steering links. The 80's kits were a big box of brittle plastic sadness the day after Christmas when half the car was cracked and broken.

Would have been better if it had a "Hard Body",although that's probably something Traxxas will never do.I do however like how Traxxas engineered the motor and transfer case to sit lower in the frame to give more clearance for a Hard body with a full interior.

Really a nice car. Traxxas did a really good job with it and then take off the 90% of the fun doing it a RTR instead a Kit. I wish to buy it but it will be only when it comes as a kit to be assembled. Traxxas need to learn when it is about scale trucks the client is more specific and the assembly is a big part of the pleasure of this.

I don't know. $500 seems like a lot. Well, an awful lot. I've had my Stampede since it came out and I've never had an issue with it Cipher braking turnbuckles it's still going strong. And I dont RC enough to Warrant spending $500 I just take my Stampede out occasionally and have a blast!

Personally i think traxxas might be the best for the prices because i have a traxxas 4x4 vxl brushless rustler that tops out at 70 mph and i can see that it’s pretty good for racing the body is tough and strong the wheels are great for racing so if you read this comment don’t get a super cheap fast car because not all body’s of cars are strong so get a traxxas because you can repair it and it can have different Color body’s more battery selection you also can raise the suspension and the vehicle i have cost around 250$ to 400$ but its worth it!

Forgot to mention I got the 1st TRX4 sold at my hobby shop and I love it!!! My wife has an Axial Wraith and I built a crawler course out back. We have a blast. When the kids want to drive it I don't worry because its built extremely sturdy. I have several Traxxaa RCs, but this is becoming my favorite

just get to the slash`s esc and put it on training mode for 50% speed because the trx4 is PRICEY VERY pricey but yes it runs on grass really well because it a trail truck making powerful but slow

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the xl-5 esc could handle up to like 9.5 volts . So how can you run a 3s lipo?

It's a different xl5 then say a Slash or ruslter I have both systems and the Trx4 xl5 has a heatsink on it that the other doesn't and it says 3s right on it and I run mine on the big 3s batteries all day with no problems

I was pricing the Traxxas 4x4 defender. Currently it's about $449, ok, make it an even $500. You don't get a battery or charger so that adds another $100. I guess it's like buy a full scale truck and the battery and engine are extra.
