This was Aug 2015 just over 4 years after the event, but she always immerses herself in the music feeling the same feelings again, specially here early in her career. On the 4th commemoration day in 2015, she wrote on fb: "Today is the day. 22nd of July. It's been 4 years since you left us. Since all of you left us. How time flies, we even find ourselves forgetting for a moment, nearly moving on. Not because we forget you, but because we remember to live. But know that I will always remember you, and everyone that went down with you. I will think of love, and send love to those who needs it today. I hope no one is crying alone. Rest in peace my friend. You are free now." I think that sentence about remembering to live it really profound. In a June 2019 article she mentioned the incident again: "Aurora: And then I had someone I was very close to, who died on Utøya. A boy I was in love with. He was wonderful. - Were you his girlfriend? Aurora: We were probably that, even though I was very young then. I was 15 when he passed away. He was 17."

I cannot get through this song without constant weeping and grief......as an ex cop, I can't imagine showing up on that scene and seeing 69 bodies (he killed 77 but the others were bombed in Oslo), mostly children, slaughtered. I think it will be generations before the heart beat of that country resembles anything close to "normalcy". This song in all of its innocence is the most poignant, innocent, beautiful tribute to an horrific, truly evil moment that literally takes my breath away. What a depraved soul who could do such a thing.....and he injured, many seriously, over 200 more. Aurora offers understanding and empathy here and a place for all those hurting to sit and grieve and yet hope. She is a gifted, talented, empathetic, and hopeful woman who gives all that back to the world in her music and her vulnerability. I am so grateful to have been introduced to her and to experience her in my life. She not only makes me a better person, she makes me want to be a better person despite all my many failings.

Wonderful reaction! It is truly a sad story, and this performance in this setting captures the emotions of the song perfectly. Aurora is known for her emotional storytelling, even when it's not about tragic real-life events. Most of her songs aren't so personal, as she writes most of her songs out of empathy for others. However, on her new album, she had to record the last track ("Invisible Wounds"), a very personal song, several times, because she kept crying. And even on the best take, that they ended up using, you can hear her voice crack. And in live performances since then, she still has trouble getting through it without crying. I think a great follow-up to this one would be "Through the Eyes of a Child" live at Nidarosdomen. The themes are very much related to what you talked about in this video. About how things change you as you get older, and not necessarily for the better. It's a very important song for Aurora. She said that she was going through a period of time where she was only seeing the bad in the world, and she wrote that song to get it out of her system.

Very perspective. Arora is different, all her songs are different and she constantly remakes them. She sings in the moment, so live is best. She sees the world in a different way and that reflects in her lyrics. Try "Murder Song 5,4,3,2,1", her reflections on a mercy killing. "Lucky" (at Nidarosdomen is best), her childhood song on contemplating suicide, "Through the eyes of a child" (again Nidarosdomen) or a recent one "soul with no king" the Vevo interpretation is powerful.

Great reaction, its a terribly sad song. This one, along with many others, gets me every time. Aurora has a way of expressing all those feelings we shove down as humans trying to be strong for others we care about or to protect ourselves. Her music is soul healing, and she just has a way of striking deep in the heart in the best way. I'd be very interested if you could do Invisible Wounds next. Its off her most recent album and she has said its one of the most personal songs she's ever written (most of her songs are not about herself, but the global human experience). Invisible Wounds also deals with healing, but also accepting that you can't fix everything no matter how hard you try. It's truly a beautiful song and Aurora is a beautiful artist!

Another one to analyze would be I Went Too Far (live at the Honda Stage). About compromising yourself to fit in with other people.

I'm really glad you liked this introduction to Aurora and would definitely like to see more! On the fourth anniversary of the massacre (which may have been when she released the song, but I'm not certain), she made a post that included "...Since all of you left us, how time flies, we even find ourselves forgetting for a moment, nearly moving on.. Not because we forget you, but because we remember to live..." She rarely sings directly about herself - I don't think this song is just about her experience, but how everyone around her (the nation/world) was processing things. The unfinished "I am" at the end of the song, I had interpreted through the lens of that message - a transition from "I am getting over it" to "I am living my life again". Other folks have already made some good suggestions for where to go next. There's really no wrong way to go with Aurora. I would generally tend toward live performances over music videos (which are also very good) because she's such a strong performer and really disappears into the songs she's singing. Looking forward to whatever is next!

Aurora had experienced several losses very early and used songwriting and singing to cope with it, I think. She first lost her godfather, I believe, when she was 11, she wrote Runaway, which happened to be her first hit when she released it, later. After, she lost a schoolmate in a car crash, when she was 15, she wrote Why Did You Have to Go a Place and sung it at her funerals. The audio was later published by the mother and leaked on KZbin, though Aurora didn't mean to release the song, you can find fan-made video of it. Then she lost her boyfriend in this Utøya massacre, and she wrote Little Boy in the Grass that you reacted to. As a therapist, I think you'll find Runaway very accurate and emotionnaly intelligent, especially knowing she started writing it at 11 (and finished it at 14, I believe). Few reactors notice a line which illustrates her empathy and brilliant songwriting, imho: "And all this time I have been lyin' Oh, lyin' in secret to myself I've been putting sorrow on the farthest place on my shelf" As for Why Did You Have to Go a Place, it's heartbreaking and at the same time comforting, which seems to be a constant in her work: she often adresses tough subjects, but always tries to make place for healing. That's why she has a very special relationship with her fans. Her work is a goldmine for a therapist, I think.

I’m lucky enough to call Aurora one of my dearest friends. I am from Australia and in 2015 I was on holiday in Bergen Norway I was only supposed to be there a week before moving on. See the rest of that part of the Europe. On the second day I was there. I seen a building that was like a large cathedral selling tickets to the 2015 Nobel peace prize awards. I bought a ticket and attended that night and partway through the event they introduced ✨Aurora✨ she was only 19 at this time and she was singing a song called Runaway. Ironically, this is the song that inspired Billie Eilish to become a singer. Two days after the concert I was having coffee on corner coffee shop when I seen The petite blonde haired singer walking down the street on the other side of the road I literally dropped my coffee on my table and ran across the street to introduce myself realising I would never have another chance. I told her that I had seen her concert and that I loved her voice and that I thought she was wonderful she asked me where I was from and I told her and she said that she loved Australia and asked me if I knew my way around Bergen I said that I had no idea she said to me “ would you like me to show you around?” I thought she was joking but she wasn’t and I gratefully accepted this. Was it 10 am and she showed me places. I never would’ve found on my own in the city and in the countryside we even took a mountain Trail that led to a very special Place that only locals knew about. we got back to the coffee shop at 5:30 pm. I think her sincerely and she said to me to my shock “ what time would you like to meet tomorrow?” I replied “ what for?” She said they’re still a lot more to see. And the next day we explored more together. I have since been fortunate enough to call her my friend I ended up staying in Norway in Bergen for three months hanging out with her 90% of the time even getting to see her perform on her piano I am a portrait artist and I drew a picture of her and gave it to her and she framed it and put it on her wall which was a large compliment because it meant she liked it. That was almost 10 years ago and since then I have attended three concerts of hers in Australia are fourth Australian concert next year and have travelled across the world to watch it perform a total of 39 times across four continents. I even went to watch her perform in Japan recently. She is a wonderful human being full of empathy and the most honest person I ever met. I had MY for the fact that she can say whatever she is thinking and not care about how people react she inspires strength and love everyone she touches. I’m so glad another KZbin reactor has done one of her videos I highly recommend this video of her if you want to react to another one I think it would suit your channel as it’s about domestic violence yet she still makes it sound beautiful. That’s just the way that she is. kzbin.info/www/bejne/b4aQf2mCpt-Xf68si=pRdH9fCKBD5-e2F0

Glad you liked the story, but it needs some work to be believable. The 2015 Nobel peace prize concert (and awards) was held in Oslo, an 8 hours drive frome Bergen. Not exactly the kind of spur of the moment kind of thing to do.
@i_am_m33842 ай бұрын
TBH I don't find your story believable! Some hints: 1. AFAIK there is no "large cathedral" in Bergen (If I'm wrong, you should be able to name of that 'cathedral'. For whatever reason, I never seen any 'cathedral' in Bergen). 2. The Nobel Peace Prize Concert was never recorded in any church. 3. The Nobel Peace Prize Concert 2015 was held in the 'Telenor Arena' (also known as 'Fornebu Arena' or 'Unity Arena') in the outskirts of Oslo, the capitol of Norway. While it's not absolute impossible, that at least parts of your extremely incoherent story could be true I tend to believe, that your complete story is most likely just made up! Actually the 'content' of your channel and It's creation date gives me the impression, that 'you' are (maybe) either a bot or an attention seeking ill-informed 'fan'(?). It is very unusual, for Aurora to speak about her personal life, or for her songs to be about her or her own experiences. However, it is widely acknowledged this song is about the 69 young people who were murdered on Utøya island, by the right wing terrorist, Anders Breivik. This song was first recorded, well published, 4 years after the massacre. Aurora has rarely spoken about it. However, she did say some years ago, that this young man, would probably have been seen as her boyfriend. This year, in an interview, she referred to him, as her lover. Also, this year, Aurora referred to herself as being neurodivergent. Most people were already aware of this, although I don't know if she'd had a specific diagnosis. Actually, she is very clear, that she is not interested in understanding herself. She is the most extraordinary, artist, songwriter and singer.
