From what my 2 different grandma’s taught me? One was a drop dumpling, soft, pillowy, soak up the broth situation. The other was a roll them out a little, but don’t spend too much time, and make a thick noodle-ish dumpling. Both are delicious, both are comforting. Both take me back to fall and winter in each of their kitchens where the flavors still live that can’t QUITE be recreated? But the memories are cemented. One of my most favorite meals but very few make it right. My grandma made the best chicken & dumplings & hers didn't have alot of chicken either. She grew up during the depression, so many of her meals had very little meat because either they didn't have any or had to make it stretch to feed the entire family. Chicken and dumplings was cheap to make, didn't require alot of chicken & was hearty. In my opinion, that's what makes chicken & dumplings so good. It's the taking the time to cook the whole chicken & making your own dumplings that make it so good. It's one meal I don't take shortcuts on but after seeing how you cooked that whole chicken in the pressure cooker so quick, I'm definitely trying it. Thank You for showing how it's done. 💜

Im a drop dumpling kinda gal... My Mema *always* rolled her dumplings out and cut them in small strips. It's a great fall weather type of soup.

Looks scrumptious! Thank you for advice of dropping temp to low, covering the pot, and cooking dumplings 20 minutes longer. I need to add this (and some cream) to my recipe. ❤❤❤

My fathers mother used to make him chicken and dumplings. He always wished my mother or her mother would make them. They never did. I love to cook. Your recipe and tips were excellent. Now that things are getting colder, I'm going to make chicken and dumplings for the family and start a new tradition!! THANK YOU and God Bless!

That looks delicious ❤. I gave away my instant pot after one use but i have a pressure cooker that I'm in love with. Had it for about 20 years. No bells or whistles, just sit it on the stove and let it work its magic. 😊

Thank you so much for posting this. I have been searching for a chicken and dumpling recipe to mimic my Aunt Ernestine’s and stumbled across yours. We would go to her house after church and she would already have them waiting for us and that smell would fill the whole house. They were exactly like this. The only difference was, she would cut hers into squares and they were soooooooo delicious. Think I’ll make them for tomorrow’s dinner. Again, thanks for the memories.
