My guess is they were flashing their lights for the cow outside the fence. Or they were flashing their lights because the school bus might have been stopped picking up kids with red lights flashing around the turn. Nicely done, great driving. Dave, stay safe

we honestly hate when car drivers get stuck behind us. If there is enough room on the shoulder, I try to flash my lights and move over a little so the car driver behind me can go around me safely. Unfortunately, a lot of these state highways don't have enough shoulder for us to do that though.

Hi Dave. Great video! I drove commercial bobtails for 35 years in the San Francisco Bay Area. When I did home deliveries for a cabinet company they always sent me on their toughest deliveries. I would have to drive on mountain roads that most drivers wouldn’t even try. This video brought back many memories of nightmare deliveries I did. Thanks!

I'm a retired Australian semi trailer driver, we have a lot of road's that have extremely tight corners but one road comes to mind, there is a road on the south coast of NSW , the corners are that so tight that when you are going around them your trailer wheel's (48ft trailer ) are actually going backwards, you could virtually reach out the window and touch your trailer, and this particular road had over a dozen of these extremely tight hairpin turns, you would have to get on the UHF to let other truck's know you were heading down or up and they would have to stop at the bottom or top as they would have to wait until you got down, it was a place that you never come across another truck coming the other way, shit, it was bad enough for cars , it was a road called Macquarie pass. It definitely seperated the good and bad driver's. Great video mate, greetings from Australia.

You're in Wi-th aka Wythville, VA. The pilot across the street with the Arby's has better parking I might add, stop there all the time when I can catch Arbys open. I been thru some messed up roads in VA and WV in a Big Truck. Born and Raised in Roanoke though. Just never jump on the Blue Ridge Parkway. =D Their are a few paper places that are two lane like this, narrow and the road has a weave in it as far as elevation goes and will kick your trailer left or right like it wants to roll it over. A good example is I95/US58 like you're headed to Norfolk/Williamsburg, VA. The first ten miles of the road is narrow and will throw your trailer all over the road. The first two bridges I take both lanes to cross them so the trailer doesn't smack the bridge. You gotta just take your time based on the load and your driving experience. I also recommend to slide your tandems on the trailer further back so the trailer takes a bit longer to track on roads like this because as you see, it can be tight or will cross over the double yellow more so than not. Their are far worse Roads in VA that are truck routes with much steeper hills. I couldn't imagine doing this in an automatic either, yuck! That jake brake seems weak as well. I may have even delivered to this place before, looks familiar. I been driving part time while switching at a warehouse the last three years, so for bolt cutters...... Never spend 60bucks on a pair, just grab a 20-30 dollar pair that is sharp, they can be re-sharpened. Going full time back on the road here in the next few weeks, maybe I shall see you out there.

Roads look super familiar. I drove route 8 up to Blacksburg to go to college all the time, and more than once had a tractor trailer put me in the ditch because I'd come around a corner and a damn trailer would be in my lane. Always made me glad I wasn't on my bike, and it made me wonder why truckers take roads that they can't safely navigate.

Oncoming cars flashing their lights at you not only means a cop ahead, but also is warning you of a road hazard ahead so be alert. I would say they were warning you about the loose cow on the road side. The cow might have been on the edge or out in the road when they came through and were warning you so you would be alert/aware so you could slow down and be prepared for anything. I used to be a cross-country truck driver in the 70s & 80s and that is what it meant back then, and now that I am strictly 4-wheel driver, I flash my lights to warn on-coming traffic & truckers of delays/hazards/cops ahead of them.
