Hello there Eclipse, probably the reason of why you found the combat system so punishing and other mechanics a bit strange it's probably because the game is heavily inspired in Manhunt, A game from 2003. The mechanics you mentioned which such as some enemies not moving at all and just sitting there until the player appears, is something that also happens in manhunt, pretty much all the things that seemed strange came from Manhunt. Although they did take some liberties such as adding a parry system which is not in the original Manhunt game, So maybe they could have changed some things but it seems they wanted to remain faithful to the original game. Now, the last mission does not come from any mission in Manhunt, as in manhunt the last mission is based around fighting one final boss and there are plenty shadows to hide in. So the issues of the of the final mission does not come from Manhunt and it comes from the developers of the game. Hope that helped
@ShokyoLeaf6 ай бұрын
no wonder why the combat is so dogshit 💀💀 tried to play this with my friend and we got to the last level and just couldn't beat it because the devs didn't add anything for co-op, the camera was way outta sync forcing us forcing us to pray to god for it to not trigger and summon a bunch of enemies that forced us to play super stealthy and pick one off or play against them with the worst combat in history, even when we did the bottles we used to help take down enemies barely worked and it sucked, the enemy AI has x-ray and could see you through the dark and through the walls some time, overall the game was just dogshit near the end, we did have some fun in the beginning but once we reached the last it went south real quick and was more of a frustrating game than a fun one if they just made parrying stun a lil longer to get in a hit or two than I would enjoy it more but it didn't do anything other than waste stamina and draw out fights that is played against you. (oh and you cant punish enemies who heal up but they can punish you.)

Hey Eclipse! This is the first time I actually comment something in your videos despite watching most (if not all) of your videos. Traversal is a game me and my friend discovered not so long ago, and we've played through it up until the end (which dissappointed us a little). I'll just clarify a few points to help you go through it again if you want to, which I would totally understand if you don't want to since it is HELL. Yes, the game IS absurdly frustrating to go through as a new player, we struggled SO BAD we quit it after the first night getting to the third level and finished it one night after. Anyways, the healing you get it from the guards themselves! You need to sneak behind them, follow them until you're really close and you'll notice that on their back (where your third item is positioned on your character), they've got a green potion you can snatch to use yourself. This does NOT trigger them into aggro mode since you're just sneakily stealing it. PVP is HARD AS HELL, true, but after getting used to it it gets doable; me and my friend struggled with this a lot, since every time were seen we were forced to pvp our way out of the situation, and it wasn't until the second day that we settled for the alternative of actually pvping the enemies instead of running away from them. It is possible to fight them, we did that actually and beaten a level thanks to doing so, even outnumbered... However, we were two people, and not solo. I wouldn't recommend doing it solo since, well, it's a pain of an alternative (though if you become a pvp god at the game, you might do it, it is possible.) And then, the distraction problem... It works by individuals, you throw a brick near an enemy or a bottle, whichever item you might find, and they'll go towards it to briefly check it at the moment. Upon checking the area and resolving there's no one there, they'll begin patrolling the area where they saw the brick hit the floor and stick to that area changing their moving patterns; this means that if the npc was patrolling the area "A", you threw a brick near them, in area "B" and they went over to check, they'll start patrolling area "B" instead. This can be used to force their behaviour and get them to an area you've already cleared of all enemies to lure them and kill them easily, without worrying about being seen in the process. If you trigger more than one enemy with your throwable item, this rule will also apply to that enemy as well, and both will change their behaviour to complement eachother's. I hope this helped clear some doubts about the game mechanics, love your videos man, and thanks for reviewing the game! Maybe they'll add more stuff like different endings or more levels now that you've talked about it. Peace! Edit: I FORGOT TO SPEAK ABOUT WEAPON MECHANICS. Despite both the knife and the crowbar having unique mechanics, the other weapons have mechanics regarding pvp. The axe, as example, (me and my friend hate it) hits really slowly, has a close range, but does good damage. The crowbar hits way faster, but deals significantly less damage. There's also a secret weapon, the chainsaw, it is located somewhere on level three. Weapons have different mechanics, yeah, so I guess that if you specialize in one type of combat (I, as example, choose to use crowbars and knives) you can choose on wether you prefer one playstyle or another. I think I ain't forgetting anything this time, and sorry for my bad english, I'm not even from an european or american cuntry. I'm from Argentina, lol. See ya Eclipse, keep up the amazing videos!

The combat system in Traversal is kind of spam crowbar followed by panic parrying. Bots will (almost) always perfect parry you, which means you will get softlocked if you don't: A) take some steps back and repeat the process one again B) kick him, it really works C) spam, most viable tbh Also, a lot of healing items can be found after killing enemies, so you either skipped enemy bodies or just didn't see em, because I had PLENTY of healing, I dodged death like 9 times actually. And, just so if you didn't know, light weapons are top tier in this game, they give almost no chance of parrying if you don't make it a perfect.

You can throw the will, and the turning thing is just an animation. Mostly from my experience, just don't run or walk on wooden floors while you are moving to them, and you should be fine. The last level needs you to use throables. You can throw one near the edge of the stairs and one near you to get one guy in the firsts room, then 1v1 the secend. Though I have nothing for the shodows in the lablary, there are a few, and you can use throwables to get to them, but it still sucks.

Not to be "That guy" but it kinda bothered me the way you didn't "correctly" explained some of the game mechanics or at least didn't fully grasp them before writting the video, specially the open combat. For example it is a bit more complex than it initially appears (not to say it has insane depth ofc), you CAN kill enemies in open combat, (in fact it can be really easy if you use the Axe since it does more dmg) but of course it's hard since the game expect you to find a way to take them down silently, but every weapon does have slight differences between eachother. Besides just the normal click attack & parry, you're also able to push away enemies before they fully throw the attack by doing an early parry really close to them, reseting you both back to neutral but with a slight frame advantage depending on the weapon. There's also a sort of "heavy" attack, If you sprint and attack you throw a "heavy" attack that will do more dmg than the normal attack, and that "heavy" attack can also disarm the opponent or yourself if the enemy hits you with one. And when either of you go below a certain HP threshold (Like about 30% to 20%~) a red dot appears that indicates that you can do an "execution" or "finisher" to the opponent, finishing the fight in a single, unblockable attack. About the health items, Enemies can spawn with a Throwable in their back (Either a bottle or medicine), that's how you can heal yourself before the last level, and how you can find extra bottles to distract, & a cool thing you can also do is steal the item from the enemy if you're hiden behind them, it's not really that useful because if you're sneaking behind them it means you have an easy insta-kill anyway but it is cool nonetheless. Overall i agree with and enjoyed the video, it was entertaining like pretty much all your videos, but i just felt like i had to explain somethings that you may not have catched or that some people that played the game may not realized existed. The AI can be really random at times, I for example never ran into the distraction not working problem that you had, BUT i do had the problem of the AI just being extremely cracked at the game & just suddently destroying me in open combat. I do find kinda stupid that they made it possible to beat the STEALTH game by just brute forcing your way through if you're good at the open combat since it defeats the whole appeal of the game but it is what it is. And that last level is honestly insane, how did NO ONE say ANYTHING about the level being too hard, specially in single player.

the game is hella good and fun to mess around with especially with friends there are also fun easter eggs spread around the map, like an easter bunny boss with a chainsaw or a katana hidden in a suitcase. the combat system is really easy honestly, attack, parry incoming attack, kick incoming attack and spam attacks after parrying/kicking, forgot to mention most enemies carry a health potion on them but forget that! just bait the enemies to some other part of the map and make a run for it! thats one of the ways i made it through the last level, aggrod every npc, hid in the shadows, threw a distraction far away from the door you need to progress and walk right in there. from my experience, stealth is pretty good honestly. firstly there are 3 types of enemies patrolling, stationary, and the ones that are sitting you dont necessarily NEED to be in a shadow in order to stealth kill an enemy, you can just catch them off guard. for example, when you throw a distraction and the enemy walks around to ur side of the wall, not on guard. you can stealth kill them, you can even see this in a bunch of the clips you showed where the enemy has a red circle.

About the door with 2 enemies guarding it part and just the entirety of le game: after a stationary enemy is alerted by a distraction they will start walking to specific locations and kinda be on a lookout and so that's how you kill them. You can also alert enemies by attacking walls with your weapon to bring them in closer which is extremely useful for that last part (atleast it was for me). Yes the distraction mechanic is a lil' scuffed since you can only distract 1 enemy with a throwable but I do believe the game is decently good for a roblox stealth game.

And thanks for raising concerns about the final level, I thought only I felt it was kinda rushed. The game seemingly has potential, the designs, the horror aspect, the promise of an actual fine horror game, its all there. Good review, a lot of good takes here, but I wanna add to some of them The combat *can* be mastered, but the way the game is designed actively discourages it in most cases anyway because you make a ton of noise while doing it, causing more enemies to find you while you’re trying your hardest just to kill that one. It’s hard to fight one enemy, borderline impossible to fight two. My biggest problem with that last level is that the exit is unreasonably hard to find. It’s a locked door kinda in a shadow and behind a chair, and in my first run it took me WAY too long to even find the exit

To start off, there is a cheesy ass bug where if you both interact with an item at the same time, you both get it. With 100% consistency too. This basically meant double weapons, throwables and infinite heals. (Also heals are very common on the back of the belt of the enemies and just spawn on the ground in some places.) The combat system is definitely not good and can easily be cheesed with the small knife which attacks so fast that you can just combo until your stamina runs out. We've also had many situations in which for some reason the enemies parried everything, and the hitboxes are also trash. Game was still pretty fun tho.

Besides, just like Eclipse said, there is absolutely no reason no try fight enemies, they are somehow MUCH BETTER than you in that, as they are able to dodge and tackle off your attacks, as well as just like the player, parry. You are right about the punishing open combat. I have been able to kill them in open combat before but it is pretty much RNG based. The final level gives you pretty much no hiding places, so you have to be super crafty. This game reminds me of Rockstar's "Man Hunt." They really needed to work on the shadowing on the last level, but I know where the hiding spots are. The first hiding spot is in that really dark area in the bookshelves when you enter through that door on the left. You can cheese a lot of the enemies by hiding there.

I genuinely cannot fathom how you said anything nice about this game. This is probably the worst stealth and combat mechanics I've experienced in a videogame. It's a stealth game that punishes you for moving at the same speed the enemies do. The combat is just pathetically bad you aren't missing anything. The parry mechanic is meaningless because the enemies take 0 hit stun from both parries and attacks. I was perfect parried after I did a perfect parry constantly. And I get that it's supposed to be a last resort mechanic but the stealth is so pathetic that I don't get how you aren't supposed to be in combat constantly. If you aren't crouching in a corner with literally no one around then you get seen. Distractions do less than nothing because you can't even walk up to the enemies to takedown after a distraction. Half of the time I had a take down prompt it did literally nothing or just swung my weapon at the enemy. The game is also fugly as sin too so it barely even felt like I knew what I was looking at/for. I like stealth games so I figured I'd probably just blitz through it and give some advice but god damn this game is horrible. You were way too nice to this one I don't get it. There is not an ounce of redeemingt quality here, just pure garbage.

Some notes There are many healing items, I won’t go into detail here cuz others have already mentioned it There are convenient shadows in the camera room. There are a few hours areas where shadows exist properly in the final room, although I do agree with you on the fake ones lol

the crowbar does 0 damage, that's why the other weapons are in the game, it doenst make sense but it is there.
@ragedgrunt7 ай бұрын
Alright guys enough comments about the healing item stuff, definitely wack that you can't take one enemy in combat, maybe they should have it so when you first attack your attacks do a ton of damage but if you don't kill them quickly they'll shout for help and then you're fucked.
@SnugglyBaby7 ай бұрын
for my very first few seconds of this game, my character was bugged or something, it wouldnt let me kill the guy, so that was a great start. i didnt play much, if one enemy notices you, enemies that are far away also just agro, the hive mind, i didnt know you could loose agro in the shadows, i just assumed you couldnt loose agro since id run three states away but the omnipotent gods of wisdom knew my exact location at all times
@gooffygoblin71767 ай бұрын
The healing items can be found randomly on enemies, however, they do sometimes fall on their back, where the healing is located. This causes the player to not be able to pick up the item, nor even see it. So you probably got really unlucky and every enemy fell on their ass instead of their face causing you to never see the potential heals that they had.
@Hado_-7 ай бұрын
you could still pick them up even if they fall on their back just spam space
@Bigmack_136 ай бұрын
7:22 There is a way to beat them without aggro'ing them, you can grab a throwable, and crouch, then hide in the right corner of the room, there is a HUGE shadow, then from there you can kill the guards one by one, by using...distractions, you also might need to throw the throwable mid-range so that the NPC walks towards your hiding spot, and once he turns around you can instantly run and kill him overall, i agree the game is kindaaaa bonkers for people who only likes playing the games one off
@Bigmack_136 ай бұрын
another answer: 8:07 there are TWO shadows in the corners of the door you just came through, to trigger the camera, you should probably "Test the waters" there is an icon above your health bar that determines if ur hidden or not, fyi fyi: you can hide in one of the shadows in the corner and only 2 men will come in
@Bigmack_136 ай бұрын
another answer: 8:24 in that wall, or whatever you can go to the edge of that wall and actually corner kill them, if you time it correctly, AND if ur not lagging, i've done it multiple times, theres also a shadow in that bookshelf parralel to the wall you can corner kill people out of, and you can actually just walk in this lol you dont have to crouch, because DESPITE what the game says, you can still be stealthy while walking, you can also find a bunch of shadows near the bookshelves that you need to go through inorder to unlock the exit using the crowbar, FYI: you can run at the NPC's and they will be stunned looking for the noise for a few seconds and thats more than enough time to do a "jump-execution"
@Bigmack_136 ай бұрын
9:58 you can hide in the shadow of the bookshelf, and hit the bookshelf using a knife or another contraband, for some reason the sitting dude only gets aggressive when he hears player noises only

as someone who played this game too basically like everyone else in the comments, 1 on 1 fights arent even that bad honestly, i could consistently kill them as long as im about half hp or higher the only issue is their infinite stamina. And the game was much more fun trying to finish by using all the destraction mechanics (even though they were barely working sometimes) and fighting for my god damn life whenever an enemy see's me, definitly recommend playing this with a friend though as its 10x more fun and funnier, especially when you start beating the hell out of an enemy together and one of you insta kills him by accident
@mimice94967 ай бұрын
I agree with how the last level was poorly designed, however the combat isn't made for you to win in bad situations like being seen by multiple people, it's meant to stun & run. That's the point of a stealth game. Also you can find healing items on dead enemies as well, they are glowing and shiny so I don't know how you missed them either😂.

Healing items spawn on the backs of NPC sometimes but if they fall on their back there’s no chance you can get them. Moreover, the last level with 2 guards at the door is doable through distraction but it isn’t obvious at first - you gotta bug abuse and throw the glass bottle through the wall (the right part of it) and then throw another bottle to get the guy closer and only THEN finish him off. The second guard is the same method. Battle mechanic indeed sucks but damage scaling on weapons is different. NPCs have different patterns so some might either parry you forever or keep attacking you until you die so you just gotta adapt (after enough damage dealt there will be a red circle on them).
@Cl0ckle7 ай бұрын
Some things from my own experience with this 1. Like everyone else has already said there's a few healing items throughout each level. 2. I don't doubt the issue with the combat as they seem to either have inf stamina or just collapse in seconds. But it isn't hard to kill them with it as they can't really take much dmg at least from my own experience. 3. Me and a friend had a different issue entirely with the distraction items. Mainly being that the enemies wouldn't even notice them. And if they did it was a 50/50 if they went to the spot or just beelined for us instantly. However anytime they did go for the distraction they waited there for awhile. 4. I don't have anything to say about the final level it was not really fun imo. 5. This game is so easy to cheese and break with another player. Inf duping and stun locking makes the game basically a breeze.

I beat the game in 20 minutes on my 3rd play through. It’s pretty easy once you learn the mechanics from doing a lot of experimenting(can’t wait for part two of the game.) you can kill an enemy in combat I personally didn’t find it that hard although I will admit it is very annoying. (Use the knife and spam parry and r so they can’t hit any attacks) I love you eclipse my pookie You can use distractions on the first two enemy’s in the last level by the way. I constructed this comment whilst watching the video lol

Madness combat: tuck3r is the best roblox movement shooter that i have played, movement feels clean and melee range scaling with speed rewards you for going fast, switching between weapons is cool at first and neccessary by the end, difficulty is exponential tho and you will defineatly get epilepsy if you have phtosensitivity problems

@creeferplayz93127 ай бұрын
you can kill enemies in open combat, from what I can tell from the footage you only got 1 hit in per opening when you can usually get about 2 or 3 and worst case scenario you get parried which just resets the situation with you having slightly less stamina that can easily be gotten back by parrying

A little of topic but I think you should try out a bodycam game, called hellmet. It's really well made and i think you'll enjoy it.
@goldentoilet40417 ай бұрын
The game is pretty fun in my opinion but the overall fighting feels pretty unfair, it always feels like they get the first hit on you and parrying them doesn't feel like it helps that much even if you time it perfectly. The best way to fight them for me was just ganging on them with my friend and stunlocking them. I think the optional boss fight for the chainsaws is pretty cool but you losing the chainsaws after dying makes it really pointless and useless. I also want to mention that you can literally turn around a corner while an enemy is chasing you and enter a shadow which causes them to literally go in front of you and just stand there giving you a free kill which makes the enemies feel pretty stupid. I also like how enemies can use heal and how you can steal their heals mid fight if you press space at the right time. I agree with the last level being extremely difficult. In our winning attempt my friend died and I legit spent like 20+ minutes sneaking around or running to clear out the enemies. Despite how bs it was it felt pretty fun and thrilling for me there and I felt like I was doing a die hard. (time to end up in ddos)
@goldentoilet40417 ай бұрын
Also I didn't feel the need to run back to spawn like you did. I mean I literally couldn't because I went through the camera undetected and there are a few shadow spots you could run into that are convenient but I still agree that there should be more or the ones that literally have shadows should work to circumvent the braindead run back to some shadowy spot and watch as the enemies literally look at you and then turn their back to you.

I think the camera section is bugged because every time Intried to get past it even when it was looking the other way it always detected me. Also combat mechanics do work it just takes 50 years to take out a single enemy and enemies with crowbars and machetes are almost impossible to parry
@H0LDUPWAlTAMINUTE5 ай бұрын
On the last level what you can do is agro them and then go around the door and once they are in the doorway you gotta jump out and be very quick with the takedown. I did this to 3 enemies and then baited the rest to follow me and then I would run to the door and unlock it and open it and jump down, they can't follow you down by the way.
@H0LDUPWAlTAMINUTE5 ай бұрын
I think they purposefully did this to make you really think about what to do and to make it harder by having to be really fast.

Eclipse the reason you didint kill any enemies in open combat because the crowbar is very bad at combat it takes like 10 hits to kill someone,meanwhile the fire axe takes like 4 hits but at the cost of more stamina
