My tube amps will live forever in my basement. But the days of lugging them on stage have passed. My 4x12 might as well be part of the house now, because its never going back up the steps again. I’ll still play my tube rigs. But at home only. My gig rig is a guitar, pedalboard, backpack, and 1x12

I haven't played a QC but when I heard the new 5153 models in the helix compared to my real version of that amp, it was the first time I felt that I may not buy another tube head. The models are insanely accurate. Modeling these days is stellar.

Jokes on you, I liked the nameless plugin so much, I bought an ENGL powerball 2 lol. It's a great plugin and will continue to play it a lot through my QC but it made me miss tube amps so i got an ENGL powerball 2. Nothing like playing a tube amp throufh a half or full stack. But my QC is still amazing and love its versatility. And i plan to capture the amp soon. I don't like other peoples profiles of the amps including the QC. As for tube amps dying, you need tube amps to exist and to create making new models just so these amp modeling companies can create profiles of those amps and sell them. They need to exist so people like me can capture them. Sometimes you're not going to like other peoples captures and you'll find out that you wasted money on junk when you could have captured your own and sell the amp after. Also no, this Plugin did not "rip" or kill tube amps" like the thing says. Theyll always be around

People often mistake their cabs for the “tube” feel and sound when in actuality it’s the 4x12 or 2x12 cab they are “feeling”
@TYLERtheMAGGOT16 сағат бұрын
@LuisJimenez-pb3ge That's extremely false and uninformative. I own both a quad cortex and a ENGL Powerball 2 and always plug them through my orange ppc4x12. While I'm able to get them to sound similar, the quad cortex (with a powestage 200) does not give me that feel that I would get from my ENGL powerball 2. I repeat, even when I tone match and used the same engl powerball 2 profile to compare my amp through the same cab. It does not give me the airy push that I would get with a real tube amp. It still sounds amazing and it sounds 90% close but to say it's all in the cab shows that you don't know what you're talking about.

i LOVE the nameless suite. the amp itself is insane but what got me hooked the most were the pedals in it. the zuul pedal is THE best noise gate ive ever used, and the hexdrive and grind pedals are so damn good at tightening up low tuned guitars and getting rid of the flubbiness from some amps (most significant improvement in my experience was with the duel recto). for just 100$, it is an INSANE deal and i cant recommend it enough for people looking for their first metal amp sim

I believe there will always be a place in the world for tube amps. So long as I’m alive at least a couple tube amps will have a home. Lol. But make no mistake I think these new modelers are something special. They are super cool and sound really good. I still haven’t gotten my hands on one but I’d like to try a modern modeler. I think I’m most interested in the fractal fm9 myself. So far I haven’t found an amp sim that I’m able to get better results out of than I can get with my amp and cab. But maybe it’s just because of the experience I have with micing amps and cabs. I find it much easier to get a good tone with my real rig. I struggle with plugins. But I think I might be able to get some sweet tones with a modeler in my fx loop into my cab.

As a club size player who uses a Helix in a Doomgaze band... Type / size of transformer for amplification is more important that anything . When playing a decent sized / outfitted club i dont even need a cab (their house monitors cover everything). That is a rarity, though. I use an old pearce poweramp through whatever sized cab (usually my own) for most gigs. I miss my old mesa 90/90 , though. The thing is.... What I consider inportant for feel on stage has very little to so with what the audience feels / hears. Sometimes i just go fully direct and dont worry about the rest.

Going out on tour you of course have the risk of the QC taking a dump for some reason so it would be a good idea to have small hard drive with a backup on it so if you had to just go to a guitar center and buy another you can just put your presets back on it

Agreed. Tube amps are dead. As good as modelers are now which are virtually indistinguishable to a real amp. It'll get even better in the next 5 years with better ai algorithms and faster computing output. People will always be sentimental to tube amps like they are to retro Nintendo consoles.
@bozeeke6 сағат бұрын
Nope. Modern de-tuned metal may sound great through the current versions of solid state and amp modelling equipment. However, the guitar community consists of a lot more than just modern metal. Anybody playing blues, any kind of classic rock, retro 80s hard rock, alt rock etc., can't get all the best professional tones they want out of modelling equipment. While a lot of the newer stuff sounds a lot better than the early Line6 stuff back in the day, tube amps are still better for a lot of guitar driven music.
@sethdusith60937 сағат бұрын
It's not just about tone. It's also about volume. Not every venue you play will have a PA system that's good enough. Can have all the tone in the world, but if you can't amplify it, how will you do shows ?
@xanderraymondcharles6 сағат бұрын
my rebuttal to that is if the venue doesn't have a good PA you probably shouldn't play there. If the venue can't invest in a good PA for its crowd, then they wont care to promote your show. I'd say hard pass.

This is where your wrong, qc is great I have one, only problem roll down your volume see what happens when it fizzles out because it is digital. or you want to hold a note for a long time and it fizzles on you. digital can never solve this problem. tubes don't have the problem from the beginning. the rest of qc is great. it kicks a axe fx ass anytime. along with every thing else.
