I loved Harriet Oleson. She was such comic relief. She played her part so so well, and you know I would even venture to say that she is my very most favourite actress ever I have the videos and I still watch them and they bring me a sense of calm sense of peace, expensive one time and things were much more simple. People loved each other and helped one another today. It’s not like that.

Love the videos in this one it would have been great to see the scene from which the bloopers mentioned. Little House on the prairie was such a wholesome show I grew up watching it takes me back to my childhood days. Unfortunately television isn’t what it used to be most shows today don’t have the decency. But then again the world has changed and not for the better. I’m 58 now and probably feeling what both my parents felt about my generation and what my children will also experience when there children or grandchildren are grown.

As a kid, I used to be embarrassed by the programme and didn't want to admit that I watched it and wanted to watch 'cooler' shows but now I'm in my 40's, I prefer it to a lot of what's made today. Shows that overly focus on violence, sex, etc, are the embarrassment. Another thing I've noticed is how many of the later episodes (especially from series 7, onwards), have episodes of characters with disabilities or are black in them that are the main focus of the episode, or which contribute highly, which is quite progressive for a series made in the 70's and early 80's. Now people complain that diverse people aren't represented enough.

In the books., Laura's hair reached past her waist by the time she left school and reached her knees around the age of 20, so it's unlikely that Melissa Gilbert's hair was 'too long' for her part.

I was confused about the ages of baby Grace and Mary's baby. When Grace was born Mary had her eyesight . Mary then went blind, had trouble adjusting to being blind, went to blind school , finished being a student, became a teacher, fell in love, married, got pregnant, miscarried, got pregnant again, and had a baby. In an episode where Adam, Hester Sue, Caroline, and Harriet were going for blind school business Pa and Mary went into the house "to feed our babies'. Grace looked only about a year older than Mary's baby. There was a scene before Mary was married where Grace looked about 6 months old .So in 6 months, Mary did about 3 years' worth of living.

@beckyshell4649= Baby Grace was born in "A most precious gift" Mary knew Grace was there; She asked her parents about Grace, They told her that she was crawling, & into everything when Caroline & Charles went to Winoka for their wedding. Baby Adam was born in "Author!!Author!!" I agree that there was a goof in that episode, When Laura went to tell Mary and Adam that their grandparents are coming to town to visit and see their 1st great grandchild be born...In the kitchen at the school, We see her being very pregnant and cooking in the kitchen... Adam teased her about how many children they would plan to have, I noticed that in "The sound of children" Mary did lose their 1st baby, she was so upset..It was a long time until she didn't reveal that she was pregnant again..Until "Author!! Author!!" Absolutely, Grace was about 6 months or older than Baby Adam, he was still considered a newborn in "Darkness is my Friend". Then, the ultimate sad event arrived, "May we make them Proud" . After a celebration party of the school being reality for a year, Mary, Adam, & Hester Sue planned to add on to the school for the growing students...until events happened, a fire broke out, & every one got out, except for a student who was trapped in the water closet, Alice heard James in the water closet, she decided to free him. It took precious time to get that door open, grab James and rush him to the wall, She runs to Baby Adam, has him in her arms, she goes to the door, their trapped. There are lots of goofs in this part 1 & part 2. I apologize for the long text. My favorite character is Mary. ♥️

I have noticed quite a few inconsistences in the series, like when we see a character in one episode where they are prominent for it but we never see them again, but the episode in question gives the impression implies that the character will become important. (Albert's love interest Sylvia for example, or the black doctor and his wife.) As for Laura's pregnancy, it seemed that they completely forgot about it until the drought episode. I've been watching the series on Amazon freevee and just assumed that episodes were aired out of order.

I always thought it was wrong that Albert blamed himself for the deaths of Mary's baby and Mrs Garver. While he and his friend did accidentally start the fire, in rewatching the show, you see that Mary is in her room with the baby. Adam rushes in, screaming fire, grabs Mary and out they go, leaving the baby on the bed. No one ever thought of him again until Mrs Garvey found him, and that delay sealed their fate. It was Adam and Mary who caused the deaths of the two.

Another blooper is there were two Melissa's on set.; Melissa Gilbert who played Laura Ingalls and Melissa Anderson who played Mary Ingalls. Because both girls shared the same first name, it led to a lot of confusion when filming on set since they both responded whenever someone wanted to get one Melissa's attention. Even led to arguments to the point they had to be called Gilbert and Andy off screen until Melissa Anderson left 'Little House on the Prairie' in Season 8.

The fights the girls get into on the show were hilarious. The most hilarious was Laura and Nellie having a mud fight. Another was Cassandra having a fight with Nancy when Nancy tries to steal someone's homework and is stopped by Cassandra. But the weirdest one was Laura, as a teacher, fighting with this girl she thought was stealing her husband from her in front of the whole town, including her students. Today a teacher would be fired on the spot if they did that.

@BrandiHilton-pq2km
@BrandiHilton-pq2km Жыл бұрын
@joseph2899, This one is definitely confusing. We 1st saw the house in season 1, it was not painted or repaired, it belonged to Amos Pike. He said that he built the house, and went to the city to propose to his girlfriend Miss Lilly Baldwin. No idea if they actually got married. The house was in : "For my Lady", "The collection", "The James Brothers", then it became a spotlight in season 5 in "Blind Journey", "Blind Man's Bluff"," Mortal Mission" "The 3rd Miracle", "The Sound of Children" part of the school was included in "Mr.Edwards' Returns" and in "A preacher takes a wife". Mrs.Craig had offered her help to the school to help all of them handle the kids. Mary happily accepted. Then comes "Author!! Author!!". Then "Darkness is my Friend". & "May we make them Proud" after those 2 episodes, we saw cameo shots, of Adam, & Mary outside of the construction area; They were informed that Adams father had passed away in his sleep. That was the last segment of when we would see the site again. They moved to Sleepy-Eye. There was a point in time that the foundation of the school had been there, Charles goes to sit there, reflect & remember his grandson Baby Adam, That was "The Legacy". The diverse conflict of the 2nd house that appeared in "Growing Pains" It was not the 1st house. It was only seen off and on thru the rest of the program. Then it was shown again in "May I have this Dance?" Laura's friend Mrs.Flannery learned that she was dying, She wanted to give it to Laura and Almonzo so they could take care of it, and Rose & Jenny's laughter could fill the house. Laura accepted it, and her friend passed away. Then of course, it appears in "God Bless all the dear children", and the Finale of "The Final Farewell". I hope it solves some anxiety about the 2 houses and how long they were involved with the show. Any questions, please ask.

I noticed that every time Laura encountered a life changing experience, she was wearing the brown chenille robe, ie finding her son dead in his cradle, watching Almanzo struggle to speak after his stroke, sitting before the fire contemplating Albert's impending death.There are others, but I can't think of them at the moment. Was this just the robe she grabbed and I am reading more into this than there is or was this planned as part of the setting of the scenes?

If you look at a couple of things regarding Melissa Gilbert as Laura, her crooked permanent teeth magically straightened out by later seasons as well as her wearing visible makeup after marrying Almanzo to appear older.

I got the entire DVD collection last year so I watched the entire show in order. I remember Laura's rather buck teeth and how they seemed to magically straighten. I know they had hiatuses from the show but they'd only be a few months at most and I don't think Laura ever wore braces on the set. When I was a teenager for a much less serious problem I had to wear braces for over a year so how was her problem fixed so quickly?

Melissa wore behind the teeth braces on set and wore a headgear when not filming. She also said that she wore "behind the teeth, front of the teeth braces" so when they were on hiatis she most likely had them on front.

In one episode, which I can’t remember but it was the one where the blind kids went to stop Hester Sue from marrying that one guy. Anyway there is a scene where they were practicing their singing. There is one little black girl in the front kept side eyeing the camera, and following Hester Sue movements. The other kids kept looking forward or had their eyes closed.

Rachel Greenbush, credited as Lindsay, and her twin sister Sidney Greenbush played Carrie. Nellie's mother's the one who turned Nellie's restaurant into a franchise. Melissa Gilbert played pranks with Allison Arngrim. The episode you called "The Monster of Walnut Grove" is "The Creeper of Walnut Grove". "The Last Farewell" is a TV movie that aired the year after the last episode.

I purchased the entire series just to find the episode where Albert was adopted. It was a two parter, and I had only seen the first half when my parents turned off the TV when I was much younger (in the 70s or 80s). So, when I was in my 30s, I finally saved up enough just to buy the entire series . . . and I binged every Albert episode I could find. I guess that means Albert was my favorite? Though I had always been fond of Charles.

@@FactsVerse The episode where Albert was going to marry the neighbor girl who'd gotten pregnant from her father's abuse. It stuck with me ever since I saw it back when it aired (and, yes, I'm in my 50s now). I was always horrified someone could do that to their child, or any child. And I always saw Albert as a hero for attempting to help her . . . as well as for trying to take the blame of being the father of the child.

There is another continuity error was involving Mary's hair in season 1. In the episode "Country Party, Town Party", Laura is down in creek teasing a crab. Mary comes to her to tell her that Ma has a surprise for them. Mary has her hair loose. But when they arrived at the house the top of her hair was fascined with a beret. Also, later on in the shows Mary seems to wear plastic combs, and when she goes away she wears a plastic hair band. Plastic was not invented yet. Casandra later on in the series wears a "Slick" hair beret in her hair. Slick hair berets were plastic and were very in fashion in 1981 when the episode was shot.
