He was really the first major recurring villain. And one that had no problem murdering anyone in his way. Most other iterations of the SD franchise mainly consisted of children’s horror that loses its actual horror aspect once you grow up. However, Mystery Incorporated (while still technically a kids show) wasn’t afraid of scarring it’s younger audience and relished in it. I’m not going to lie, I grew out of Scooby-Doo’s horror style very quickly and moved on to actual horror, but I can still tell you, that Mystery Incorporated (while still not really scary for anyone over the age of 10) had some pretty tense moments. To this day, there are some scenes in this show that give me chills. Unsurprisingly, most of those moments involved Professor Pericles in some way. The only two cartoons I have seen that handled horror effectively that it works for older audiences, but doesn’t scar it’s younger viewers are Mystery Incorporated, and Courage The Cowardly Dog (minus the not scarring part lol)

MI is, beyond a doubt, my favorite iteration of Scooby Doo (mad respect to Pup tho, probably my 2nd favorite). I had just entered adulthood when this show came out, and unfortunately missed out on its original airing due to life making it hard to watch TV anymore. Still, I had heard the high praises for this show and when I saw it on Netflix, I ended up binging the series for the next not-even-a-full-week. I was just _hooked._ It lived up to the hype. I loved the darker spin on the series while not dropping any of the charm or the cheese, I already love serialized stories (I liked 13 Ghosts for that reason), and the sheer scale that MI went for, going well beyond the next bad guy in a mask or, hell, the town itself and encompassing the whole world in a story that ends at an apocalyptic level. It was like watching Zombie Island or Witch's Ghost for the first time, except longer and going more for a mildly more lovecraftian angle vs. the supernatural (as a side note I love both movies about as much). Also the entire show was filled with references to older Hanna Barbera shows, beyond just past Scooby Doo series. Hell at one point the animal mascots of the HB series band together and even the animation style changes to look like it was animated back in their heyday. MI was filled to the brim with fanservice like that for the older crowd, but without sacrificing anything for the main core of the series. MI is 10/10 I love the show.

Darker? It involved death and plenty of close calls that made you think people were really gonna get hurt. The house that sunk in the ground, the mystery of the cursed treasure that continued on the entire series that not only lead to more people involved but what they did to get the pieces, romance (it didn't feel that silly TBH, it led to marriage then Frad calling it off), Freds kept secrets from his fake father this show had it all and season 1 ended on such a good note. Also Scooby has became more brave than he's ever been. They did this show right. I hope if they ever take another crack at this they will include murder mysteries.

This is probably the second darkest moment. The first that really shows how good it is: Press read more for spoilers It's one of the very last episodes, where HotDog water stays behind to hold the bird, then it cuts to the gang as gun shots ring in the distance. That look between Velma and Scooby just says everything. While the death of this episode underwater is pretty harsh, it still holds a "Maybe she'll come back, after all we didn't see her die" type of feeling where HotDog water's death was just so much more darker. God that scene always messes me up, especially since she was a part of the gang for a bit

Subsequent iterations of the franchise were disappointing to me as I grew older, and as an adult, I missed much of the Scooby Doo movies that I only discovered later in life. Mystery Incorporated was a pleasant surprise, staying true to the original episodes while being both darker and more sophisticated. Not to mention the continuity and references to not only the older shows, but to other Hannah Barbera cartoons. I was genuinely fascinated by the previous mystery groups that came before our group, although ultimately, I was a bit disappointed and put off by the ending of the series. While some people have recognized the quality of this series, I suspect it will be under-rated until a new generation grows up and re-discovers this.

Scooby Doo is a bit like Batman. On the one hand, it's got a usual tone. However, it sometimes flips over to the opposite, like how Batman had Batman '66 and The Brave and the Bold, and Scooby has things like this. I like how the series (from what I've heard) combines the wacky guest stars with a more serious, serialized tone. Those guest characters were Mariana(s) Trench level of deep cut, though,

Mystery Incorporated is the pinnacle of Scooby Doo. It's the perfect modern day take on the concept of Scooby Doo. Such a great series to marathon in October.

I remember when this show first came out and I hesitated since I never found myself really liking constant spin-offs of Scooby Doo, I just loved the live action films (Scooby-Doo, Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed) and the OG show so much I didn’t give it a chance. A couple of months later I ended up giving it a watch and was mind-blown on how underrated it was and how it’s overall tone was pretty enjoyable and awesome, this is a good case of ‘don’t judge a book by it’s cover’ because after catching up with the series I would wait for new episodes on CN and actually found myself actually really liking it in the end. Also you should watch the Scooby Doo crossover with Supernatural “Scoobynatural” (Supernatural: Season 13, Episode 16) it reminded me of this series since it’s a tad bit more dark by a lot

I honestly love this iteration of Scooby Doo. It felt like the characters were fleshed out a bit more and I appreciated that. However, it made me so uneasy when both Hot Dog Water died (her death was horrifying) and Cassidy.
@amandamakin15422 жыл бұрын
Danny Darrow's death is depressing, & don't forget Professor Pericles killed Ed Machine & tortured Ricky Owens with snake venom. That got to me too, as well as Cassidy, Nova & Marcies's deaths.

It's my favourite scooby doo series. It feels like it was aimed for slightly older viewers (by that I mean teens/young adults) it's reminiscent of the older shows but the over arching stories and the darker theme is spectacular🥰

Mystery Incorporated made me fall in love with Scooby Doo all over again. It’s still one of my favorite shows. This episode in particular because of its somber ending. It gave the series real stakes and showed how dark the creators were willing to go. A bit of foreshadowing for the darkness of Mr. E’s fate and Marcy’s.

I’ve watched mystery inc. 2 times through once when I was maybe 12-13. And then I just finished watching it again at age 17. I understand a lot more now that I’m older and I appreciate it so much more. I think it’s great for people that grew up watching scooby-doo to watch when they are older bc it’s like a more mature version of it. I personally wish they would make an adult version of scooby- doo bc it has so much potential. But the closest I think we’ll get is this and the one supernatural scooby-doo episode. Overall I love mystery inc. and wish they would have picked up where they left off or made a spin off. I wanna know what happens next

I remember watching Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated when it first came out when I started High School. I watched it while it was airing until the Medieval Fair episode, then never saw it again until last year. It's all my daughter would watch for a while. XD I certainly enjoyed it, and so many scenes had me at the edge of my seat and crying. I have always been a Scooby-Doo fan since I was a kid, and it's nice to start a lot of the older movies and series with her.

The Nazi robot actually looked like it was from Jin Roh: the wolf brigade🐺🌲🌕 Plus mystery incorporated definitely played into Lovecraftian theme for its overall narrative story. Best version of the Scooby Doo series I think. It's at its best when it does this. If a series combines real demons, monsters, and spirits and mix it up with someone actually wear a a costume just to throw Fred off I think it make a perfect series. And you can definitely see the inspiration for Scooby Doo and Fred with Tub and his crew. Tub is an overweight shorter version of Fred.

the fact that it was "darker than usual" made it the best scooby-doo series there is. That, and there was a running storyline over the 52 episodes that made it run together smoothly. Perfectly paced, too

Love this series, I saw the series as it air on Cartoons Network, I remember the wait for season 2 and 2nd half of season 2 is very long; for those hasn’t see the series, this basically Gravity Fall before Gravity Fall Warning: the romantic subplot run through the first half of season 1 is, for me at least, the worst part of the show; but if you manage to get through those episodes, you’re going to enjoy the rest of the series

As someone who grew up watching the older scooby shows and movies (I’m 20 now) Mystery Inc is one of my absolute favorites. As a kid I loved how it was scary and intense- and as an adult Mystery Inc reinstalls those feelings that I no longer get from the older shows/movies!

I never sat down and watched it from start to finish, but I LOVED Mystery Incorporated, and still do. My most vivid memory is this weird episode, I have no idea which one, but the gang was in like… basically a haunted house? And the traps were very specific but meant for the OG mystery solving team and it was just. It was interesting, messed with my younger self’s head in a creepy way.

In the series finale, Mystery Inc. destroys the evil entity during the Nibiru event, sending them into an alternate timeline where its evil never effected Crystal Cove. And Cassidy was found, not just very much alive, but also happily married. And nobody remembers any of it except Mystery Inc. themselves

I loved the Scooby-Doo cartoons as a kid, and I found this series as an adult. I started watching it thinking it would be another typical Scooby-Doo reboot and would give me a little nostalgia. I was very wrong. This series could get very dark, with onscreen deaths, a huge conspiracy, a sense of actual danger, and the flipping apocalypse (I know that there being an apocalyptic event occurring/hinted at towards the end of a cartoon series is almost a cliche at this point, but this was done before that). Plus, the scariness of monsters from each episode was pretty amped up from the other reboots (although they make a lot of nice homages to the original series). The whole show felt a lot like Gravity Falls with a side dose of The X-Files.

Mystery Incorporated is the best Scooby-doo mainly because it just isn’t the solving a mystery every-time, each mystery is actually connected to each-other and comes to a single story I loved it a big part of my childhood. I just can’t get enough of it it’s up there for one of the best animated series with like others

Mystery incorporated helped me through a rough patch and it brought back my curiosity and my love for voice acting. I can now do a perfect shaggy impression from classic Scooby doo. I love Scooby Doo a lot. And i feel connected especially to this one because it started out predictable but then got me thinking and thinking and being wrong a lot later on. I love mystery incorporateds darker side a lot. It's also special to me because i saw the episode with "que horifico" when i was little and it scared me so much we turned it off. But now coming back it shows me how much i grew and just how much braver i became
