Building Together

We don't buy Lego Ninjago sets, but when we do, we tend to like them quite a bit. After taking an in-depth look into this set, we bought it, built it, played with it, and studied it. How does this set deliver a stellar building experience? How versatile are its pieces? What about the minifigs? Find out in this review of a new release!

Thanks for the review. Given the cost I opted for 80058 Celestial Temple. I think it hits all the points you made and it is 2/3 the price. I've just started building it.

Yeah, that's a really nice-looking set. If I had the budget, I'd strongly consider buying it.

Great Video! My favorite LEGO Theme is Ninjago and this is definitely a Set on my Wanted List!

Thanks! I like the theme, but don't often get sets due to other priorities.

Ninjago covers the most ground of any Lego theme. They can kill it with a $20 set and it still feels right at home next to a $370 Ninjago City modular.

Ninjago and - I dare say - Friends are the only themes to consistently do this.

I'm very brave! Kinda like admitting to KZbin when your wife leaves you (that was a funny video, btw!).

Thanks for the review! I like it more as a samurai castle myself, I really miss that genre. Is that a dragon build included?

It is! And, yes, the samurai castle stuff was cool back in the day.

How would you compare this set with set 70751, Temple of Airjitzu?

Good idea -- I have that.

I wish I could make that comparison, but I don't have that set. It's one of the sets on my "regret I didn't buy" list.

First-time comment -- I enjoy your (+ wife/fam) channel. Two questions: 1) would Ninjago Tournament Temple City go well with the four Ninjago "official city sets" (the huge ones -- I'm fortunate to have all) -- and if you have them would you show how this set might best fit in? 2) when you say this might be the best set of summer -- are you including the Dungeons & Dragons set --- cause the D&D is amazing. Then again, D&D is a spring set, right? Still -- how do these compare -- say if D&D top set of spring (Idk if you agree) and Ninjago Tournament Temple City top of summer (apples and oranges?). Thanks.

Welcome to the comments section, and thanks for watching! I actually started taking photos of the Ninjago City sets with the Temple. The video will come out in the next week or so. I didn't include the D&D set since it was released in the spring. But there are a lot of similarities (I admit I don't have the D&D set) in terms of how they are set up with the rocks and water at the bottom and more structures on top. The key difference to me is that the D&D set costs $110 more for fewer minifigs and slightly more parts. As someone who isn't a huge D&D fan (I never played it growing up), it's hard to justify that price...especially when we knew Barad-Dur was going to cost $460.

Buy a second set to make it a closed “temple”.

That's REALLY expensive! But it would be absolutely huge.
