@@aerohk sergeant major is still one of the most respected ranks even by officers, and E-9 pay is WILD, he definitely has a pension and will never have to work again

This guy deserves so much respect. One of the greatest leaders to wear the uniform. A high IQ leader that would have been an incredible officer, but marines benefited more from him in the enlisted leader role. Mad respect!

I have a broken contract served 94 to 98 then jumped back in 9/11 from 01 to 04. Second 4 was waayyyy better than the first, learned so much more and got some great schools in as well.

That shit is not for the weak. Weak people that want an easy lazy life do not last in the corps and they especially do not make it to SgtMaj.

Easy you dont like it, dont join. Not many people have to opportunity to magically make themselves successful in the civilian world. Some people have it rough and the best way to escape and improve upon yourself is joining. Does shit happen and it fucking sucks? YES but that goes for anything in life, there will always sacrifices and hardships no matter the place you go. Its how you move through life and face your challenges that matter.

I got out. For 80 days. Then relisted. Which help me get promoted to E5. Than I made E6. If i would have made Chiief, i would apply for the chief warrant officer program. And go for the LDO program. But they got rid of the F14 PROGRAM and then I retired.

I regret my chosen MOS of 0331/17 52yrs old now... 5 back surgeries 2 broken feet 1 broken ankle (compound feature) 1 gun shot wound (chest, thru and thru) 1 shoulder surgery PTSD Depression (Former) Pain pill addiction The Corps chewed me up and spit me out amd I pay for it everyday.

I went up and talked to the recruiter, and he looked at me, smile on his face, and asked me if shooting guns was fun?!! I sure fell for it, hook line and sinker.

Army vet here! Did 8+ years, been out for almost 2 but feel I need more technical skills, I’m 32, fit and on the border of joining navy reserves just for extra cash. I chose navy cause they have a veterans program and just require your DD214, non boot camp, keep same rank level or higher and jsut gotta do other admin shyyt.

I'm going to guess that what happened was he got out into the private sector and realized that as a marine he's not really getting paid a living wage but he does get free health care, housing allowance, etc. So there are benefits. But if you're just a regular working guy, you don't get none of that shit and you don't get paid a living wage. So you're working poor and homeless. At least if you're in the military you won't be homeless

I was in SgtMaj Greens first unit as a Sgt Major and he was highly respected. I loved going to his formations because he was such a great motivator. He went on to be SgtMaj of the Marine Corps and it doesn’t surprise me. The SgtMaj before him was quite useless and a bit of a douche.

He rejoined because he failed to acclimate to civilian life…it’s not easy…I’m still struggling with it after 3 years but I refuse to go back…

I did not want to get out, but my crappy commander would not sign my cross train papers. Even though my cross train was approved, he would not release me from the career field, so I said, OK goodbye and got out no other man dictates my future or my career I do
