I literally got some DPS players like this when I was off rolling. They got real fucking mad when I said I was a tank main and I could switch to hitscan to kill em easily. Funnily enough I was already ana and surpressing the pharah. Blizzard take note this is what happens when junk and symm mains and the like think they're good. It's devastating.

As a support main who just got out of Bronze, I'm pleasantly surprised when I don't have to swap to Ana and take care of Pharah. It's very common I have to be the one to handle it. If the Pharah is good and recognizes I'm the only one shooting her though and dives me specifically it's usually a game over.

Oh boy, that's the story of my life too. I just got out of bronze, whenever I see Phara, I immediately go to Ana because I know my junkrat & reaper ain't gonna change to deal with her. It's Phara + Mercy combo that gets me all the time. Or a good Phara that immediately prioritises me.

Some advice to the submitter: As Mercy, you should try using crouch to superjump sometimes too, because looking up every time like that is angling your camera away from everything else, and sometimes that's also paired with your beam breaking, which you can't immediately remedy due to looking in the sky. As Brig, you really shouldn't be bashing into a Rein's face. Bash is best used as a movement/escape ability. The Kiriko play was imo the best shown here, and was surprised she was swapped off. Keep up the good work.

I-... The beam doesn't break when you look away... That's the point of the character. Plat 1 here, crouch jumping should be out of the question, you should use as much GA fling as possible over the crouch jump. It makes your trajectory way less predictable and make you learn to watch where you are going, while also giving you more speed. Please do not recommend to people to crouch superjump over that. Yes, crouch jump can be real good at some situations, for example where you are too close to a teammate and need to avoid the BIG SLAM or to get high ground near by... But mostly only then.

I got so mad watching them play Brig. They were acting like they were going to run out of ammo if they swung. Swing your mace, for the most part there's no down side to swinging randomly. Even if you know you're out of range there's a chance of you accidently hitting someone just cause your mace is out there.

Take a lot of damage, pull up your shield, go back to cover and recover health. If they want to chase you you should be swinging on the corner just in case they're brave enough to do it

As someone else mentioned in the comment, I have a feeling it might have been a miscommunication there as well, it could be that the DPS mentioned that it's also the supports job to contest the Pharah. Which I feel is somewhat true, Pharah or specifically Pharah-Mercy is a team effort and supports that can fight back long range like Bap and Ana can contest. Also, I notice the 3 or more times the Pharah died, the Sol-journ did help, for the 1st time when Ana finished him, I saw a railgun pass through the Pharah as well. 2nd time was the Sojourn who finished them.

Depends on what the team comp is though, because Mei in a rush comp is very good, and it may be up to the supports and other dps to counter a Phamercy comp, and Junkrat can play against the Pharah in unique ways to still get value. If the team comp doesn’t support or depend on them being on those characters though, then not swapping is just throwing considering how many easy hitscans there are. Even going Hanzo would probably get them more mileage depending on the map and their patience of aiming.

The description makes it sound like the DPS is telling the Supports to defend them from the Phara, but I think it's more likely that they told the Supports to defend themselves from the Phara. To be fair it helps if the Supports can defend against a flank. It helps more if the DPS also help.

Their other support was an ana. She does 75 damage per shot and has hitscan when scoped in. So the ana should be helping damage the pharah. The best thing mercy can do is just damage boost.

​@@whatisthis9951popping valk can be a very effective tactic to kill a pharah if your team is consistently struggling to do it. obviously they are more impactful ways to use valk, but if the team just can't do it, using valk and flying above the pharah and killing them from above can be incredibly valuable. I say shoot from above because that way, if pharah shoots back, the rockets go into the sky and hit no one. if you shoot from below, the rockets might miss you but hit someone else

The first time the Soujorn died to the Pharah is hilarious: He knows the Pharah is there as she had just got him down to around 80 hp but he proceeds to stand still and confused in the middle of the ramp waiting for heals(probably spamming the f out of the 'I need heal' voiceline) then proceeds to get ultied into oblivion by the Pharah as he completely forgets about her. Bastion is okay all a flyer would have to do is wait out turret form and then challenge. His hitbox is so big he’s an easy target for full sticks from echo and directs for pharah. I’d say soldier, Ashe, or cass are a little better. More mobility as well as smaller hit box with consistent damage out put. And ofc widow if u hit shots

But generally bursty damage is better against them if pocketed, as the Mercy won't be able to react to it as well. Ashe, Cassidy, Hanzo, Widow, Sojourn. Not really Soldier, as he's more sustained.

Sombra is alright but is currently getting every rework so I can't say nothing because we don't know how she's going to turn out. Echo is just echo nothing to say there. The reason I say Bastion is because Bastion players are more common to see vs a good ashe, echo, sombra.... ect.

I don't know if supports should target Pharah alone, but Zen should almost always have a discord orb on her, and I've always thrown a biotic orb onto her to get her to move as Moira, but dps should also target her.

As a gold-2 sup I LoVe lower-rank tanks and dps. Yesterday I jumped into QP before comp and picked Ana. I was DPSing a little (my healing and damage had pretty much the same numbers) cos I'm still practicing precise sleep darts and damaging bionades. We won the match eventually and our evidently smurfing tank (but I doubt his main acc rank is high tbh) started giving me life lessons, like "Ana, if you play a healer, please learn how to heal. If you want to DPS, pick a DPS". The fun fact is that I play with friends all the time and they occupied both dps, so I couldn't pick one. But all in all I love it. You are to blame if you couldn't outheal tank's 1vs4. You are to blame if you didn't save flanking dps who ran away towards the other end of the map. You are to blame if somebody got bionaded or discorded and didn't step back but kept pushing instead. You are to blame if you didn't save someone while being focused by a flanker like Genji or Tracer or Reaper. But if you get flanked and you died cos everybody ignored your pings, its your fault somehow. And, oh, low healing, of course, you could actually heal your teammates whilst jumping around genji. My friends playing tanks or dps irritate me too sometimes. "NICE SUPPORTS ZERO HEAL" he screams into my earphones after rushing forward and ending up in a 1v5 out of my LOS :) Funny thing is that when I get a chance to play DPS I die much less than them, even though they are better at the game in general. And I don't blame supports cos as a support main I can see when it was my fault that I died. I love playing supports but it's so tiresome sometimes.

I play support sometimes too(plat 2 rn) and I think you're exaggerating LOL. I got complaining whiny teammates sometimes, however sometimes you gotta understand that it was your fault that someone died, realize your mistake and move on. If someone isn't listening to your callouts that someone is diving you tho, get yourself a new team or something and don't solo queue

We're a 3-stack and games go way better when we pick different roles cos in this case coordination is much more effective. But in those matches when we pick roles just because we want to, coordination goes to hell quite often. And I've also didn't state anywhere that I get such complaints all the time, though, but 1v5'ing teammates are very common, I get people rushing forward while most of the team is reviving back in the spawn room and die before the next team fight starts, like, every other game And I also never said that it's never my fault that someone died in all, I realize perfectly when it was me who messed up :)

An ana or bap can (and should) help pressure the pharah out if/when they can afford to, but it should indeed be the hitscans *main* job to focus her. Just saying you can support by doing damage and increasing the pressure as well

Absolutely. No doubt some supports should shoot at phara, and other opponents. I main ana. If i see someone low, I’ll shoot them. You do a ton of damage for a reason. Also, some supports, it is more efficient to alternate heal / damage.

Idk why with bap I can get into the rhythm of shooting inbetween heals but kiriko I can’t seem to be as comfy doing that. I’m usually spamming shots or spamming heals. Moira it’s natural to go back and forth. Ana I heal bot and dps about 40% of the time unless I’m doing great

@@AquaMusica305 yeah, it takes time. If someone is real low, with kirko, i focus heals. If people are about to take damage, i try to predict that and throw heals there way and then go to dps with kirko. Ana is pretty easy as you are far back and its easy to see if you can take a shot at a mercy or phara, etc. Bap is also easy to alternate. Makes a big difference if playing with friends and people are talking but in ranked, I rarely talk. I use pings and will listen to others call outs to a T. Team heals should always be first but not taking damage opportunities is putting yourself (ult charge, etc) and your team to a disadvantage.

Had this shit in a gold match. Enemy had a very deadly Pharah with a Mercy pocket. Their movement and positioning, and near 100% direct hits ratio, made it obvious the Pharah was a smurf/ boosting the Mercy, and did not belong in a gold game, but that's besides the point. So our whole team is getting murdered, 3-4 kills each fight to the Pharah alone, largely solo kills too. Our Soldier is getting killed first almost every single fight and gets tilted by it. Soldier gets mega toxic and starts blaming both supports. One swaps to Ana and does basically no healing, as they're so focussed on shooting at this Pharah. Obviously this isn't enough to stop the murder of our team, and Soldier starts getting REALLY toxic, racist, etc, blaming everyone but themselves. The only success we had was my Kiriko working with a Winston to kill their backline and exploit high ground to get some picks on the Mercy, which mostly forced the Pharah away. Still a horrible loss, but blaming support for your inability to click on a Pharah is not it...

I'm a DPS, and I run into bullet for maximum uptime and to save my support from getting shot. It's the healers' job to heal me through the fire for maximum uptime. - This 76

The soldier 76 isn't entirely wrong. The supports shouldn't solely rely on their dps to kill people. Ana, baptise, zenyatta, kiriko should be helping doing damage to pharah. If you're mercy then you should be damage boosting a hitscan to help them. This puts extra pressure on pharah and makes it so she can't do whatever she wants.

I’ve been lucky a couple times as kiriko and killing pharoh but I usually wouldn’t assume a kiriko can help out It’s like if the hanzo/kiriko is nutty aim sure but most times I’m bank on hitting shots by spamming one spot and not trying to vertically move my mouse to keep it head leveled I’m not a pro kiriko just my 2 cents from low ranks below gold

hmmmmm how exactly kriko and zen gonna kill pharah you cant shoot down a pharah with a slow projectile like kuni and you have to be a god at leading shot in order to get 1 zen ball on pharah in which a mercy is gonna heal just as fast, bap and ana are the only support that can threat a pharah not a pharmacy a pharah flying solo

@@thegaminglord2190 you don't get it. You don't have to kill her, you just have to contribute to pressuring her by shooting at her. If you're just expecting your dps to take care of everything and they aren't then that's how you lose games. Just because hitting your shots is going to be more difficult on certain characters doesn't mean you don't try at all. Also Zen can discord orb. Again, will you kill her as zen or kiriko? Probably not, but trying to shoot her anyways and possibly landing a lucky shot is a million times better than healbotting and expecting your low elo teammates to take care of everything.

@@whatisthis9951 worng, the amount of time your spending on trying shooting the pharah with zen and kriko you should spend it on support your team, you won't "pressure" the pharah by missing your shot and occasionally hit her, your low elo team don't wanna take care of it fine, switch to ana or better yet bap, those two has it in thier kit to allow both supporting your team and dealing dmg at flyers

I had a DPS player tell me that I was the one who should've killed the genji that we were 2v1 on and heal him. He couldn't kill when i was pocketed him and he still couldn't do it, started shooting at genji, hanzo died I kill genji. But that was all my fault. So what is that DPS supposed to do then??? lol

Pharah gets ignored so much in metal ranks it’s insane. She’s just floating up there getting free kills usually. And for some reason, there’s always one in the game when I play support. I usually just go Bap and do my best with it. Otherwise, if I’m on DPS, I’ll go Soldier and melt her ass 😂. When I’m playing tank, it’s a gg. I try with Doom, but man, she’s hard to hit with him.

Players don't know how to look up. In the developer commentary for Portal, they noted they needed to provide a visual indicator to guide a player's eyes up because of how much players will just not look up when searching for clues to a puzzle.

In silver, that’s not a good idea since your team usually takes a lot of damage or doesn’t know to back you up, so as you saw when you were bap or brig you kept getting picked off. I kinda agree that ana would have a lot easier of a time shutting down pharah. Than soldier or bastion. I mean YES they are hitscans... But... Idk... Pharah can be a slippery little rattlesnake sometimes. And 1-2 shots from ana would make her retreat. (Aiming in ana can hit pharah easily) 1 headshot from kiriko would also kill/force retreat.

As a support I can confirm it is my job to kill the Phara because dps players are clearly to smooth brained to move their reticle up or down. I usually go bap to kill Phara.

support means helping the team. that doesn't just mean healing. Ana is a hard counter to pharah. Bap is really good against a Pharah. hell, a mercy in valk can take down a pharah pretty easily. it isn't the dps' job to kill the pharah. that's a priority for the whole team. dps tend to have the tools to handle pharah the most efficiently, sure, but it is still everyone's concern AND tanks and supports have several options for countering pharah too

My take on this is that if you're unable to pressure pharah or the backline (like a brig or a junker queen) when they have pharah WITH a mercy pocket, you should swap. If you're junkrat, reaper or lucio, you can still make plays, but not when you're on brig or junker queen
