They didn't even play "barely better". Half the team fights THEY were the one making it a 4v5 in the enemy favor. They were not timing their engages, zoning areas, pressuring the right targets. Their biggest contribution was killing turrets and hitting generic spam damage - which will get you pretty far in silver but not far enough to rank up anytime soon.

Agreed. Back when I was climbing through plat the game fucked up and put me in a silver 1 game on havana. We steamrolled through with 3 mins left and then I went widow and killed the supports out of spawn to the point they left. I felt bad but comp is comp, I can't control the atrocious matchmaking

That was 100% an ego vod, and their ego vod play was still silver AF. They have some ok mechanics on Pharah when they can manage to stay in the air, but the decision making and team awareness was a treat to watch.

They don't have any mechanics on Pharah. They managed to successfully conc themselves out of harms way like what, once or twice? They were utterly incapable of managing their fuel flight, they didn't do any dive assassination attempts whatsoever (which I then presume they simply can't mechanically execute.. Pharah movement 101), and they didn't use conc offensively to force an enemy out of position or off the map. They have the bare minimum of Pharah mechanics for Silver, let alone in general. It may be harsh, but this is just what it is.

I think currently, this Pharah is exactly where they belong. If they manage to improve and work on fixing the mistakes they're making, they might be able to get somewhere. They're just not Plat ready yet from what I can tell. Also the Bridge claims more souls - it will always claim souls.

Because Support dicates everything about the game right now, and trying to have impact by fighting supports usually just leads to a dps getting rolled, whereas fighting on the frontline often just feels like a stalemate until someone randomly dies or gets unlucky.

@@kallmeej9106 ONE/TWO DPS BEING EXTREMELY STRONG IS NOT THE SAME AS A MAJORITY OF THE CHARACTERS IN A ROLE BEING EXTREMELY STRONG. Those DPS characters need obvious nerfs, but so do supports, and the majority of them need harder nerfs than the DPS. Support sustain is too strong for how easy it is, and the best ones damage numbers are too high for how strong their sustain is, so those supports [Bap, Illari, Kiriko, Ana (although to a lesser extent just because full anti is very strong), and even Moira and Brig depending on the situation] can handily out-sustain a DPS heroes damage while doing comparable damage themselves. If most of that sustain was just for supports only, then it wouldn’t be so bad, but the sustain and healing for allies is too high for supports to be that hard to kill. Lifeweaver’s sustain for his allies is insane, his escapes are great, and his damage is usable in a pinch. All of that would be fine if his Tree and Platform didn’t have high HP, especially his tree since it now gives overhealth. Mercy, Zen, and Lucio are the only well-balanced supports right now because they are strong in the right comps, but not oppressive to the point where they can’t be countered by solo-attacks from enemies.

My Support has consistently stayed Diamond 2 since season 2. I know how to play Support, and that is why I am complaining because the other roles can’t have considerable impact without running either cheese that everyone hates, or having OWL levels of cooperation.

plat is not a high bar, but boy did this fall below it. Only reason this Pharah got value was because the enemy team was clueless. Enemy Soldier 76 was ulting and let Pharah slowly take him out from behind instead of turning around or looking up. Classic "I got some elims on low silver players, I'm a god" complex while he's peeking at ONE hp despite having the spawn room right next to him

As someone who sucks at balancing my fuel on Pharah, I am pretty much the same. Can someone give me some tips how I can balance my fuel usage better?

Tap instead of hold if you want to stay at a certain elevation. Use self hurt m1 to launch yourself up then shift to get slightly higher. Boom is better saved as a utility instead. Being "Ground pharah" isnt bad, but only when you're recharging fuel , look for high grounds for you to land on as they're safe for you to land and usually closer to you. Example being Gibraltar 1st and 2nd point. 1st point you can absolutely sit on bridge then retreat to top of boxes, and later the top of the point end. 2nd point the entire ship works as a landing pad for you. But you're also vulnerable to being sniped by widow here since there's very few walls to hide. 3rd point also the same in gibraltar, land on high grounds instead.

Your team is a bad comp for Pharah, and the enemy is a bad comp for pharah…picks pharah Or the flip side of that whenever I play against a pharah my dps just wants to play Genji and Junkrat

@@jayreese8522 I’m not even talking about counters, there are characters that force a swap. Either for your team or the opponents. And Pharah is definitely one of them. Moira, Brigg, Lucio, Bap and Ana are going to have a hard time healing her. And Genji, Hanzo, junkrat, Sym, Tracer, Torb, sombra, Mei, and Reaper are going to have a hard time hitting her. (granted I play controller so maybe some of these are easier on M&K) Sombra’s kind of the same, she works great against a poke comp, but if they’re a dive comp then DPS will be better off playing characters who stick close to their support. Direct 1 to 1 counters suck, but team comps are always going to be a part of this game. There will always be characters who work best with and against certain playstyles.

Theres a moment near the end that represents this vod perfectly, the enemy Soldier uses visor and then doesnt even look at this pharah player until the end. Plat hitscan will cook this pharah

You should only play Pharah if their comp is especially weak to it (they have double healbot supports, genji/sym dps etc). If you want to play her in general you need to specialize in all her tech, which isn't worth the effort. Put that effort into aim training which can be transferred to half the roster and carry you to plat overnight.

Support is broken and that’s why streamers are calling it out, also why they are getting nerfed. I’m a masters solo player all ranks btw. If I lose it’s on me, not my team or what’s meta. Supports are the strongest role right now. I don’t main any role and constantly switch because that’s how I have fun, so I have experience on this. I see what you’re trying to say, but you’re going all wrong about it. Watch a video of awkward & maybe you’ll learn to word your advice better.

So in other news, this player just needs to grind Pharah more lol. Why even go Widow when they can't hit more than 1/20 shots, and that 1 shot is like a feet shot. It's not the balance, it's matchmaking + people being stupid. Nobody pays attention to the overall game, they just want to play their preferred heroes. You might be putting out a lot of damage and elims, but if they're not moving the game in your favor then you're just wasting time and keeping your team split. I've had a few games this last week with teams that actually worked together and you couldn't blame any one individual for the wins. If you think everyone else is the problem, then you're the problem. Learn to counter what NEEDS to be countered, to help others on your team do what they gotta do. Hell, as sombra you can move the game for your team without firing a bullet in a lot of contexts, especially if people are watching your hacks/you're hacking the right people.

I pick Ana to heal Pharah when Mercy isn't optimal due to the presence of a Zen or Lucio. Pharah is trivial to hit as Ana. Though it looks to me like the entire team ignored this Pharah until they got a Mercy. Not that the extra support would have helped much, and maybe I'm expecting too much from silvers, but they should at least look at the Pharah every now and then.

Honestly, the amount of times a Phara in my teams just flies with half HP without pressing X once while above MY HEAD is insane. I don't have eyes there, tell me you need heal, there is a whole ass teamfight infront of me with the tank going in and I'm the only main heal, I don't have the time to look up. They can also ask for heals at any point. It's a process to learn if you're one of those players who rarely presses that button but if you press it and still get ignored then it's a support problem.

@@azseal2669 It's less so instantly a support problem and is a problem if they don't heal you at all, since there are times when a dps that is in a safe cover behind me is spamming X while our whole team is having a fight and I can't look away because if I miss one heal one of them dies. But I do agree that if they don't heal you multiple times then it's on the horrible support.

Yup, that def looks like some silver pharah if I've ever seen it, bare minimum mechanics, can't stay in air long enough to make plays as Pharah. Not to mention terrible game sense and awareness anytime someone says they deserve more than a few ranks above you know they're going to be ass or just bad in general. This lived up to that statement, it's when people say they deserve maybe a rank or two higher or don't say they deserve a higher rank but don't know whay they're stuck in their rank. That's when you know someone just needs a few minor adjustments and they would rank up so fast and they're actually not as bad as they think they are. I mean how do you not make hardly ANY plays when the only thing that is consistently shooting you or even at you is a torb turret is beyond me, especially when someone says they deserve higher. As Metro would say " it's not your team, you suck, get better" 🤣

@@DUSKvsDAWN super basic as i'm not a pharah main but tap instead of hold your space bar down for fuel? It makes it last longer, also try to use 'high ground' more often. When you touch the ground again, (because you will it's pharah) make sure you're still somewhere higher up or hidden, like stairs or balconies

As a plat player, he does not fit the rank. His main problem is lack o awareness. He doesn't pay attention to the situation (when he should attack or retreat), what the enemy is playing and how to counter, doesn't understand how phara works and how it needs to be played, general aim needs working but ain't the worst and doesn't understand how to play with the team. I say he should be at least silver, unless he improves those things

Because of questionable decisions at the core of this game’s balance, dps is a fundamentally pointless role. The only reason you run them is because you have to. Their job is either matched or outdone by nearly every tank and support, because the balance team has never once understood that that is a bad thing.

DPS is not pointless, it's just less meaningful on average than support. But in a game like this, it's not role that's holding anyone back, it's basic game knowledge and hero skill. In silver and bronze, role really means very little, individual heroes are what give passive bonuses (like deployables, ez hit weapons/heals, etc).

Tell it to the Genji player that wrecks the backline while keeping good LOS with an Ana and knows not to stay behind a shield of an enemy or behind walls from their supports too long. It's not that DPS doesn't have an impact... DPS needs to stop being babies that wait to be babysitted by supports, expecting a Mercy pocket sitting on their ass 24/7 while they don't pay attention to their backline or the LOS.

People call me a smurf in silver 5 because I have over 40 kills most games. I'm not smurfing, I'm getting these teammates, this guy can not seriously think he deserves plat if he can't even properly stay in the air with phara, he doesn't even seem to know she has a boop. Last game I played as a tank I had more dmg and kills than my two dps combined, and when I play dps (or even a high dps healer like Bap or Illari) I almost always do at least 1.5 times the damage they get when I play assasins and they play constant dmg dealers. The dps role is not the problem, is the fact that most of the shit players play that role for whatever reason and it's infuriating

depends on your playstyle, there are t500 pharahs that spend all their time in the air, but also t500 pharahs who play a more opportunistic style where you really don't fly a huge amount until you want to pounce on someone with conc blast. Also, spending all your time in the skybox is BORING af.

i mean at lower ranks i would say dps doesnt really have much impact on the game since many strong dps like hanzo sojourn and widow need aim which they mostly dont have

The damage role unironically does the least damage. No mercy or no ult combos you’re just spamming til you get a kill but mostly take cover since healers do more damage than you. Blizzard was afraid of making them heal bots and it can make healers more selfish, causing them throw (every Moira player). Also this isn’t really towards higher ranks since they actually play to win.
