Really the thing to do is disassemble all the salvage into ingots, which are even MORE dense. You can always reassemble them later (except prototech of course.)

But the ingots weigh more than the components. So you may overload your ship just by disassembling components into ingots.

@@danielkirpichnikov2007 It's not that the ingots weigh more; it's that they take up a lot less space for what they do weigh. They're much more dense in terms of mass to volume so while they CAN weigh your ship down more, in practice it means they'll simply require fewer cargo containers to haul the same quantity of material. If your ship lacks the thrust to carry a given quantity of ingots then it's not going to carry those same ingots in component form either.

@@therealbahamut still they weigh more, then the components and the block itself. Mass conservation isn't a thing in SE. So it may be more profitable to grab whole ship with you, jump to your grinder pit on your base and disassemble ship here.
