Reminders to vary retrieve speed, power and rod angle...very helpful Randy. Using only spinning tackle, it is most relevant to me.

I do a lot of river wading. I use a 7'6" rod to get distance. I understand a rod that long can move bottom bouncers to far when twitching. I have found if I hold the rod straight up, and even behind me, I can reduce the twitches to smaller movements. Of course I am at a disadvantage if I need to set the hook quickly but most of the time, I will have enough time to get the rod back down in position to set the hook. It works really well.

A $50 7'0 Med action rod with a $50-80 reel and 10lb mono will do the trick every time. A 6'0 to 6'6" for certain situations. I'm leaving for Canada in a couple of weeks for Walleye,Smallies and Pike. BPS Graphite Series 7'0 Med Action rods and Okuma reels, 20lb Power Pro braid,10-12 lb Stren are in my arsenal.

I am really interested in this ‘taco warehouse’ you speak of in the description. That would be a great affiliate addition. 😂

Randy usually uses a straight shank hook for his plastics, and I have taken his advice. What is a good use for EWG hooks? I have a bunch of them over the years, and I would like to know what would be the best way to use them

I love my Megabass P5 windbuster! It’s an amazing rod! I paired it with a Daiwa Exist 3000 with 8lb Fluoro. It’s a great set up

I have a Megabass Orochi. I love it. They also make excellent jerk baits. They are expensive, but worth it.

$500 for a spinning rod??? Never! You are buying a name. Don’t get me wrong….i would love a Magabass rod. I am just not paying that much for a rod. It’s gonna have to be a present or left to me by someone.

I've got two spinning rod and reels, and I've had a HUGE problem with my line knotting up ever since I put fluorocarbon on- Why??? I never had that problem with monofilament!!! What am I doing wrong???
@johnm26175 ай бұрын
Nothing wrong ! Fluorocarbon sucks on spinning reels ! It's like a spring come n off ! I tried tatsu supposedly the best ?? Still had issues ! Go back to mono < 😮 peace

load your spool the tie the end to a stable object...then walk cast a away and stretch your line out, almost to a point that you feel like it's going to break. Takes most of the memory out...works with mono as well. Good Luck!
@bobhochtritt26625 ай бұрын
I also run it through line conditioner when I spool it
@kurtdikkers76595 ай бұрын
Fresh untreated line will come off the reel spool in coils the size of the factory line spool. You want it coming off in coils the size of your reel spool. Either place the reel spool with line on it in 180° water for about 5 minutes or leave your reel in your car on a hot day. I use hot water. If the coils are too big for your reduction guides to take the coils out when you cast, you will have knots.

Since I have to purchase my rods a $500 price point is out.
@matthall83785 ай бұрын
Kastking rods and reels work great and if you get them on sale you can spend 50 -70 bux for a decent combo. I got 3 combos for less than that 1 rod. I even bought all my lures and baits and extra gear for under $500. My kayak was $299 even. You dont have to spend a fortune to fish. I take Randys advice on tactics and all that but if you can't afford Megabass then just get a cheaper brand option. I use big game for most of my rods and vanish flouro for the others. If I get line twist just respool as necessary. I still catch alot of fish. Just have fun and get what you can afford!

I would NEVER spend that kind of money on fishing rods… NEVER! Obviously Randy thinks all fishermen are in a high tax bracket… ugh! On the contrary, if I could buy a rod with Food Stamps I would!!!😂
