You're absolutely right. I've had the same experiences. Some well-known brands tend to totally exaggerate the price of certain items. I'm glad that some no-name brands are knocking off items and selling them at a more fair price. It teaches the brands that rip off their customers a valuable lesson.

Well, 2 for the price of 1, on what I would consider to be a better stove. The stoves themselves are for the most part, the same. But with the Campingmoon having the better case, being a muti-fuel and half the price, I can't help but say it's the better of the 2. Pete, you did an awesome job at finding this one!!

The PeleoHikerMD channel did a comprehensive performance review of the two stoves more than a year ago. The wind master come out on top in terms of heating time and fuel usage, especially in windier conditions. Camping Moon stove is great value though!
@bigstick52788 ай бұрын
Watched that review. Funny the campingmoon knocked my Soto out of my gear bag.. I found the boil time comes closer to neck N neck and in some cases with the Campingmoon beating the SOTO somewhat better. So many factors involved with boil time reviews it's a matter of how close you can replicate the atmospheric conditions, temps and other conditions. I live above 8180 feet and things are different at say 2000 feet even with a regulator.. What's three to five seconds really? I like the igniter on the Campingmoon, I've had some issues with my Windmaster Igniter when it was damp out. I own three for different pack outing situations, like for the price of the SOTO another $12.00 gets you three of these.. My in home test stove has been going strong for almost close to over a year and a half (Actually lost track of time) making breakfast every morning and a cup of tea every night.. And nothing has failed. As far as different fuels go, I've attached this to Propane ( Lots of pressure comes out of those green canisters but works great and a faster boil time due to the higher pressure output. I actually may stop using Propane as it may cause some damage to the regulator due to the higher pressure output, it was just a test ayway. I refill my used Isobutane canisters with straight Butane if I'm camping in warmer weather, Isobutane in colder weather. And It still gives me a boil time as like the Isobutane, but the canister does get cold faster with straight Butane. Luckily the Regulator keeps this in check. I've stuck this in my freezer attached to a refill canister of Butane for two days and although the igniter took a few extra clicks it fired up with a small bit of predictable chugging of the flame but once the stove itself started warming up it was going strong. I will use no other stove for Solo outings.. As with the SOTO they both consume a little bit extra fuel, that's the price you pay for speed.

I am kinda surprised that you have come across this stove now and not earlier. Almost exactly 1 year ago I was considering buying Soto Windmaster (based also upon your review). But I really was not able to buy it (here in Czech Republic / Europe) for 70 USD (in some shop or e-shop etc.). Usually the price was 85 USD with shipping. As I did not know how often I will use the stove (could be not so often) I did not want to spend so much money and looked for some alternatives. I found Campingmoon XD-F2 which was much cheaper. But I had an ethical dilemma (to buy Japanese original or Chinese knock-off)... If I would be able to buy Soto for 70 USD I would buy it, but eventually I bought Campingmoon. Until today it works without any issue. I would also appreciate a little bit more tension with adjuster. It is hard to set the stove to "simmer mode" - not only because the adjuster but also because on low setting I never know if the stove is still working (flame burning) or not. So I have to adjust a little bit more flame/volume and even with this low setting it heats the pot significantly and I have to stir the meal constantly (would be no problem if boiling only water).
@bigstick52782 ай бұрын
Not much of a simmer stove, but indoors it can be done. Issue is it roars then try to simmer you could have turned it off and you wouldn't know it it's so quiet. I'm trying to figure out how to make a heat buffer to simmer while maintaining a good flame. Like two soup can lids stacked with spacers between them to cool off the upper tin.

Nice to hear it performs so well. Might need to get a 2nd one. I was not especially happy with some of the micro stoves I have as I usually cook and not just boil water. Was looking for something with a bit bigger burner surface and stronger pot supports but still in a compact size, especially against the Coleman one I already have. Found this one and grabbed it. Was surprised at the design and thought it would be smaller, but build seemed pretty good. Not flimsy like a lot of the micro stoves. Haven't tried it out yet but glad to hear the speed of heating probably offsets the slightly larger size. And that case is definitely nice.

Nice little thing, sure among the top in the list of fast boiling 10.000 btu gas stoves, and concerning the price/performance ratio most probably even in the top 3 or so. Yet, I'm waiting for your further experience. Boiling water is surely the main reason for most people nowadays to have such a stove, means they all boil water for preparing a coffee or a dehydrated meal, and that's it. And if a stove boils a cup of water 30 seconds faster than another stove of the same kind, then go for it. Of course I do also like my coffee out there, no doubt I do also boil water. But whether that takes 2 minutes or 6 minutes doesn't matter at all for me, as I am usually not spending my time sitting in front of the cup and waiting for some water to boil, even though that can be also sometimes a nice experience. But my main stove use is for cooking purposes, on trails and on travels. And there is some reason why even simple 3.500 btu alcohol stoves like a Trangia come with a way to reduce the flame - even that relatively low amount of maximum heat is usually too much for most cooking purposes. Except for boiling water, You need usually much less heat and have to simmer a lot, whether you prepare pasta or rice or some eggs or stews and so on. So I'm waiting for experiences, how good this stove is for such cooking, how easy it can be put on low flame and whether it keeps it and so on. And finally I would also like to know how loud it is on low flame - I know already from watching this video, that one cannot use this thing full speed during stealth camping/cooking, as that sound reaches out for at least one mile or so. You would awake the whole campground when you prepare your breakfast at 4:30 am and if you would use it in a hotel room, the staff would immediately come running to see what you are doing there inside ... ;-)

Isn't it funny, we go into the wilderness to get away from all the hectic crap in the real world, to sit and relax and absorb nature.. Then get all antsy because that damn cup of water is taking to long to boil!!🤣 Instant gratification is unhealthy.
