You say that as if people would somehow automatically stand to have as much of a reason to dislike Nami and Robin as they do Sanji, but just happen to find the first two hot and not so with the third, which isn't exactly a sort of attitude I could personally attest to. I mean what can I say? I happen to find a semi-creepy doormat signifigantly harder to put up with as a character, than someone prone to being easily irritable, or someone who's just bit of a wallflower. Not only does losing Jinbei have you losing a lot of fighting power, but youre losing someone who is extremely useful and versitile while in water, which is important when having devil fruit users in your crew, but also when youre out adventuring with friends and saving people which both includes devil fruit users. Yes there are several others in the crew who can swim and serve that role as well. But not to the extent that Jinbei can. And the man has connections everywhere, dude knows everyone lol.

Especially over Usopp. I can understand wanting to out him higher because he was one of the original crew. But Jinbei is just sooooo much more useful, especially when it comes to helping with a serious enemy. I could make an argument for Jinbei being higher up than Franky and Chopper. But I can also make the case for them being above him. So there I can see either side. But with Usopp? Yeah no way, Jinbei is so much more useful and helpful than he is.

Robin being in the place she is really does make a lot of sense. She's got key knowledge that only she has to get the crew to laugh tale, she has new found battle strength with her demonic form, she has a chill laid back personality which definitely wouldn't put her at the extreme ends of people their character tier lists and to top it off she has a lot of the simps on her side. She's got all of the good criteria which people base the characters off.

Robin being the last crewmate makes since because after Luffy disbands the group and everyone is fulfilling their own dreams and destinies, she as an archeologist would be able to would continue to piece the past with the present and reveal secrets and hidden information related to how Luffy was in fact Joyboy and Nika. Luffy would probably be the first to die as well because of all that stress from the gear shifting. Chopper would make a formula for her to extend her lifespan and she would record and tell the story of One Piece and all the missing lost knowledge.

I always felt that Jinbei had his toast and party. We technically had a whole week of recovery after Kaidos defeat. Due to real life time mismanagement he was off-screened as so many other thing in Wano. I have my own fanfic filler that would be hilarious if Toei would animate it, but the page where the master chef panel supposed to be Jinbeis welcome party, but everyone got bored by the masters long preparation except our Knight of the sea. And he is the member who is near impossible to offend and just had a great laugh alone. :D

I feel like early one piece established an idea that a new crew member means a new main character, and each new member of the crew always has a lot of fun mystery and promise, but it feels that increasingly in the story, many of the strawhats wind up taking a backseat, probably a narrative necessity since each arc introduces so many new characters, but not regularly seeing each crew member in action often feels like a broken promise, it also feels like there’s much less crew interaction post time skip, so there’s less opportunities to properly appreciate the nuances of the crews dynamic

The raid would have failed before it started without him ensuring the sneak attack.

I love how this list of opinions makes me feel about the One Piece and Oda’s way of portraying characters. Strength is relevant but Oda believes in story telling that’s more than a punching match or a pissing contest. In Oda’s narrative, strength is nuanced. Every character has a role to play and their strength is shown in significance of their true nature in the story itself. A sword cannot do a needle’s job: the best teams have a precise formula of every member’s set of skills for collective success.

Usopp is my favorite straw hat. Frick you, fight me. I feel like a lot of hardcore shonen fans tend to gravitate towards the strongest fighty-punch boy, and so someone who is practically a non-combatant like Usopp just feels like dead weight to their simple brains, but Usopp adds so much flavorful chaos and fun to the series as a whole. His absurd stories, his goofy personality, the juxtaposition between his cool manliness and overwhelming cowardliness, the ridiculous antics he gets himself into, and the fact that everything he says comes true in glorious fashion. He's irreplaceable. Plus, he's an underdog. It's BECAUSE he's not the super strongest fighty-punch boy that makes even simple victories feel so much more earned. Because unlike someone like Zoro, Sanji or Luffy, his victories don't feel like an absolute guarantee, and he has to pull them off with his wits and not his fists.

I mean, one can argue the entirety of Post TS, from FI to Wano, is a giant story arc for Sanji, displaying his lowest fall (FI), to his recalibration (PH), to his return to form (DR and Zou), to his revelation/redemption (WCI), to his growth/acceptance (Wano). "Zoro, because he doesn't have a job on the crew". Luffy's job is the same though. Robin's value on any other crew if she wasn't the only person who could read ancient text would be zero though. The plot relevance of her being the only person who can read ancient text and that ancient text being the only way to get to the ancient treasure is kind of contrived, even if I like it. She's my second favorite. Jimbei and Brooke are the most replaceable, and I guess Usopp in terms of jobs is probably the least needed. He's a good sniper but post-timeskip that's been a benefit in one arc. Everyone else serves a strong role and purpose. And for any "Zoro doesn't have a job" people out there, Luffy's captainhood and strongest member = Vice captain and second strongest. One could ask why Usopp is on the crew if "sniper" is more relevant than either of those double jobbed people.

I remember someone describing how they hated Mr Satan as a kid but when they grew up he was one of their favorite characters. I feel like Usopp is in a similar boat. The ideal of the archetype would probably be Reigen from Mob Psycho, who regularly demonstrates the idea that a somewhat cowardly character can have value outside of a head on fight. I'd argue Usopp does that too, but he really hasn't had a chance too ever since Wano started.

I would've chosen Chopper because he's functionally irrelevant. Manga characters heal as fast or as slow as they need as dictated by the author, and in One Piece, HAVE done that even from before Chopper joined the crew. And so having him on board is the most useless of all the roles simply because it wasn't needed. And the stuff like Queen being able to pump out a virus was so secondary to him and his fight that it felt like it was just a throwaway to give Chopper something to do while everyone else actually mattered.

@@monster-dk7dy But then... it could've just been wrote very slightly differently since manga characters heal at whatever rate the author needs them to, to do what the plot dictates. Of course extrapolating from that you could say every crew member is useless, but at the very least healing in shonen manga isn't something that's given too much thought - as a recent example; Luffy came back from the brink of death like 5 times against Kaido during the full fight without so much as a bandage from Chopper. He was as durable as the story needed him to be, and recovered as fast as the story needed him to recover.

I love Sanji unapologetically. He be breakdancing on his foes while dripped out of his mind. Yeah the whole simp thing killed me for a bit especially just after post time skip but i love his well fleshed out story and his character development. Theres just too much good I see in him and any time I see him bust out the flames gets me on a whole new level of hype. I just love the dude, I can relate to and understand his story. He's been my favorite strawhat for a long time and it was solidified through his amazing performance in Water7 Little Garden and many other crucial points. I dont think there is anything Oda could do to make me dislike the guy lmao. At this point ive been through enough of an emotional rollercoaster with his character that I couldn't jump ship even if it crashed and burned. Point is I love Sanji if you didnt get that by now lmao. If I remember correctly I dont think I voted on that poll because I genuinely couldnt think of someone to get rid of. I love all of the strawhats dearly, but I may have voted Jimbei because in my critical thinking he was the last to join, and his role for the most part was unnecessary throughout most of the series because well they made it so far without him being the helmsman. Zoro seems the logical choice. His dream does not require a crew and he does not have a job neccesary to reach Laugh Tale. I think Robin, Nami, Franky and Jimbei are vital for reaching Laugh Tale, Brook might be as well since Bink's sake might be a code to enter just like a certain One Piece game. His role as vice captain in the story so far is correcting Luffy which he does well, the one time he actually was in charge of the ship he would have killed the whole crew if Nami did not intervene. (On the way from Little Garden to Drum island)

If Zoro weren't there at Whiskey Peak several straw hats could have died. Also, Zoro would never leave the crew because he swore an oath that he would follow Luffy to the ends of the Earth. He's the First Mate for a reason. There's nothing anyone can do or say to convince him to leave. He has stated numerous times he would give up his own dream before ever giving up on Luffy. And he is necessary for the crew. When Luffy's not available, Zoro represents a good 50% of the strawhats' combat power. Roles like navigator, cook, entertainer or poneglyph translator are useless if none of them survive the trip.

Usopp will probably end up dying on Elfab, it's somewhat been foreshadowed up to this point. 1) During the Wano arc, Usopp's fear of death and torture is highly played up. 2) We just saw an execution, leading the question of who would be next 3) Usopp left the Straw Hats once for his convictions, he was willing to die then, he'll do it for the crew now. 4) "When do people die? ... when they are forgotten", Usopp would be the last to die following this ideology because of his tall tales. 5) How does every fable end? A fable always ends with a moral lesson. Usopp's story for a full arc should end there.

I voted for Usopp. I think if he hadn’t rejoined after Enies Lobby, that would’ve been fine, perhaps even a good symbol for how much higher the stakes were going to be moving forward, because just like the Thousand Sunny replaced the Going Merry, Franky makes Usopp obsolete. Everything Usopp does, Franky does better. He’s a superior fighter at all ranges except super extra long (and even then, his massively powerful explosives can make up for the decrease in accuracy and he can deploy more impactful attacks much faster) and he’s a vastly superior craftsman. As for Usopp’s Comedic value, Nami and Chopper do the same cowardly bits as Usopp, and Luffy, Brooke, and Chopper do the idiot bit, whereas Franky brings a wholly unique comedic styling to the group. Since Franky joined the crew, they’ve only specifically needed Usopp twice, against Perona and Sugar, and both scenarios were so contrived as to force Usopp to be relevant (Like, Luffy I get, but how was Law about to fall for Sugar’s act? Even if he doesn’t know who Sugar is specifically, she’s a bizarrely dressed little girl walking out of Doflamingo’s lair, completely calm in the middle of a war zone. Bro is smart enough to know he should keep his distance.)

robin is one of my favourits, because she is one of a few strawhats that is acctualy somewhat down to earth i guess you could call it. you can see it in her interaction with jimbei. if the stawhats was a family i would think robin would either be the oldest sister in the family or the mother. another reason is that she is realy interested in archaeology and history and i like those topics myself.
