It would be super cool to see application rennovation students on mission accepted afterwards

As of the 2023 cycle, AMCAS does force you to separate your completed and anticipated hours

The new application for AMCAS makes you now split up your hours into completed and expected

Wow that is so annoying. I would just consider it as what have you done so far and what will your hours be if you continued until the first week of Aug. Does that make sense?

In another video Dr. Gray said he is looking for students who want to change the world, but now he is saying that medical schools are "not looking for the 'x factor.'" Which is it Dr. Gray? There is a lot of conflicting information in these videos...

Dr Gray also says to quantify your activities with numbers but then when a student says they helped teach x number of students, Dr Gray says don’t include numbers, which is it?

You can't change the world without the training and networking medical school affords you.

Regarding the dual-enrollment stuff, it seems that AMCAS leaves it up to the applicant to decide. From the latest 2024 AMCAS applicant guide: "If you have a significant number of AP or college-level coursework credits before entering college, you may list your entire first college year as FR status. In doing so, you will most likely exceed the guideline of 0 through 35 semester hours for freshman year, but your AMCAS GPAs will reflect your “true” first year in college; in these cases, the AMCAS program will not change your academic status. However, if you’d rather base your academic statuses on credit hours only, your application will be accepted and verified according to the year-in-school guidelines."

I'd take being seen as a puzzle as long as they can figure out what's wrong with me. That means they're determined to figure out what's wrong with me and if they dehumanize me a little bit in exchange for figuring out what condition has been plaguing me for months, possibly years, I'm all for it.

hi! Can someone pls explain where she's lacking hours in the activities section? She has 650+ research hours, many scribe hours, 90+ shadowing, and clinical and nonclinical volunteering add up to 1000 hours? Like how's she lagging the hours??

@@littlemuslimmasters Some places might not consider scribing "medical" because you're not usually directly interacting with patients might be part of it. Rest seems great though. I don't know though

@@ericshaker9377 oh, ok, quick question: So if someone doesn't have time to become a scribe, Phlebotomist, or EMT, how to get "patient interaction"? (HAVING 70 HRS of shadowing and 70 hrs of (hospital volunteer) only what else to do?)
@ericshaker9377
@ericshaker9377 Жыл бұрын
@@littlemuslimmasters Hospital volunteering sounds best. To me. Hospice care where youre interacting with patients. The best way I personally know is through EMT and being a patient care tech at your local hospital. You could get paid, you directly can treat patients with minor things, and you build so many valuable skills and are in a great environment. Just my 2 cents

It's because her substantial clinical experience as a scribe didn't start until right before the application cycle. This also has the effect of making it harder to write an effective personal statement if you don't have concrete clinical experiences to draw on when you're trying to explain your motivations for medicine.

Its amazing ain't it? Even with a great GPA, MCAT, and good stories, she STILL didn't get in. AAMC and American medical academics are a joke!

seemed to me like good gpa, decent enough mcat, not bad activities, mediocre personal statement, limiting school list

Decent but not great GPA and MCAT, OK experiences, and did not go wide enough with the school list. Nothing really “great” about this application.

Actually compared to matriculants, she showed up with a below average* GPA, an average* MCAT, and a lack of patient care/volunteering experience. Don't get me wrong, her writing is beautiful, but I can definitely see why programs were hesitant to invite her in for an interview.
@trevorerb7709
@trevorerb7709 Жыл бұрын
@@innocencedirector Honestly compared to some of the other applicants I have seen on his videos, she has a very solid application, the only 2 things that I think probably hurt her the most were her GPA and her secondaries, I think with the application she had and some stronger secondaries would have landed her at least an interview or 2 instate
