The Check button isn't exactly the most exciting tool in your cash game poker inventory, but knowing when and why to check can increase your EV dramatically. In this video we learn where NOT betting can yield a higher EV.

I’m the student in question, for anyone who’s wandering what site I’m playing it’s the Italian PS, defo softer than normal PS. Still it has been an unreal month and I got lucky right left and center. I definitely say tho that Grade E and 1 to 1 sessions with Pete have helped immensely and I strongly recommend those. A decent portion of the profit of this period has come from bluffcatching vs aggro 200/500nl regs and that’s where Grade E and MDA have played a huge role. Thanks again Pete for sharing this!

I was thinking about dropping some fat cash on the bulk of Pete's courses as I've been a hardstuck 50NL player for a while now, provided I do take on all of the information in the course properly, is there somewhat of an expectation that I eventually will be able to level up to 100NL, 200NL and have a consistent win rate? If his courses are as good as everyone says, I might have to buy them all and take the punt

Limitless had a hand that was VERY similar to villain's spot in the 55 hand, where he made trips on the river and then block bet it, the other guy (who had a flush) bet big, and Limitless 4x jammed over it as a bluff. It got through, too. Absolute legend.

I liked how you talked about betting bigger even that people always talk about not betting big because they say "we won't get called if we do that". Even that when you do get called for your big bets you make up for the times your villains fold. I mean Dan Harrington's book talked about this too and that book was wrote like 20 years ago.

For the ATss hand, would it be reasonable to assume at the microstakes (5nl, 10nl) that many players could be making a mistake here and "value betting" with a lot of AK combos? I am sure I have seen AK show up in spots like this quite often. It might not be enough to swing the decision all the way but I figure I would need to take things like that into account if I have reason to believe it is likely.
@tassv5909
@tassv5909 3 ай бұрын
i think not. AK does have to worry about AQ AT and the straight. so maybe 2 combos of AK due to the mistake you outlined but not all combos whereas all the value hands will find the bet. hence fold is still correct

What about option C - oponent is merging with some kx eg kq,kj and its enough for winning the required odds (you need to win roughly 17% for it to be a winning call). You are going to lose a ton, but vs some players it can be slightly winning - like 20-25% sounds reasonable for the weird merge

I see so many poker graphs that have a great blue line but a terrible or mediocre red line but my graph is the opposite. My redline is crushing and my blue is negative. Could you make a video about that?
@morfos95
@morfos95 3 ай бұрын
What exactly do you expect from a video from that? This just means you are very aggressive and bluff a lot, you lose when you get called which is why your blue line goes down. If you make money then keep at it, if you are breaking even or losing then stop trying to bluff calling stations, and villains that are capable of hero calling.
@dxfifa
@dxfifa 3 ай бұрын
Is your green line above the rake? Then keep doing it, just be more aware of your bet patterns. You aren't getting paid enough on your value hands. And are getting called down when you're losing. My guess is you're too aggressive with your betting in large sizings without properly reading ranges, so everyone is overfolding but when you get called down they are so strong you either get caught bluffing or feel like you're coolered a lot. In this case a lot of your value is folding out weaker value too. But the other way could be that you make massive bluffs to try and win pots you have no right to, but bet a lot smaller to make sure you're called when you have value, and you're leaving a lot on the table with value hands

Nice video again witchy carrot!!! Keep up the good work. That 55 hand is really weird. I dont see any logical values hands (most people/regs are value betteing AA,KK, AK, K5, K6. Also bluffing is realy counter intiutive versus overbet (almost nobody besides this lion is folding). What are his blufs?? A5s/A6s/Ax. So I think villain does have 0 combo's and I am rejecting this situation. But if I have to choose I think this situation is overbluft because some regs think. Oh ther is an A and two KK and i do have all the AK, KK and AA (which he should not have too often)

Landing range isn't bad I think people are bitching because it's all a range as in a combination of hands whether it's the range you arrive with or the range you check with or the range you bet with etc. it's still a combination of hands e.g. a range. I don't mind descriptive adjectives people are just being bitches.

Hey Pete, question: I know you’re not a fan of live play, but you haven’t touched on the fact that the overall skill level of a 2/5 table is likely lower than 200nl, but the sheer profitability is magnitudes higher. An 8k upswing at 2/5 isn’t irregular at all, happens a lot over just a 2 week period. You say 20 buyin downswings happen a lot online…never once happened to me live, not even close. You say breakeven over 50k hands happens, never happened to me live over 2yrs, not even close, I’d probly quit if I was somehow breakeven over 20k hands. I’ve never even had a down month live…considering these factors how is online even close to live if all you care about is the money??!!
