@Dtr1463 жыл бұрын
@@viktorgabriel2554 what you need to understand is that it does. If a company knows that they will get sued for whatever the content creators on their platform post. What's the first thing they're going to do when a content creator crosses the line? They're not going to get drug through the mud over one person. They're going to wipe them off the platform to avoid a lawsuit. So if you post something that somebody once the first shade at and it actually goes somewhere. You can get wiped off the platform. Here's an excerpt of this link I'm about to drop on you. Section 230 says that "No provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be treated as the publisher or speaker of any information provided by another information content provider" (47 U.S.C. § 230). In other words, online intermediaries that host or republish speech are protected against a range of laws that might otherwise be used to hold them legally responsible for what others say and do. The protected intermediaries include not only regular Internet Service Providers (ISPs), but also a range of "interactive computer service providers," including basically any online service that publishes third-party content. Though there are important exceptions for certain criminal and intellectual property-based claims, CDA 230 creates a broad protection that has allowed innovation and free speech online to flourish. www.eff.org/issues/cda230 now if you read down this far I congratulate you because you actually give a shit. The freedom of speech for content creators relies on the fact that the platform that they express ourselves on holds no liability if we want to go and speak our minds whether it be a good opinion or not.
@Dtr1463 жыл бұрын
@@viktorgabriel2554 this section protects big corporate companies from what the little person says on their platform. The only way they can stop piracy is to get rid of the internet... It doesn't work like that. Also in the UK there are many ISP's they don't give a fuck about piracy, I've never used a VPN they do not care, because there is a lot of competition in the UK for ISP/Telephone TV providers they know if they send a letter you'll just leave after the contract is over & use a different service. The real issue here is that if torrenting becomes mainstream, studios won't be able to make any money. Now, if you paid for a legitimate copy, I think you should be able to make a digital copy with Handbrake and/or MakeMKV and then have that on your devices. That's different because you're not giving copies. But this new law is about torrenting movies and games, where people are getting copies that they didn't pay for.
@mrglibb3 жыл бұрын
@@snackman94 That's utter nonsense though because people like Pewdiepie release their content absolutely free and make millions. That's how bullshit laws like this work; look at the war on Drugs, high profile cases get media attention to highlight people being arrested, and to lecture you on doing illegal substances; meanwhile you can walk down the street of any major city and see about 10 nearly OD'ed bums, crack pipes, needles, and other drug paraphernalia; and not a cop in sight to give a flying fuck.

Eastern European here. I've pirated every single proprietary program I've used and every piece of media I've consumed over the years unless they were distributed for free to begin with. No US or other Western company ever came after me with a cease and desist letter, neither Interpol nor Europol kicked down my door and my ISP didn't throttle my downloads either. I can confirm that what Muta says is true, this law won't stop anything because the majority of piracy-related websites are hosted outside the US sphere of influence, or they're hosted in Sweden where the supreme court ruled that hosting torrent files is not the same as hosting the actual data on your server and is therefor legal. We are creating a mediacracy where who gets to live or who goes to jail is determined by large entertainment and media conglomerates and not by an independent judiciary, jury or a fairly elected democracy. Guys you heard it here first, this is the real dystopia.

It won't be enforced, overpopulation in prison was already a problem and you can't arrest 90% of people using internet or the ones that accidently end using copyrighted music (i.e people getting rickrolled in a stream), don't forget about the people that have a lot of free time and hatred that will harass the fuck of the people trying to enforce this...
