This technique is called "Strong Siding" and has been around since early Halo.

In fairness to the Sprint + Look Down, it does appear there is at least a little more lateral (side to side) head movement which might make your head at least a tiny bit harder to hit than just a Sprint + Look forward. Good video! Thanks for all this useful info!!

Which also works if you are at mid to far range to do a slight zigzag while looking down.

The older players take for granted these learned behaviors and forget to pass down the knowledge. Your videos are helping raise the standard of the newer competive players, it helps all of us in the end (high Ds-low onyx are still very inconsistent). Thank you, keep it up! You'd think 343 would show short tutorials for these micro strategies in the academy. Hopefully forge will have some way to highlight these concepts by mapping them to bots for players to fully understand the importance.

Someone told me it doesn’t change your head height at all recently so I’ve stopped strongsiding, but if you could post a test video of someone shooting you as you run away to see if it actually is blocked by shoulders that would be sick

I remember putting br rounds in a guys back up at his head and couldnt kill him. Couldnt get the headshot and this might have been why. Or desync lol

Actually tbh I see some high end players do the duck and sprint. Especially in tactical slayer it is a pain to try and get a head shot from the back and hit the armor plates instead

Curious does switching helmets make the hit box bigger also? I've noticed that the two helmets you can unlock seem larger than the one you start with!

@@Dylanbforthree Yeah, I'm sure it doesn't. Still, a bigger helmet can make the enemy player *feel* like the head is bigger, which can be helpful to them even on a unconscious level.

It's kinda weird. Players at a slightly higher level can typically maneuver a map with their eyes closed... Literally! So looking down (Strong Siding) isn't really an issue for them.
