The BEST video on this particular technique!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know, because I’ve been on the lookout for a great while now on the how, why, where, etc. Thanks, Mikey, you’re the best!!!!

Popping the rod throws a lot of vibration through the water because of the line that's in the water. Quick reel is the sauce 😎
@fishncoach86993 ай бұрын
Man I was about to say you're crazy bc the line is always in the water... But you could be right when the line changes paths
@pennysgarage3 ай бұрын
@@fishncoach8699 when the line moves from slack to tight quickly, I'd bet it sends an odd wave or vibration through the water. The fish definitely feel that. Maybe popping from a tighter line may not disturb them so much.
@fishncoach86993 ай бұрын
In thinking it's more the line being pulled horizontally through the water column. Same reason chatterbaits and rattle traps work.

I do the same thing with a trick worm, Texas rigged! It works well as long as there is multiple fish when it drops by them.

I've played around with a mag ned, a finesse jig, and big jig on Toledo Bend and Sam Rayburn. It's definitely a numbers game but watching them run it down on livescope is freakin fun. Great video as always keepem coming brother!!!

It's crazy how they will chase that thing down to the bottom like a rocket!

How deep is the water in these situations and how deep are the bass suspended? I recently got ffs on my kayak and I need some pointers 😂. I’ve only caught one fish using it out of like 6 times out but I don’t know what I’m looking for exactly and I’m also just so like entranced I just keep pedaling around and like tossing at underwater structure I didn’t know existed just to get excited when little blobs are curious and follow it 😂
@DanielBoone3372 ай бұрын
@Radican1 throwing these baits like this 15 maybe 20 ft is about the deepest water I'll target them much deeper then that it seems like largemouth tend to lose interest before they run it down. I generally target fish in that 5 to about 15ft but if they're out there over really deep water I go to a minnow and jighead along with a few different jerkbaits.

I stroke a Tokyo rig through grass in dirty water and it gets them fired up. Im usually using a junebug zoom magnum finesse worm.

I've got a theory on why popping it up with the rod tip doesn't work. I think they can feel the sound/vibration generated down the line from the rod tip, and since everyone has been doing that forever they can tell something ain't right, but when you reel it like you explained, you won't get the vibrations traveling down the line. Just a theory, but makes sense to me.

Basically old school stroking technique but reeling instead of rod movement...just add new technology...FFS... Did this with 4"and 5" grubs on a ball head back in the 80's...just didn't have the Live screen to watch the fish react...
@russb2963 ай бұрын
Old school you would just locate the fish with 2D and then throw marker buoys out...
