This reminds me of stories my mom has told me about her grandma, whom I didn’t get to meet because she unfortunately passed before I was born. Grandma grew up without electricity let alone tv so she didn’t quite understand the concept of acting. So she would watch the Mexican telenovelas and as per usual, there would be a cliffhanger on the Friday episode to get you hyped for the resolution on Monday. Poor grandma believed it was real, so she would agonize over the cliffhanger all weekend. One in particular that my mom remembers is that grandma’s favorite character was stranded in the ocean for a Friday cliffhanger, the whole weekend she was telling the family that they needed to go save him. So cute and funny, but it really goes to show that some people are very gullible. Try as they may to explain to her that it wasn’t real she would argue that they were trying to fool her hahaha I love her even though I didn’t get to meet her.

ok so 1. mad props to you saji, great content. it is nearly 6 am here and i've been binging your content for at least seven hours, you're the goat. also you're beautiful. 2.i just wanna give my two cents on the "catching a fish" portion. obviously the fish is dead, looks fresh outta the store, and this is the fakest part (in addition to the unscathed phone, the lack of physical evidence such as sunburn to prove he's been stranded for a while, the pristine editing, etc.). but to add to that, he is pretending to have caught some kind of flatfish, likely flounder. flounder live in sediment on the seafloor, which is why they look so weird; they lie on one side and one of their eyes migrates as they age to the side of their body facing towards the sky, in order to see predator and prey while hidden. now, our boy maddzack claims the water is anywhere from 100-200 feet deep. so, the idea that he would go out of his way to swim alllll the way to the seafloor, locate a flounder, grab it and resurface, with absolutely no diving equipment, no experience, and the face of a spoiled rich kid... is hilariously stupid. like if he wanted to make it remotely believable, there are other fish and invertebrates in the ocean someone could have more easily caught, though still with some difficulty. but nah fuck that people are gullible

Aren’t life jackets technically only water-resistant too? Like after several hours, it’s not buoyant anymore…
@evil9932 жыл бұрын
No. If it is inflatable, which his is not, it will float forever basically. It's made out of closed cell foam which traps air in little pockets all throughout the material. The foam is sealed with various plastics, and even if were breached, the fact that it's closed cell foam means that water will not permeate the foam, and air will still be there inside.
@MicroMeowz2 жыл бұрын
@@evil993 ah gotcha. Didn’t know that! It makes sense that there are life vests that are watertight, but his looks like ones that I have owned that have very explicit notes on the tags that they will not float after a certain amount of water exposure.
@evil9932 жыл бұрын
@@MicroMeowz there's a type of life jacket that's not sold this way, but used the following way: Technically passes as a "life preserver" according to the law, cheap, and can be purchased in bulk to fulfill requirements of the law. Think like, a guy who owns a small boat and buys the exact amount required by law and stuffs them in a compartment somewhere on the boat so they're technically in compliance. Those type of life jackets I'd say typically are like how you described. But most life jackets of what I would consider a regular/decent quality should basically float forever. Since he's wearing one that looks like it cost more than $5 lol, I'd assume it's of decent quality. From my experience it's usually those tiny bright orange ones that go around the neck that suck the most and wouldn't work for extended durations.

But then, where are you putting it while you go faff about with shop-bought dead fish? If there’s a current, it would float away while you’re down there. Also, it’s very clearly fake. the real question: who lit a cloud of gas on fire and thought "this is a good name for mental manipulation :)"
@randomtree56712 жыл бұрын
The Take actually has a video about this. The name originates from a play named the same i believe. in the play/movie a husband manipulated he’s wife about being crazy and the gaslights have something to do with it i guess
@RegularBeams2 жыл бұрын
@randomtree The husband actually kept dimming the lights and when his wife brought it up the husband insisted that she's imagining it. Every time he would dim the lights the wife asked the husband if he notices it too be the husband just was like tf u talkin about the lights are fine, and slowly the wife started to doubt herself and what she used to be convinced was reality. The husband did this to be able to commit her to a mental hospital because she's gone insane, and then steal her money (Y) Edit: this term has become quite popular these days among people who misuse it. It's important that gaslighting isnt the same as lying, it's manipulating people and circumstances in a way that they themselves come to the conclusion that what they believed is actually wrong or fake or untrue.

That’s a flounder and they hang out in the sand of the sea floor. He can dive that deep but can’t swim somewhere else?

it’s just weird that he’s trying so hard to make people think that he’s stranded. like why is that his goal 😭

What I’m disappointed in is that he didn’t say that he was just drinking the seawater, but in a ‘are you for real? It’s that obvious’ kinda way, since everyone that isn’t a kid already knows it’s clearly fake, he should just be more absurd for the meme
