I remember when I got my first light meter. I had had camera's in the nineties as a kid. But mid 2010's I got a digital Nikon D5200. After studying abroad for a bit in Australia, I got a Mamiya m645 1000s from my grandfather that used to work for Kodak in the Netherlands. And with it came a Gossen Sixtar. It took me awhile to get used to it. Learned to read the light from it and my later sekonic to the point of not using any lightmeter anymore for just general day to day photography. Only carry around a Sekonic spotmeter for when I want tometer for portraits and/or using the zone system.

You actually sold me on the AH-M1 (in your earlier video) although I can see why you might prefer the XH-2 with your brilliant lanyard hack! But the protruding XH-2 light meter would definitely be a royal pain used on my Nikkormat FTn & Pentax Spotmatic (plus a dozen other 35mm SLRs I will use it with). In fact I had to order accessory cold shoes for both the Spotmatic & Nikkormat so I can actually use the AstrHori as God intended. I am not sure I would call the XH-2 an "upgrade" perhaps "sidegrade" would be a better term? The XH-2 is, as you say, the same sensor with a smaller battery. Nice work mate!

It was one of my favorite cameras, Pentacon Six. Too bad mine is broken, managed to fix problems with shutter curtains (curtain dampers were too dry causing curtain rotation to not to be not full and edges of the curtains were visible in the photos as bars in the edges of the photos) Now shutter works like a charm, but for some reason film transport started slipping. Few first photos are ok, but then transport starts to slip, i can even feel it while cocking the shutter...
@ShootFilmLikeaBoss3 ай бұрын
Well done for fixing the curtain! I wish I could fix cameras. I try on broken ones but without luck! The earlier ones were prone for slipping. They then introduced a 'teeth' reel in the camera which helped the film advance stopping the overlapping. Good luck with it, I hope you get it fixed.

Hmmh. Got mine 2 weeks ago. After fumbling a while around to set the ISO (user manual not very helpful) I went off with my Fujica 690 and this thing on the cold shoe. "Of course" the metering was all over the place. 30° angle of view? Perhaps. But one cannot see it like in a spot meter. And apparently no average metering, it jumps from 1/40 to 1/250 with a slight movement. The metering in itself seems to be ok (checked with pointing to the ground and to the sky, neither of them I wanted to take a picture of), but effectively it is not usable for me. Perhaps this is what is possible in such a tiny light meter (but then the light meter of my Rollei 35 is tiny, too, and doesn't jump around -- analogue photography = analogue light meter?). Not expensive, but still a waste of money for me.
