Nice vid, thanks. After I dropped my LX7 (cmos) from my balcony (whoops) I was lucky to find an LX5 (ccd) at a good price locally. It's basically the same as your LX1 and the LX3 in between, the same format switching and so on but with an ever so slightly shorter faster lens which I prefer. It does start to panic in bright, harsh light, so I'm particular about when I use it down here in Oz. For a small in your pocket cam it's lovely to hold and satisfying to use. Thanks again.

I'm really attracted to the Lumix gx80-85 and the gx-9. That form factor and a tilt screen with stabilisation and touch really does it for me. A bit more expensive obviously but still a good deal. I'm a big fan of the point and shoots, though because choosing lenses gives me a headache.

I like the camera lx1 that I picked up for (equivalent to) 35 dollars a lot. It can take take very detailed pictures with a high degree of sharpening and I would think it is suited to "unromantic technical pictures" . I find it difficult to handle in some situations such as bright sunshine. It is also slow to operate if you are in a hurry. This is my personal opinion. It is able to produce amazing pictures under ideal conditions.

Love the Lx 1, thanks for showing it. My FX30 bought new in 2009 (?) still runs as new. It has super sharp Leica Vario Elmarit F2.8-5.6 4.4-17.6mm ASPH. Wide angle of 4.4mm is full frame equivalent to 25mm. Power zoom, auto focus and exposure. Video, scene modes, and flash. Size 95x55x25mm. Sweet.

What a bargain David, and a great little camera to boot - I loved using the Lumix/Leica collaboration bridge cameras, so I think I know how good this one will be. The 16:9 sensor is really cool, although probably less brilliant if you shoot in portrait format a lot, because you're less likely to want tall skinny shots. Pity about the memory card limitation, but there again, if you don't intend to do much editing and stick to JPEGs it won't really be that much of an issue.
@DavidFlowerOfficial Жыл бұрын
I actually found the JPEGs to be pretty nice and needing little to no editing. The flower shot for example was sooc and the colour is gorgeous. I found 16:9 tricky to compose to start with after getting used to 4:3 🖖
@GrumpyTim Жыл бұрын
@@DavidFlowerOfficial I've always been stuck in the mud, wanting to work in the standard 2x3 aspect ratio, even setting my Lumix cameras to said ratio (only relevant for framing because the RAW's are still 4:3), but since seeing you work in 4:3 with your OMs, I've actually embraced 4:3 and I'm quite enjoying it too. Framing in 16:9 would feel a bit weird - it's always a pain when I'm filming something tall and I have to go so far back to get it in that all the crap around the sides starts to creep into shot!!!
@DavidFlowerOfficial Жыл бұрын
Yeah there were a couple of shots that I felt had too much going on at the sides, so I punched in and then felt like it was lacking in height lol. It’s fun to use though, but I’m loving 4:3 as it just feels more flexible. I’ve even started using 4:3 for video when I’m using the action cam just because it allows more freedom in post. I think I’ll be adding a couple more of these types of cameras to my collection if the prices calm down or I get lucky like I did in this case
