Y'all make it look so easy! I'd pay to go fishing with you guys, and cook a feast of your choosing. I used a ripstop, segmented lure, whopper plopper, shad lures ect with no luck. We only landed a few smallies on worms. I'd really appreciate more info on spy bait. I've watched a bunch of your videos and I guess I'm missing something. Nonetheless I thank you for everything. I know the price tag for a Rio Rico is high, but it flat out catches them! The only thing I would recommend is to not buy any colors that are foiled. Stick to the clear blank colors. If not the hooks will just peel the paint right off. It is the best popper I've ever fished and I've used quite a bit. Can't go wrong with walking it on the surface. Keep in mind every popper has its own character. Some that I have walk differently than others but they're all great!

Yeah- the Rico isn't cheap but, it flat works. I like to take the split ring off it, use 17 pound mono or higher, tie a larger knot and leave a 1/2 inch or so tag. It floats the front of the popper up so that it spits more than popping or making that "bloop" sound- then I fish it like a jerk bait- pop, pop, pop- pause- pop- pause- pop, pop, pause... repeat. They're short pauses to- like 1 second- sometimes I don't pause at all- just chunk it out and pop it repeatedly until it gets hit. You can cover water with it, it's not like fishing a popper traditionally. I'm not throwing at targets either- just open water. Think of it as a floating jerkbait and you got it. But the only two poppers I've ever been able to make work this way are Rio Ricos and/or a 1/2 oz. Yellow Magic- and both cost like 20 bucks or a little more. I thought the new p71 would be a good one- it was supposed to be designed like the old PopRs and that's what they say they modeled the Rico after- but they don't work this way. I ought one and it walks great, it's a good popper but- it doesn't spit. The 6th sense splash back looks like it might work- it spits a ton- really moves some water- but I haven't tried it out like this yet. I can't take credit for any of this- Rick Clunn is who I learned it from. That man is a true master angler.

Same thing happening on my lake dude. Schools suspended off points and ledges. Maybe a little shallower than your lake, they are suspended 10-15 ft deep over 18-25 ft of water here. I know the tanks are down there but I struggle getting quality bites. Those bigger suspended fish are frustrating. My lake is a bit dirtier than yours, 3-4 ft of vis on average.
