I love this feature! It's the perfect middle ground between a template and no template. I prefer this over templates because you can start with a blank session with no clutter and add chunks of templates but only when needed. One feature that would take this to another level is to be able to save track and automation data so it can pull midi and automation presets (complex riser etc that you jusr want all the work that you do each time to be done but still have the ability to swap out the sound)

Great feature! I frequently find myself going back to previous projects because "I want the [instrument X] to have the same sound as in [song Y]. Copying everything over could be time consuming. Now I just go back to the old song, save the track as a preset, return to my current song and add the preset. Done and dusted.

This may be an oversight on the part of the programmers, however, if you create a macro that loads an existing audio track preset (as opposed to an instrument as was demonstrated in the video), it would have been nice if you could tell your macro bring focus to that track to arm the track as well.

Great video!! This is really powerful but what I miss is that you have a option if you want to contain the song data automation as well like audio data end midi data I am a cubase user and I'm considering making the switch to studio one butt in cubase you have Track Archives and that give you the option if you want also the Track data for me that's really powerful I know you can import data form another project but that's not really handy if this is a feature that can be added I definitely make the switch

In the first version where track presets was introduced midi routing between 2 tracks were not stored … eg. A reason rack player routed from one channel to a a vst in another channel. I’ll have to check if resolved .. better ( way better ) would be open midi fx group to third party midi generator

I have 10 packed guitar tracks in the arrange window which in the mixer is in a bus where I put all my effects ! But when I try to make a track preset with this I only get 10 plain tracks in the mixer that isn't in a bus ??? How can I make a track preset that automatically put the tracks within a bus ? If that's at all possible?

Unless I'm mistaken, this feature is not possible with Studio One 6 Artist. If that's the case, please could you mention this in future videos, where the particular tool is only available in Professional? Thanks.

All of this can be done with the Select Notes command.

@@studioonetutorials No, not all. There is no function to NOT change notes if all notes are below 90. If it doesn't find velocities above 90 it will change all notes to 90.

This can be done only by re-saving the Track Preset. Otherwise, you would need to edit the Track Preset file in an external editor.

Okay... wth. I can do this with Serum and it saves the track preset and I can do all the things. But if I create on with my guitar DI track with all things loaded, I can see the preset created in windows explorer, but it doesn't show up in studio one.

I don't know if this will reach the right people, I love Studio One and the Atom but I really hope in the future there will be a feature to record live polyrhythmic loops or individual loops of different lengths and positions in real-time as opposed to stopping the flow and over duplicating prerecorded tracks.

Hi Gregor, Okay Virtual Instruments are fine, but what about 'Audio Tracks?' Does it also work for Audio Tracks? I know that if I add an instrument outside of a 'Track Preset using a Macro, I have to first create the instrument track, otherwise it doesn't work. Have I missed something in order not to have to do so? As a Track Preset, I don't need to and it works just as you have shown. An absolutely great tip. It works. so flawlessly. I have just set up several drum kits for Toontrack SDX and it will save me so much time as I separate each individual piece of kit. Just as if I was recording the kit myself and also create my own drum room. I rarely use the supplied FX, preferring greater control over the overal sound. Thanks.

Is there any way to assign Impact to separate MIDI chs? Even if you could use separate instances of Impact you have no way of knowing what MIDI ch you're on.

You can control Impact - or any other Virtual Instrument - from specific MIDI Channels. To do this, you need to set the MIDI Channels you want to use in the External Devices Preferences for the MIDI Input that you want to use to trigger. Here's a screenshot for reference: capture.dropbox.com/EVj1lDbhGr21svOM You can then select the desired MIDI Channels from the Track Inspector (F4 key) once an Instrument Track is selected. In a way yes, but with these you can quickly add them to your templates and sessions. Say, for example, you saved a Track Preset named "2 Mai Tais" with 2 Mai Tai instruments and effects chains - and now you want to quickly add it to one of your sessions/templates. If your session/template previously did not include your "2 Mai Tais", you would have to recreate everything from scratch. Now you can quickly drag and drop your "2 Mai Tais" track preset into your session and continue your work. It's a HUGE time saver. I'm planning on making a video on how I use track presets. Hope this helps.

I am well aware of the music loops functions. But the Track presets and the music loops collide. For the track presets I would love them to work as music loops (to be able to save midi and sound) and for the music loops I would love to be able to connect FX's + BUS + more channels than one if I stack. We need one function to rule it all 🤩!@@presonus

Please add the option to create midi, to be able to work with general midi, this is necessary for those of us who work creating sequences for pianos and the pianos can detect the sounds that we assign, it is the only thing that studio one needs, I am forced to work on cakewalk to be able to do that work and I really don't like it, please I ask you to add this function.

This is already possible with Sound Variations. If you use Studio One Toolbox, you can even convert Cubase Patch Scripts for external synths etc., Expression maps or Cakewalk Instrument Definitions. So you can actually use all of them inside of Studio One.
