The Lvtdgb m/40 in War Thunder is a Swedish SPAA but let's be honest here... the Lvtdgb m/40 is literally a Tank Destroyer in disguise!
Not only is it a Tank Destroyer it's one of THE BEST Tank Destroyers there is at 2.7 Battle Rating. The Lvtdgb m/40 Mad Max Truck fires a SAPHEI (APHE) round with 66mm of penetration. The 40mm Bofors does an INCREDIBLE amount of damage to enemy vehicles, enough to take out Sherman Tanks and Panzers with a single side shot and even from the front!
Swedish Vehicles are generally pretty mediocre to bad but Swedish Tanks in War Thunder normally have super quirky and potent vehicles and the Lvtdgb m/40 is definitely one of them!!!

VEAK 40 is probably my most hated AA. Not because it underperforms, but quite the opposite! This thing always chews up planes, and honestly it's refreshing to see a ground vehicle that can put in work versus air.

You can see the individual stats for rounds in a combobelt in the armour viewer/tester. Select a target, and then you can choose the "vehicle" shooting at it (what you want to know) and you can choose the individual shells out of the ammo belt. Works for Aircraft, tank MGs, spaa, etc.

So apparently Luftvärnsterrängdragbil (I have no god damn idea how to pronounce that) means air defense all-terrain truck, or something like that. m/40 I guess would be the truck chassis it's based on. Swedish is a very strange language, but they're one of those nations that designate their vehicles as exactly what they are, not fancy names. For another example, Strv 121 is Stridsvagn 12cm 1, so basically Tank 120mm Mk 1.

It means pretty much what you said, but literally it means "Anti-Air weapon All-Terrain Pulling Car". I think a more apt translation would be something like "All-Terrain Tractor Unit with an Anti Air Weapon". Trust me, if you thought the Germans named things what they are, the Swedish ones are worse. Out guns are named the same, actually. The only vehicle equipment that is actually blessed with a name is fighters and some artillery systems. Although, most vehicles have plenty of nicknames in the military.

the buildings on that first map, whatever its called, are indestructible, even from bombs im pretty sure. cant collapse them or shoot through them wt buildings are very inconsistent with what objects are permeable and which are not, depends on a map by map basis. some windows arent even windows and are just a solid object. hitboxes of any prop really are very odd, some are tiny and you can shoot through the edges of terrain and walls

The reason for that is the kind of engine and assets used. If you plan with a destructible environment, you create assets that support that. Unfortunately, that requires more work to begin with. A complete, undestroyable object (shipwreck, building, chair, whatever) is way easier to build as it doesn't need a damage model. Also, back in 2008-2012 when the game's development took place, the likelihood of the developers planning a fully destroyable environment is highly doubtful as the computers and servers would not be able to handle that plus a damage model of the tanks. They maybe added some destroyable assets later, but it is tedious, manual work to integrate it in already existing maps without compromising gameplay. The latter means that some objects shouldn't be destroyable simply to protect spawn kills or make cover fully redundant if it can be penned by enough firepower. That would change gameplay critically - not only to the better.

@@richyket661 Nah, it is just incredibly difficult to train an engine to do something it is not supposed to be used for. E.g. while the Frostbite Engine (EA) was directly developed to ensure proper destruction handling, this engine (Dagor) simply was not. It is like to train a car to fly. You can build a plane that drives but a car that flies is something totally different. It requires tremendous amount of work and a lot of customizing inside the engine itself - making it bigger, less performant and complex (opening more possibilities for bugs).

The fact that it is better for you to ignore planes rather than actually engage them should be enough proof that a lot of early-mid spaa need some sort of assistance with being able to target aircraft as both their guns are too bad and planes are too good.

YES THE MAD MAX TRUCK. I've been saying it for ever, this thing is amazing at killing tanks with the semi-AP mini nuke rounds. Trash anti air with that traverse and elevation, but as anti tank is super fun to use.

This goes great in a 2.7 Sweden lineup with the other 2.7 SPAA and the derp trumpet. It accelerates to 40kmph making it quite zippy and can surprise rushing light tanks

If you look on the protection analysis you can see the stats of individual shells The SAPHEI has a 43g of tnt which explains the post pen affect I'm more surprised with the 79,80,81 degree ricochet stats

I pair this with the L-62 ANTI II [Tier 3] when I want to kill 'vehicles' in the BP medium daily tasks using an SPAA. The Pbv 301 can also be used late game giving you 3 bites at the cherry per match. You'll have the same fun with the L-62 ANTI II since it has the same gun and ammo plus a little [quite trolly] armour

Look at the British army in the early years of the war in the western desert. With the scarcity of tanks, 40/60 bofors were mounted on trucks and used by cavalry regiments as substitute tanks. Very successful.

My favourite SPAA as a TD is the Lvkv42, it has the same penetration as this does but double the rate of fire, so not very useful at it's br. Bring it to BR 7.3 and you will melt every single light and medium tank on the battlefield. You are quick, you have a low shilouette, fast turret, enough armor to take small caliber, not enough to trigger aphe, and is suprisingly survivable against MBTs. Edit: also, it is very easy to kill a SU-122 with the mad max truck, if you can hit the gap in the top of the chasemate you will oneshot it.

That's to load onto a train track I'm pretty sure so then it can use the train tracks as a means of transportation as well

@@farmcat9873 The similarity to a train's cow catcher is undeniable. However, those front wheels are the wrong type for rain operation. In consideration of Sweden's winters, I think it is most likely a snowplow to help in getting to good firing positions. It could also be effective in clearly light brush and debris in forest operations.
