Community doesn’t prove anything…cults have community, but that doesn’t make them the one true church. The church is the body of believers, and a believer is simply someone who trusts in what God did on the cross. Catholics don’t trust that the cross paid it all, because they believe we have to continually ask for forgiveness over and over to keep our salvation.
@PaxMundi118 Жыл бұрын
@@markc4176 Hi there -- It sounds like you might have some false assumptions. First, Catholics believe Christ died once-and-for-all on Calvary 2,000 years go. If you are referring to the practice of confessing sins sacramentally in a confessional, the priest has no authority himself to forgive or not to forgive. Rather, he can only confirm and dispense the forgiveness Christ gave us at his crucifixion. In the Gospel of Matthew, Christ gives authority to his Apostles to "bind and loose sins." This, in no way, diminishes Christ's own authority, nor does it limit the infinite power of Christ crucified. Catholics are not required to go to sacramental confession unless they are, as it is described in 1 John, in "mortal" or "deadly" sin. John teaches "there is a (mortal) sin that leads to death." The Catholic Church sees mortal or deadly sins as very serious, sicknesses in the soul, and the remedy is the medicine of the Apostles, the Apostolic Church. That is why have confession. What is bound by God is loosed by the priest under Apostolic authority (a Bishop).
@PaxMundi118 Жыл бұрын
Christ entrusted his Apostles to spread his Gospel to "the ends of the Earth" (all nations). But because this was impossible for them to do in their lifespan, the Apostle passed on their authority to successors. The Bishops of the Catholic Church are the historical successors to the Apostles: their primary charge is to preach the Gospel, but also to care for the orthodoxy, unity, sanctity and charity of the Church. To truly be a "Body," as you rightly describe the Church, it must be unified: there is no unified body without the characteristics I just mentioned. A head without a body has no life. A body without a head is a monster. The Catholic Church maintains its unity because it has one head, Jesus Christ, and one Bishop, the Pope, who acts as his representative, infinitely less powerful than God, but God loves and trusts his Church and gives it responsibility, like a Father does to a child. The institution of the Church comes with Christ's conferring authority on Peter. Peter is preeminent in the Gospels. Christ invests special authority in Peter: "feed my sheep." This is said three times, of course. We are Christ's sheep and it is his loving plan that we be one (as he prays in John 17) and so he has built a Church, through the Holy Spirit, to be one, to proclaim his forgiveness, and to preach the Gospel to all corners of the Earth. We are sinners, but God works miracles with broken vessels.

I was born and raised a Muslim in Istanbul. At the age of 16 I became a cold hearted atheist and was so sure nothing could prove me otherwise. I met a very religious Polish guy (just a friend) in my university exchange program and we started to debate heavily on early church and the Bible. Once I found all the messianic prophecies of the Judeo-Christian tradition and how Islam has no explanation and place theologically on that background and once I saw that there was a direct continuum of one Church from the moment of Pentecost onward, I was convinced of Catholicism. Many years later, I moved to Japan for work as a 8 years long practising Catholic and met a Japanese guy there who converted to Catholicism from atheism. We got married and God willing we are now getting ready for our first child and we will do our best to make him really love and understand the Church from the very beginning.

Did Jesus design that His one true "church" have an infallible "Sacred Inquisition" to BTK all the "heretics" and Protestants, cause centuries of darkness, now called the *Dark* Ages, while deceiving the biblically illiterate that they represent the _Light_ of the world, and that His professedly Christian "church" have as its visible head someone who adopts a title whose very definition means Antichrist (in the place of Christ)? (Vicar of Christ, the pope's official title, means "in the place of Christ," as does Antichrist.) Is that the work of Christ, or of the Prince of *Darkness* ??

I came from the Southern Baptist tradition. I converted to Catholicism Easter Vigil 2018. I am now 61 years old and am the only Catholic in my family. Once a person takes a prayerful and honest look into the Catholic Church, there is no doubt the Catholic Church is the one true Church of Christ. I am always so grateful to see others like yourself who have experienced a similar journey and found the Truth. Protestantism also caused me to wonder aimlessly in my sin all the while thinking I was saved because I had entered into a 'contract' with Jesus at a certain point and time was, therefore, saved for eternity. That teaching is so dangerous and leads so many to Hell. God bless you, brother. I'm grateful God lead us to where we are in our journey which will lead us to Heaven if we keep the faith and die in a state of His amazing grace.
@MyJustOpinion Жыл бұрын
I completely agree with you. That teaching is so heretical and so dangerous. Can you imagine someone sinning over and over again because he thinks he is already saved. When I first heard that doctrine, I said to myself wow this religion is so easy. I don't need to do anything, I don't need to strive against sin.

@@MyJustOpinion Do you realize you have set up a strawman argument? You asked "Can you imagine someone sinning over and over again because he thinks he's already saved?" I have an equally valid question: Can you imagine someone thinking they're saved because they perform rituals to feel like they're "doing something." The first error you mentioned is not biblical and it's not a protestant teaching. It's called 'Antinomianism' (Against the Law) The bible specifically warns against this kind of mentality. Paul said in Romans 6 "What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? " In other words, NO, we do not purposely go on sinning because we're saved. NO true believer thinks like this. But false converts do! Paul also said in Romans 3: 5But if our unrighteousness brings out God’s righteousness more clearly, what shall we say? That God is unjust in bringing his wrath on us? ( I am using a human argument) 6 Certainly not! If that were so, how could God judge the world? 7Someone might argue, “If my falsehood enhances God’s truthfulness and so increases his glory, why am I still condemned as a sinner?” 8 *Why not say-as some slanderously claim that we say-“Let us do evil that good may result”?* THIS is the kind of thinking you're talking about, and HERE is Paul's response to such thinking: *Their condemnation is just!* The second error, one that Roman Catholics make because they believe they're "Doing Something," is called LEGALISM (the strict keeping of the law) This is what the Pharisees were guilty of and why Jesus chastised them! God says "ALL" yes "ALL" of your righteous deeds are as filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6) Jesus clearly tells His followers "STRIVE to enter the narrow gate" The word strive is "Agonizomai" or AGONIZE! Paul expresses very clearly in Romans 7 that he LONGS to do what is right and yet he finds instead that he continually does evil. *THIS IS THE BATTLE OF THE TRUE CHRISTIAN!* If becoming Roman Catholic put your mind at ease because you now feel like you're "doing something," than you have probably come to rely on what YOU do instead of what Jesus has DONE! This kind of faith works to BE saved, and it is heresy. TRUE faith works BECAUSE we ARE saved, and it is biblical (Ephesians 2:10, Titus 2:14) I highly recommend that you read or listen to a message from C. H. Spurgeon called "The Fainting Warrior" to understand the battle of the true Christian!

@@rolysantos No true Catholic believes he can save himself. Jesus is Savior. At the last supper He asks us to do this in memory of Me. This is My Body. This is My Blood. He means precisely what He says. Try to water it down if you like so it is more understandable to human reasoning. But Catholic and Orthodox teaching is firm that the bread and wine become the Body Blood Soul and Divinity of Jesus. Read John6. Could Jesus be clearer? Blessings and thank you for an interesting reply.

@@larryluch8178 My friend, Jesus also said "I am the door." If I don't believe Jesus is made of wood am I "watering it down?" No my friend, the doctrine of 'transubstantiation' is wrong, no matter how firmly you hold to it. Regarding saving yourself. If you believe that your "cooperation with God" by doing works is related in any way to your salvation, then yes, you do believe that you play a part in your salvation. I'm interested to know how you view works. The bottom line is that these are the very least of the issues with the RCC.

When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you?’ And the king will say to them in reply, ‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.’ Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you accursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, a stranger and you gave me no welcome, naked and you gave me no clothing, ill and in prison, and you did not care for me.’ Then they will answer and say, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or ill or in prison, and not minister to your needs? Jesus makes it plain we will be judged for our entire lives and it’s possible to lose your salvation through sin, such as refusing to care for those in need, as they are all Jesus in disguise. If your love for God is narcissistic and doesn’t change your life to the point that you serve others in a constant process of salvation throughout your life, responding to and cooperating with God’s grace you are not a follower of Christ. Salvation isn’t a magic moment in time, it’s a process and a relationship with Christ. There is still hope for you. 10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: (Romans 3:10) You may think and say "I'm a very good person" or "I always try to do good". All without Christ are equally wicked in the sight of the LORD. You could try to work your way to Heaven by doing good works, but if you have committed 1 sin, you are guilty of breaking the whole law (James 2:10). 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (Romans 3:23) All people have sinned against a holy and righteous God. Let me ask you this: do you admit that you have done wrong and committed sin? Whenever we sin against God, we are guilty of that sin(s). 23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23) There are consequences to our actions. Every choice we make has a consequence whether it be good or bad. If a person dies without accepting Christ as his or her Savior (including catholics), that same person will wake up in Hell awaiting the Great White Thrown Judgment. All the unsaved will be thrown into the lake of fire after the Great White Throne Judgment. 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8) The Lake of fire is a scary place. The good news is that there is a way to escape the lake of fire right now today. 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. (Isaiah 53:5-6) Jesus Christ was born of a virgin. He was beaten for you. He paid the price of your sins on the cross at Calvary with his precious blood. I grew up in the Catholic Church and departed from it at a very young age. Not really belonging to any denomination or attending any church. Almost becoming Agnostic. I now teach teenage kids on the beautiful teachings and mysteries of the Catholic Church. God drew me back in and opened my mind and softened my heart, which was stone cold. The Catholic faith is the one true faith, and God has revealed this truth throughout the ages for our sake. Great video! I'm happy to hear you have found your way home!

St. Cyprian of Carthage “The Lord says to Peter: ‘I say to you,’ he says, ‘that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church.’ . . . On him [Peter] he builds the Church, and to him he gives the command to feed the sheep [John 21:17], and although he assigns a like power to all the apostles, yet he founded a single chair [cathedra], and he established by his own authority a source and an intrinsic reason for that unity. Indeed, the others were that also which Peter was [i.e., apostles], but a primacy is given to Peter, whereby it is made clear that there is but one Church and one chair. So too, all [the apostles] are shepherds, and the flock is shown to be one, fed by all the apostles in single-minded accord. If someone does not hold fast to this unity of Peter, can he imagine that he still holds the faith? If he [should] desert the chair of Peter upon whom the Church was built, can he still be confident that he is in the Church?” (The Unity of the Catholic Church 4; 1st edition [A.D. 251]

Protestant's are always preaching that only faith alone is what will save you, yet they conveniently do not speak on James 2:14-26. I only write from James 2:14-17. What does it profit my breathen. if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, "Depart in peace, be warmed and filled," but you do not give them the things needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. Seems pretty clear to me! If you continue reading until verse 26. St. James continues to drive the point home. To paraphrase, did Jesus not address this very same thing with the Apostles. Feeding the hungry, visiting the prisoners and the sick? That is called "works." So my dear brother in Christ, you must have both faith and works to enter into the kingdom of heaven as the Catholic Church rightfully teaches!

I was too a liberal Baptist and now am a conservative Catholic . Satan doesn’t want you to stay or become Catholic for he wants your soul and is doing everything to destroy the Catholic Church. Protestantism has caused me to wander aimlessly and sinfully thinking I was saved, no matter what sins I commit and bad things I do, just because I have accepted him as my savior at one point in my life without any cooperation or work from me in return, which is a very twisted belief and will lead countless souls to hell. It’s true that Jesus died for our souls in one act and saved us all. That grace we didn’t earn and no matter what we do, there is no way that we even can come close to pay back the grace that he has given to all of us selflessly. But to hold on to being saved and to keep being saved requires our cooperation and obedience. It’s like saying I was saved by a life guard from a shark attack. I didn’t do anything to merit the life guard from saving me and no matter what I do I won’t be able to pay him back. But to stay saved by the lifeguard from the shark requires work from me . I have to hold tight to him, to do as I am told by him and not to push him and swim away from him. Once you are saved, that is when work starts. It is faith that saves you but it is not alone for you have to follow it with obedience and cooperation out of love for Jesus.

I sat in the back and when I saw the line to receive the Eucharist I saw every type of person you could imagine . All I thought was- this is what the line to Heaven looks like. Other interesting observation later crossed my mind. This is the most diverse place but you still have the all Korean church, the all Brazilian church, the all white church, the all upper class or all middle class churches, etc….but not in the Catholic Church. It truly reflected the neighborhood I lived in.

St. Cyril of Jerusalem “The Church is called Catholic, then, because it extends over the whole world, from end to end of the earth, and because it teaches universally and infallibly each and every doctrine which must come to the knowledge of men, concerning things visible and invisible, heavenly and earthly, and because it brings every race of men into subjection to godliness, governors and governed, learned and unlearned, and because it universally treats and heals every class of sins, those committed with the soul and those with the body, and it possesses within itself every conceivable form of virtue, in deeds and in words and in the spiritual gifts of every description” (Catechetical Lectures 18:23 [A.D. 350] “And if you ever are visiting in cities, do not inquire simply where the house of the Lord is-for the others, sects of the impious, attempt to call their dens ‘houses of the Lord’-nor ask merely where the Church is, but where is the Catholic Church. For this is the name peculiar to this holy Church, the mother of us all, which is the spouse of our Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God” (ibid., 18:26).

Newly converted this Easter Vigil, I loved hearing this man's testimony, especially when the Latin mass began and he had to consult with a little girl to understand what was going on. I remember back in October, my first Holy Mass ever, and I felt like a stupid muppet, and my friends and I are always laughing about it. Not at each other do we laugh, but in a sense of joyous humility. It's a ray of hope, found only through Jesus Christ. We joked after how at that mass, my good friend who inspired me and his brother to walk into Catholicism walked up to the priest to receive a blessing during communion, and there was myself and his brother...looking like clueless muppets! Hahaha Truly, it was the moment in which I said in my heart "Christ...make me yours, please. Show me how and where to go." The entire walk to the altar for baptism, confirmation and communion has been as a child holding the hand of Our Lady of Heaven. She, by Christ's will, has been my undeniable guide to the foot of Christ's grace, and just mercy. I give thanks to Mary so often every day, because by God's will through Her, I have received Jesus fully on this earth in my flesh. That is a gift, one in which I can never give back to Her, or any of the Heavenly hosts and saints...but I can give back that gift on earth. How? By informing and proclaiming to others: this is the faith. This is the One true Church. This is the Body of Christ. This is the path to glorious salvation. May the peace of Our Lord Jesus Christ, be upon each and every heart here. God bless you all.

This was such a beautiful testimony. I'm a cradle Catholic but I became lapsed about 12 years ago. And now I've been attending mass for 2 months and everything that he's saying I have felt too, in regards to being inside of a Catholic church and learning more about the faith. I started attending mass in English instead of Spanish. And being in a mixed parish with Filipinos, Vietnamese, African and some white folks. And perhaps a few Hispanic folks like myself too. Point is, I absolutely love attending mass with a mixed parish. This is the living proof and embodiment that we are all one family in Jesus Christ and that we are strong in our Roman Catholic faith. I've never attended Latin Mass before but I'm very curious to and I can't wait for the actual opportunity. I even want to start wearing a veil as well, which is something that I never thought I would feel a compulsion to want to do. But the idea of being in the house of our Lord and in the presence of his Blessed Sacrament, I want to be modest and in remembrance of his Passion for us. I take that seriously and to heart. Bless you brother for finding your way home ✝️✨

@@phillipkuhlman7468 The Church is Jesus Christ Himself. Jesus Christ, Himself, said in Scripture that He would always be with us and He is with us through the Church He established while He was still on earth. He gave the Church the power through the hierarchy that He established on earth, to bind and loose and this is not to be taken frivolously. The Church has not gone astray but rather some people in the Church have gone astray. As a Catholic, I try not to focus on the things the enemy is trying to do to destroy and divide us but rather on what Jesus is doing in His Church to bring us closer to Him and ultimately to our Heavenly Home. Judas betrayed Jesus and as we know, he was one of the twelve, chosen by Jesus Himself. This makes it clear that while some people in the Church may hide behind masks of holiness, they can easily be led astray by the enemy. We need to spend time each day in union with Jesus. The method that many Catholics prefer is through the Mass and Holy Communion but if this isn't possible, then through prayerful time. I would suggest you focus on the good things that Jesus is doing in the world through His Church and not the bad things that are being told to you by the father of lies. They only distract us from our true mission which is to unite and spend eternity in Heaven. God bless you on your journey!

My Dad was my pastor who baptized me. My question was how do I wash away my sins after baptism. Unless you recognize the body and blood of the Lord, you eat and drink damnation unto your soul. Stopped taking communion. Then I found Mother Angelica and the teachings on the real presence, Scott Hahn and so many Protestant pastors that converted and all the sacraments. I found my home!

This has got to be one of my all time favorite testimonials. I loved it when Tyler went to a Mass for the first time and hearing Latin, thought it was Spanish and thought "all these people can't be bilingual". That sealed it for me. Welcome home, bro'!

@@gabiafterhours Hi. I’m not sure if this reply was meant for my post? I do pray the rosary daily, along with my morning offering, along with using St. Ignatious’ Examen in the evening. I pray daily for the conversion of souls, for souls in Purgatory with no one to pray for them, for my own need for mercy, courage, and aid in resisting meanness and sin.

I have been attending Mass for 6 months now (i came from Anglican Church) and my Priest told me the other day that i will be confirmed straight after Epiphany this Christmas. Im so happy to of found the Catholic church , i have never felt closer to our Lord Jesus. All my family who are protestant will be attending , they were very against it at first but over these 6 months ive made some progress with their objections and they are now supportive , i even found out my mum has been watching Catholic KZbinrs lol and so ive been praying every day that the spirit will move them when they attend my confirmation and get to witness the beauty of the Catholic church firsthand.

@@ARackz liar or ignorant? , you either need to repent or educate yourself by studying Church history and the writings of the Church fathers who personally knew and were taught by the Apostles. I will pray for you too.

I am a proud Black American Catholic. I converted to Catholicism in 2010, and I love my Church and faith. I taught (RCIA) Catholicism for new Catholics entering the Church and Faith for 12 years. I have been a Lector for 13 years and an Extraordinary Minister for 5 years. My relationship with the HOLY TRINITY has been the best thing to have happened in my life. God Bless.

"born Catholic"?................Nobody is "born Catholic".......not even the Pope. You BECOME Catholic...................remember the Sacraments? My parents are Catholic, my grandparents, my great-grandparents, ....all the way back to Spain and quite possibly Jerusalem. Even then, I am NOT "born Catholic"........I became Catholic through the Sacraments.

That was BEAUTIFUL what he said. I was raised as Catholic, I was a alter boy at 8 years old. I remember lighting the candles and putting them out, trying not to trip on my robe because I was so small then. I enjoyed being up on the alter with the Priest performing Communion. I was sad when the Catholic church quit doing Mass in Latin, to hear the Priest chanting in Latin reminded me of in a Synagogue the Rabbi chanted in Hebrew. I MISS TRADITIONS.
