This feels like the first real “review” in a while. Lately it’s just been rehashed information that’s been said in numerous videos but seeing Coop go in depth on specifics for this machine was great and super entertaining to watch. Any chance we can get a review on the signature fitness silent sled or their hip thrust? I’ve seen both on sale for roughly 350$ a piece which seems like a steal.

You can buy a rep rack leg roller and replace the factory cushion with it if you don’t mind dropping another 50 but it makes a big difference. You just have to knock the plastic cap off and rep leg roller has a collar w set nut you take off and move to the rot fit bar retighten and done only about 1/2” difference in length of rollers. I received mine 2 months ago, the sundial finishing wasn't great, it caused the cable casing to fray after 2 uses. RitFit was quick to send a replacement cable, and I took a wire brush to smooth out the cable tracks in the sundial, it is now running great. Also note on high loads the machine needs to have counterweights on the back weight pegs otherwise it feels very unstable ~90lbs will do the trick
@jkadf293

Wish you would have tested it with a heavier load. Based on the review by HGHR, the machine is very unstable on heavier loads. Just using 2 45 lb bumper plates is not a great way to test or demo this machine, especially when you said that it is a plate eater.

Coop, heads up, saying seated curls are superior to lying curls is actually a common misapplication of the study findings! While seated leg curls do seem to grow 3 of the 4 heads of the hamstrings better (likely due to those heads crossing the hip joint and thus getting trained at longer muscle lengths while seated, as you mentioned), I wouldn't say seated curls are categorically superior as this is strictly only looking at parts of the hamstrings which misses the bigger picture! The 4th head - the biceps femoris short head - grows the same in both seated & lying curls (it only crosses the knee so isn't impacted by hip position), and lying curls actually grow the Sartorius and Gracilis muscles more than seated! The Sartorius and Gracilis are 2 other biarticulate muscles which are not part of the hamstrings but are meaningful in size and also perform knee flexion just like the hamstrings, but these 2 muscles also do hip flexion too, the opposite of the 3 hamstrings heads which perform hip extension, so they are lengthened more when lying down rather than being seated and the same studies find that Sartorius & Gracilis grow more from lying curls vs seated! Given that you can already hit the 3 hamstrings heads that cross the hip at longer muscle lengths doing something like an RDL, back extension, or good morning, exercises many people likely have access to with barbells or dumbbells, most people may actually be better off getting a lying leg curl if they want to grow the most overall musculature! Ideally, you'd do all 3 variations, but in a home gym with limited space you may have to pick 2 and as per Dr. Eric Helms (one of the most respected exercise scientists in the field right now) you'd probably want to choose a hip hinge + a lying leg curl to get the most balanced overall muscle growth: kzbin.infoK8nFq12BjH8?t=4586 Of course, you can always do Nordic Curls too which work and grow the muscles with a similar length/tension relationship as lying leg curls, so not a huge deal if someone gets a seated leg curl machine as there are options to still grow all the muscles maximally! But just wanted you to be aware since it seems like you've been definitely studying up on some of the literature and biomechanics and I've heard Dr. Mike name-dropped in a few videos which is great to hear as he's another highly respected figure in the evidence-based fitness community! Keep up the great work man 💪.

This was a really great, detailed review with lots of pros and cons. Thank you. In watching, my main worry would be the seat's ability to accommodate different femur lengths since the seat back does not move forward and back. If you have shorter femur length than Coop, your knees will be on the seat pad rather than forward of it, and that's horrific body mechanics for a leg extension.

I'm looking for a leg extension/ curl machine for my basement. I like this machine except for one drawback. As a female and being a little smaller, without being able to move the seat forward, it would be too long for me to be seated properly, doing either leg ext. or leg curls. How would I alleviate this problem, or would there be a different machine just as good that isn't through the roof for cost? Lydia 😊

I modified my Weider bench bought in 1983 by replacing the top and bottom bars with long 1 inch pipe that can be loaded. This way you can just adjust the top/bottom loading to change the force curve - not perfectly but good enough for most purposes. You have two loads at 90 degrees with one applying max force at the bottom and none at 90 degrees and the other no force at the bottom and max at 90 degrees. The original loading bar was welded on and stuck out forward from near the bottom. It broke off due to over-loading (and stupid design). I also bolted quarter inch plate around the pivot and increased the pivot size to make it more than strong enough for me.

Its a good design and will work for a lot of people. If you are planning on using very heavy loads then you would be better off getting something that is more commercial quality and price. Not everyone can afford that though and for the 350 dollars I paid I felt it was a good buy. The leg extension feels great and the leg curls are decent. The padding is a little thin but its not a deal breaker. It gets the job done and there is consistent tension when performing the movements. Hopefully this style of leg machine becomes standard and is executed better by other companies. Unless money is no obstacle this is a winner for the pricepoint.

Coop, any plans to do a comparison of this to the new Lionscool v3.0 (the one briefly shown in the video was the v2.0) or Kingsmith Leg Extension/Curl combo? They seem highly comparable but with some pros like higher user + loading capacities, seat angle adjustment for leg curls, longer lever arm requiring loading fewer plates (1:1 ratio), and larger ankle pad. Definitely some cons too so I'd really like to have a showdown to determine the best ultra-budget option!

I've had mine for several months now and one thing I wish they did was put casters on the back of the machine so it's easier to move around the garage. I know most machines are meant to be stationary, but this is machine is light enough (my rogue adjustable bench is heavier than this!) to move around for convenience.

how much weight can you put on it before you feel it's not stable?
@siegler1
@siegler1 13 күн бұрын
@n3tfury I haven't reached that point yet. So far I've put on 4 plates (180lbs) with no issue. Some other people noted that they needed more weight than that to match their strength.

@n3tfury yeah id say its not for advanced lifters who can do heavy leg extensions. But I think for intermediate and beginners it's the best value considering how inexpensive it is and the linear force curve.

The Lionscool version looks quite a bit better. Their "version 2" has a longer arm for the plate loading which would give more resistance (less plates) and a more consistent arc. It also appears the foot pad is longer. Now if only I could get these Chinese built machines in Australia instead of being chipped to the US first....

They also have a v3.0 out already which addresses some issues found with the v2.0 apparently! Though not much coverage or reviews of this new v3.0 yet so who knows 🤷‍♂.

@ It has a slightly different design where the cable attaches to the plate lever arm which is supposed to reduce wear and the breaking the previous versions experienced. Also I think it's supposed to have a stiffer support underneath the ankle pad so it flexes less under heavy weights.

Wow. HGHR's review of actually showing it in use..... just based off what I saw in his video I wouldn't recommend this thing. The amount of rocking/flexion the machine does when in use is ridiculous. Especially with a heavy load.... which with this thing - you WILL be needing to max out it's weight capacity if HGHR's review is anything to go by. Not to mention.... when you do max it out with plates, the post itself flexes so much the plates start sliding off. Just going by HGHR's review if this thing it DEFINITELY gave off the vibes of the Uber cheap fitness crap you can find on Amazon.... that have prices that are "way too good to be true." Well.... it's because the equipment is crap. You're not buying cheap fitness equipment.... you're buying expensive crap. I just can't believe after seeing HGHR's review coming here and seeing coop not only recommend this but claim it to be the "king" of anything.... wow. Makes one really wonder not so much if Ritfit paid for an endorsement but how much did they pay. Seriously. Go to Home Gym Hacks and Reviews and he reviews this thing and tests it alongside 2 other similar pieces - I can't recall which brand the one is but I know the other one of the 3 in his video was the Titan leg curl/extension..... which he still crowned as being the best. Oh... I think the other machine was powertec's bench with leg attachment that allows you to do leg extensions and lying leg curls. If memory serves HGHR have the Titan an "A-" the powertec an "B"..... and the Ritfit an "F-"...... it's BAD. That said.... HGHR is a self admitted fanboy of powertec stuff. Just watch his video..... actually using the Ritfit.... unedited... no slow motion. Actually using it. It's a POS.
